Divine Emperor of Death

In truth, Davis called Clara way before Evelynn came back. He was recuperating and couldnʼt leave, according to his wives, so to not waste time, he called Clara here as she was waiting for him in her room. He did say that he wanted to talk to her privately, after all.

But as she was here, he had a certain idea and thought of using how a brother-sister combo of finding the truth would work.

With his Enigmatic Heart Intent and Claraʼs Transcendent Truth Eyes, almost nothing could escape their senses. Lies could be seen through, and hidden emotions could be clearly felt. It was the perfect combo to counter deception.

Davis merely wanted to test on this unsuspecting woman their ability to work together, but it turned out that she was a Divergent.

In fact, it was Clara who warned him of Vereinaʼs Divergent status as she found her aura to be repulsive. He merely made up an excuse that he felt something strange from her soul, and as expected, Vereina revealed her status as a Divergent upon feeling like she was found out.

How could he feel something from her soul when he didnʼt even give a chance for her to respond when he kidnapped her? He didnʼt even have time to bother with her at that moment.

He couldnʼt help but look at Clara with pride, but at the same time, his eyes flickered with worry.

”Clara, do you know what exactly this repulsive feeling is? No one else feels it.”

It wasnʼt that Clara said that Vereina was a Divergent. Instead, she said that Vereina had the same repulsive aura she felt from Ellia. After all, Clara didnʼt have a clear understanding of what a Divergent was, but now, she was starting to understand more.

”I think it has something to do with Divergents, brother. But I donʼt feel good about this matter.” Clara clenched her fist, her aura slightly wavering, ”I feel like I should eliminate them to save trouble… as though theyʼre unworthy of living...”

She knew what Divergents are, as she learned from the Heaven Mandate Templeʼs Libraries, but she didnʼt know that this repulsive aura was directly related to a Divergent until now. However, her eyes went wide as she suddenly realized her meaning.

”I… I didnʼt mean that Ellia and Nadia should die. Brother is also a Divergent, yet I canʼt feel anything repulsive from you. This means brother is a good Divergent, and Ellia… Nadia… elder sister Shirley… I… I donʼt understand. Whatʼs wrong with me?”

Claraʼs purple eyes shook. She was starting to notice the discrepancy in her emotions; in her straightforward way of thinking.

How come sister Shirley, Ellia, and Nadiaʼs auras felt bad to her? They had only protected her and been nice to her, so how come she felt repulsed by them as she felt for a stranger like Vereina?

Even now, she was active with Nadia to get that feeling off of her, yet why canʼt she stop finding her repulsive? Why couldnʼt she stop herself from finding them all repulsive!?

”…”

The expressions of Evelynn and Isabella were one of shock, while Davisʼs face was somber.

ʼEither she canʼt feel the presence of Anarchic Divergents yet, or Fallen Heavenʼs presence in me is hiding that repulsive aura from her...ʼ

He guessed from her words. After all, how come only he could escape from her senses? That didnʼt make sense unless it was one of the two possibilities he guessed. There could be other possibilities too, but he felt that these were the major ones he could think of with his experience.

He took a deep breath and cast her a gentle look.

”Clara, youʼre a smart girl. By now, you should be able to understand something is starting to influence your emotions.”

Claraʼs gaze sharpened, ”My physique?”

”Yes. If Iʼm not wrong, the invisible heavenʼs will is starting to influence you through your physique. According to texts and reliable people I learned from, this would only worsen after you become an immortal and would make you want to eliminate Divergents from the face of this world. You will become a warrior of the heavens, and in the end, you might even try to kill me one day.”

”Nonsense!”

Claraʼs expression fell before she lashed out, ”Brother, that is not possible! I would rather die than give a death blow to you!”

”I know, Clara. Youʼre my precious little sister.”

Davis rose to his feet and wrapped his hand around Clara. Her trembling body came to a stop as she felt his warmth, and she was careful enough not to worsen the bandaged part she saw on his shoulder, forgoing all resistance.

”I know you wonʼt kill anyone here, much less me, but it is the heavenʼs will weʼre talking about. All Iʼm saying is that it could make you do it without you even realizing it...”

”…”

Davis gently uttered, causing Claraʼs pupils to tremble. Her eyes turned misty while her fingers trembled, and she couldnʼt help but close her eyes. Biting her lips, she felt a sour feeling in her throat that she tried to resist.

Her bosoms heaved with heaviness before she couldnʼt help but open her eyes, a powerless glint revolving within them.

”In that case… I think Iʼll have my cultivation base sealed forever...”

”…!”

Evelynn and Isabella had their mouths shut with their hands, not understanding what was going on as they were unaware of this matter. Things suddenly took a worse turn for their hearts to catch up.

Warrior of the heavens? Will eventually kill Davis? Just what exactly was going on here!?

Davis was dumbfounded to hear Clara reach the same conclusion as Myria did. His eyes flickered with sorrow before he vehemently shook his head.

”No! That is not the result Iʼm trying to reach for, Clara. You have sacrificed so much for me. You did what I asked faithfully as you stayed back and took care of our siblings. You gave away your rights to the Ice Phoenix Immortal Inheritance for Shirley and me. You deserve more than just our understanding and care.”

”…” Claraʼs frail body trembled in his embrace as she heard his words.

His words resonated with her thoughts and emotions.

Back then, when she had let go of the Ice Phoenix Immortal Inheritance, she felt that it was fine as she had her Transcendent Truth Eyes to rely on, but now, it came to her knowledge that her physique was under the influence of a divine entity known as the heavenʼs will and whatʼs more, would cause her to be aggressive to Divergents.

She fully trusted her brotherʼs words, and that was why she felt reluctant. She felt powerless. How come everything that she could rely on was taken away right now, disallowing her to cultivate?

Even if she could receive the permission of others, how could she still hope to cultivate, knowing that she might kill her dear brother one day and have his blood in her hands?

Wouldnʼt she form a heart demon?

In fact, she wasnʼt worried about killing him because she knew if she wanted to kill Davis, the only way could be to backstab him or trap him using his weakness; that was his family, including herself. That was even more mortifying than killing him with her own hands, especially when he wouldnʼt even see it coming.

She didnʼt even want to think about such a scenario.

It completely shook her heart.

Meanwhile, Davis was seething with anger at the heavens for making Clara feel this way. It wouldnʼt be a far cry to say that his little sister felt so despaired right now, an emotion he had never felt from her, which enraged him.

Myria said that he should not reveal this information to Clara but seal her cultivation and allow her to live someplace secluded but in luxury, of course. However, he didnʼt feel right about that kind of notion. He figured that Myria only felt that Clara might escape and come back a menace with her high intelligence, but he had boundless trust in his little sisterʼs will.

There was no way he was going to give up this early without even trying!

”Clara,” Grabbing her shoulders, Davis gazed at her downcast expression with intense emotion, ”No matter what happens, your brother will never blame you. For no reason should you stop your cultivation or even doubt yourself. Do you understand!?”

”…!”
