Divine Emperor of Death

Vereinaʼs black eyes were no longer intimidated or nervous. Instead, they were daring and constantly surveyed the expressions of a man and the women before her. She noticed that the women were not ordinary immortals or mortals, as each of them had their own weight.

She couldnʼt describe it in words but could certainly feel it in their auras and bearings. The man wasnʼt the only danger here. The women were too.

However, seeing the woman shocked by her words, she couldnʼt help but pride herself.

But still, the fact that she felt cornered by this man didnʼt change, causing her to be on high alert even though she seemed serene on the outside.

”This is indeed quite a secret...”

Davis finally commented after a few seconds. He rubbed his chin, seemingly contemplating before his gaze returned to her.

”You are right, Miss Divergent. We both tend to gain by keeping our secrets. However, how can I believe you when you mix truth with half lies?”

”...”

Vereinaʼs expression was indifferent. However, she inwardly panicked at how this man was able to differentiate truth from falsehood. This was why she chose to come out as a Divergent, not wanting to hide it but using it as a card to speak to him on nearly equal terms.

After all, she noticed that the other party was also a Divergent, possessing heavenly wisps wrapped by some mysterious pure white energy that stunned her to her core. She wasnʼt able to determine what it was, but she could see that it sure had the capability to retain those heavenly wisps from disappearing into thin air.

She deemed it something outrageous as the act of having those heavenly wisps.

”Forget it. Iʼm being overly cautious here as no one would tell others the truth on first meeting, much less to a person who kidnapped them.”

Davis waved his hand, ”If you want to leave, that is fine with me. However, you should give me something in return, something that would make me believe in your words. Otherwise, I donʼt feel like taking the risk of letting you out.”

”A Blood Soul Contract?” Vereina lightly blinked.

”Iʼm pretty sure your soul physique could break it.”

Davis blinked in return.

The both of them blinked a second time before Vereina looked away.

ʼWhat the- how the hell does he know that? Is he mind-reading? Or does he know more about my Violent Punitive Soul Physique...?ʼ

She looked back and returned her gaze while lifting her chin to get her flow.

”Mister Divergent, how much do you know about my soul physique?”

ʼI have no freaking idea...ʼ

Davis just smiled, not opting to answer. However, his expression made Vereina feel that she was dancing in the palm of his hands.

”What else do you want?” Although she wanted to maintain her indifference, her tone started to lack confidence.

Davis shook his head, ”Youʼre the one who should look to carve a way out at the moment. Not me. However, I wonʼt attack you, so come up with a method that can make me convinced that youʼre not a harm to me.”

”Iʼm definitely not giving you my body.”

Vereinaʼs eyes narrowed. However, Davis still remained indifferent as his lips moved, ”Even if you spread your legs willingly, I donʼt want it.”

”...”

Vereina couldnʼt help but blink before her expression undoubtedly lit up.

”As expected of a man with an armful of beauties. You donʼt lack anything, so even beauty has no leverage over you. Thatʼs somewhat reassuring...”

She glanced at Natalya and the others with a knowing smile before she appeared to look away and contemplate. It wasnʼt long before she raised her hand.

”How about this? Iʼll swear that I wonʼt do anything against you consciously. As an immortal, I heard that swearing to the heavens will affect my heavenly tribulations, so I consider that this is worth more than the Blood Soul Contract that I can break, right?”

Davis took a moment to consider her words.

Consciously?

ʼWell, does she have a split personality or something?ʼ Davis wondered before he thought he was looking too much into it.

The other party seemed to be sane and careful, not to mention that his Enigmatic Heart Intent couldnʼt detect any other fluctuations. She couldnʼt be like Myria and Ellia either, able to switch out as two soul imprints.

”Yes, but thatʼs not enough, as prowess can be increased to counter tribulations. Go on.”

He nodded, causing Vereina to lightly clench her teeth.

What else?

”You... give me more information in order to have more options. First of all, where am I? Whatʼs outside? Am I still in the First Haven World?”

Vereina felt slightly suffocated and insecure. There was a limit to how she could go long in front of his hidden pressure.

Davis eyed Evelynn, causing her to step forward and relay their location.

”Aurora Cloud Gate!?”

But just as Evelynn started, Vereina almost jumped as her eyes went wide. Quickly, she tried to display an indifferent outlook but knew that she was caught, causing her to lower her head.

Meanwhile, Evelynn blinked and turned to look at Davis.

Her reaction seemed pretty self-explanatory as they both understood that Vereina somehow knew of the Aurora Cloud Gate.

But how?

ʼCould it be that there is a branch sect of the Aurora Cloud Gate in the Star River Continent Lower Plane?ʼ

Davis was doubtful. He didnʼt know if there existed methods to enter the lower planes.

Mini or secret realms were another thing altogether. There were thousands of them in the First Haven World, but lower worlds or planes like the Grand Sea Continent and Star River Continent existed elsewhere other than the First Haven World.

The Grand Beginnings Continent, although treated like a lower plane due to its specialty, still belonged to the First Haven World. It was sealed in a humongous formation, not situated elsewhere.

”You seem to know about the Aurora Cloud Gate.” Davis pursed his lips, ”How did you gain that information when you just entered the First Haven World?”

Vereina felt his sharp gaze. She felt like she was practically naked in front of him, causing her to raise her head and glare at him.

”You... you really can read minds...?”

”Well, thatʼs debatable, but we really are in the Aurora Cloud Gate. Iʼve just become a true disciple in it.”

Davis perfunctorily answered, his voice neither having pride nor any reliability, leaving Vereina hanging.

She was starting to feel insecure, but if they were really in the Aurora Cloud Gate... her lips curled while her expression became a bit relaxed.

”I do know about the Aurora Cloud Gate, but since you do not deny reading minds, Iʼll leave the specifics to be found out by yourself. All I know is that it is said to be a safe place for Divergents like us, and Iʼm wondering if thatʼs true.”

”It is true.” Davis nodded, not minding sharing the information, ”In my opinion, it is probably the safest haven for Divergents in the First Haven World. Of course, the precondition is that you do not make trouble for the sect more so than ordinary disciples as youʼll be severely scrutinized, or so I read in the rules.”

Vereinaʼs eyes brightened.

”In that case, as a true disciple, you recommend me to the Aurora Cloud Gate. In turn, Iʼll provide you with ten percent of my earnings every year. How is that?”

Davis shook his head, ”I donʼt want your earnings. I said give me a satisfactory reason to place some weight on your words.”

”Uh...” Vereina was at a loss for words.

He didnʼt even want a free worker? She thought he would increase the quota and lower the time period, but with him directly rejecting her monetary proposal, she didnʼt know what to say.

Clenching her teeth, she couldnʼt help but take out something precious to her. It was a necklace with golden thread.

”This... is my masterʼs keepsake.” Vereina extended her hand with a reluctant face, ”You can probably tell that I wonʼt go anywhere without getting it back, so you can have it temporarily.”

”That is indeed convincing, but I donʼt want to have something you hold dear as well.”

”You-!”

Vereina pulled her hand back and glared at him.

What was wrong with this person!?

He was simply smiling as though toying with her, but if not, just what was he interested in then?
