Divine Emperor of Death

2511 Coming To A Consensus

In truth, Davis thought of letting Vereina out in a month or so. After all, his disguise as Feng Chu was going to be known to all pretty much soon anyway. It was just... if he could prolong it, why not?

That was the sole reason he wanted to keep Vereina here.

As for whether Mo Tian or Dead End would be exposed if Vereina were to reveal the fact that he hadnʼt just ascended like yesterday, that really was complicated as Vereina was a Divergent herself. No one would take her word for it but try to kill her if she revealed herself outside.

But now, it could be said that he managed to make an acquaintance with a Divergent, and the other party truly was of the intent to forgive and forget from what he could tell. At least, on the surface, it moved in that direction with the other party trying to be sincere, so he rather hoped that it wouldnʼt turn hostile and, consequently, disappointing.

He really wasnʼt interested in making relationships to offend people like narcissists or villains.

Besides, there was also the fact that Fallen Heavenʼs fate-changing passive nature liked to pit Divergents against him as it did for Myria and him. He wanted to know whether it would be the same for her. If it was, then he would undoubtedly be the winner, so he couldnʼt help but doubt if this was fate trying to screw Vereina instead of him.

”Alright, Iʼll recommend you to the Aurora Cloud Gate.”

”...?”

Vereina frowned as though she heard something incomprehensible before her eyes widened in shock.

”What...? You canʼt be serious.”

Vereinaʼs shoulders drooped. Now she got the feeling that she was truly being played with, her mind becoming cloudy again as she didnʼt see a way out.

Was there no way to escape from this situation?

”Donʼt be so gloomy. It just so happens that Iʼm already satisfied with everything that I have nothing to gain from a person who has just ascended. If you want to thank me for not treating you badly, sure, you can give me something in the future. I wonʼt expect it. However, I decided that itʼs better for us to maintain an allied relationship as fellow Divergents. What do you say?”

”...”

Vereinaʼs expression was complicated, as though she was unsure of his words. Her perplexed gaze, combined with her reluctant expression, only conveyed that his proposal wasnʼt going to be accepted. However, she couldnʼt help but ask.

”Divergents should be alone. I personally experienced that by myself, but what do you hope to gain by being allied with me?”

Davis couldnʼt help but blink. Just now, there was a wave of sorrow swelling in her heart. It seemed like her wicked path sect really was destroyed, perhaps because of her.

Nonetheless, he answered.

”Iʼm recommending you to the Aurora Cloud Gate, so I have the risk of responsibility as well. If you go berserk and commit slaughter while being a disciple of the Aurora Cloud Gate and escape, I will be explainable. However, this is just one of many reasons why I should be allying with you. The main reason is that I want to see what your soul physique is capable of in the future, and for that, I thought it would be better if I kept you closer.”

”Oh,” Vereina couldnʼt help but smile, ”Youʼre not another person after my soul physique, are you?”

*Bzzz!~*

Abruptly, a wave of intense undulations rippled through the air and washed Vereina over, causing her to be dumbstruck as her smirk disappeared and her pupils shrunk. Before her soul could even react, her body began convulsing uncontrollably as her delicate legs almost gave way. But before she could fall, Davis took back his soul undulations and lazily uttered.

”You think your soul triumphs mine?”

”I... guess not...”

Vereinaʼs teeth clattered as she tried to stand straight, her eyes glaring at Davis in both fear and anger.

She knew it was just an ounce of his power, yet it completely overwhelmed her! Her senses already screamed danger in his presence, but with this, she practically confirmed that he was unbeatable at the same cultivation base.

”There you go. I proved that Iʼm not lusting after your physique with one move. If you took offense to that and want to completely leave, then I can only say that we arenʼt fated to be allies. Just so you know, Iʼm not playing around, especially not with another Divergent.”

Davisʼs voice solemnly echoed across.

”No...!” Vereinaʼs gaze became sharp, ”I want to enter the Aurora Cloud Gate. I know you want me to understand the difference between us and maintain the upper hand, but I donʼt want anything other than to live peacefully and cultivate to defend myself. As long as you donʼt hurt me, I donʼt mind this show of force. Iʼve seen plenty to differentiate whatʼs hostility and whatʼs not.”

”Is that so?” Davis was slightly taken aback before he nodded, ”Then Iʼll hope youʼll be true to your words in every sense possible.”

”It goes without saying.”

Vereina answered seriously, causing Davis to nod again.

”Very well. Iʼll induct you soon enough. Until then, you can enjoy these resources as compensation for kidnapping you.”

Davis waved his hand, and an abrupt surge of heaven and earth energy blew up into the air like a tornado. Vereina became stunned at the mountain of immortal crystals gathered before her. There were at least hundreds and thousands of immortal crystals from just a glance, but the next second, she saw it had reached a million immortal crystals!

”What... what are you trying to do now...?”

Vereina became suspicious of this compensation at this moment, looking at Davis with a perplexed gaze. Even if she didnʼt know the true value of immortal crystals, she could at least tell a million was an extremely high number!

”Thatʼs nothing.”

Davis chuckled at her appearance, which reminded him of his poor self a month ago, ”Youʼll be able to earn more than that in a single month if you become a true disciple of the Aurora Cloud Gate, perhaps even more. Even if you cannot, Iʼm sure you will at least be able to become a core disciple if you try hard and still manage to earn significant amounts by doing sect missions.”

”...”

Vereina blinked three times before she took a deep breath, her fine, curvy bosoms heaving before she displayed a pleasing smile toward Davis.

”Since you are a Divergent, I donʼt need to avoid you as much as the others. In that case, Mister Divergent, can I take you as an adoptive father?”

”...”

Not only did Davisʼs expression freeze, but Evelynn, Isabella, Natalya, and Ieshaʼs expressions darkened.

However, if Mingzhi was here, it was little doubt that minx wouldʼve burst into a fit of maniacal laughter.
