Divine Emperor of Death

2509 The Poor Female Ascender

Davis couldnʼt help but smile.

”That kind of tone doesnʼt make me want to let you go...”

He gestured for her to come to him, causing the violet-robed womanʼs expression to turn aghast as she fell back. For some reason, she found it difficult to draw energy before this person, even though she was also a Level One Immortal.

”Husband, whatʼs going on?”

Evelynn couldnʼt help but frown. She knew he was teasing this new woman but who exactly was she?

She felt slightly offended not to know of her existence, especially when she was in his life ring when she allowed almost everything he desired to pass.

”Oh… sheʼs the ascender you mentioned?”

Suddenly, she recalled his words back when he had talked about his adventures. At that time, he had merely said that he interchanged with an ascender to fool others but never thought that it would be a woman.

Davis nodded his head, causing the others to understand. He further sent them soul transmissions, explaining what went on.

This violet-robed woman had been creating a fuss in his life ring, telling him to release her upon waking up. However, he was unable to do anything as he was focused on Mira at that time while his soul body was also dispersed to have full concentration, so he could only let her suffer inside the life ring.

But unexpectedly, after seeing that he wouldnʼt reply, she went around cursing him that he was a kidnapper and a molester before she stumbled onto the place where he stored a few spatial rings. She daringly stole his loot and also stole some ingredients he got from the Void Dust Secret Realm and other locations.

However, as soon as she saw a single strand of annihilative heavenly lightning wisp and many heavenly wind wisps, her expression went pale as she came instinctively came to understand whom she was dealing with and dropped all the items she stole from him.

”You are?”

Davis finally asked the violet-robed woman, causing her to gulp.

”Iʼm Vereina, hailing from the Haze Mountain Soul Sect from the Star River Conti- I mean, lower plane.”

”Mhm, that seems to be the truth.”

Davis perfunctorily nodded in response, causing Vereina to blink.

”Youʼre a wicked path cultivator?” Davis pressed.

”I wouldnʼt say that necessarily in a wider sense, but yes, Iʼm a wicked path cultivator.”

”Why would you say that?”

”My master is a righteous path defector. She taught me that no matter which path I choose, I should just do what feels right for me. Forgive and forget. If you cannot forgive, kill!”

”…” Davis blinked at Vereinaʼs strong emotions as she spoke grandly about her master before she quelled her stature.

Although his Heart Intent made him feel she was telling the truth, her words sounded more like she was teasing and testing him. The others couldnʼt help but also chuckle, albeit silently. They found this wicked path woman amusing.

She seemed to be a different kind than the wicked path women they knew. She wasnʼt solemn like Schleya either, appearing to be easygoing.

”Your master seems like a good person. Didnʼt she come with you? You seem fairly young...”

”This… she… the sect was destroyed, and she lost her life in a tragic encounter.”

Davis turned to look at Evelynn and the others and simultaneously came to understand that Vereina was lying with truth mixed in. However, they didnʼt expose her. They continued asking a few questions, which made them understand her origin.

Apparently, she was an orphan picked by her master from the Haze Mountain Soul Sect. From an early age, she learned soul arts from her master and became proficient in it more than Essence Gathering Cultivation and Body Tempering Cultivation. She also seemed to understand spirit formations.

There were many lies in her statement, but there was one truth.

She lost a beast companion known as Eula, a Goldwater Seahorse. There was deep-seated hatred when she talked about the enemies who killed her beast companion. This was verifiable to a certain degree as he could tell that she slaughtered millions as the karmic sin hanging on her was around five meters tall.

It was the bright red, second-tier karmic sin.

”- after that, I ascended and appeared in the First Haven World thatʼs written in the records, but it seems that I was...”

Vereina came to almost finish her explanation when she couldnʼt help but suddenly tremble, her eyes warily looking at him as she moved her gaze away in fear.

”…”

Davis pursed his lips, his eyes blinking as though he had had enough.

”Vereina, you can drop the act now. I know youʼre afraid, but youʼre also confident of escaping, which I must say that it is far from reality. Just like you have your trump cards, I have mine. I suggest you donʼt use them as you cannot possibly leave here without my permission. Itʼs impossible as youʼre in my palace, which could one-shot an Immortal King.”

”I know Iʼm wrong for kidnapping you and keeping you here, but there are certain things I canʼt let go of as they would endanger my family and me. I can only offend you by keeping you here, so donʼt even try to get on my bad side.”

”…”

Vereinaʼs eyes were dull with hidden shock. How come this man can know what she was thinking? And what the heck? An Immortal King Palace!?

She had heard that it was the next stage to the Immortal Stage. How was a mortal in control of it? However, as soon as she remembered the things inside the life ring, she couldnʼt help but wryly smile.

”Wait- Thatʼs right.” Davis suddenly tapped his forehead, ”I remember your soul possessed a slightly strange aura when I knocked you out. Could it be that you have a soul physique?”

”…”

Vereinaʼs black eyes remained expressionless. She didnʼt reveal any kind of emotion for some time before a layer of clothing fell from her face. She took off her red veil and revealed a tattooed face that made it look like she had a seal over her mouth. At a glance, it was clear to Davis those were inscriptions.

”Mister Divergent, are you a monster?”

Vereina finally spoke as her lips curled, causing Davis to shrug.

”You could say that.”

Hearing his nonchalant answer, Vereinaʼs bosoms heaved as she took a breath.

”I thought I was unlucky and wouldnʼt even pass my immortal tribulation, but who wouldʼve thought a being like you would exist and can even cross your immortal tribulation? My eyes have truly opened...”

Davis knew that she realized his specialty by witnessing the heavenly wisps and feeling their aura. However, he was shocked by her statement just now.

”By that tone, is it correct for me to assume that youʼre also a Divergent?”

The others also became shocked at this discovery. Their gazes couldnʼt help but fall on Vereina with more attention than ever. However, it was a while before Vereina even showed a hint of movement.

Sighing, she answered.

”My soul physique is called the Violent Punitive Soul Physique. It… it allows me to… subjugate and rip out souls, refining them for myself...”

”…”

”Now that you know my secret, you have no reason to keep me here as weʼre both in the same situation. We both tend to gain, so letʼs forgive and forget no matter how much we may have offended each other.”

Davisʼs face was expressionless, but in reality, he was too dumbfounded to answer!

Because... how underneath the heavens did he capture someone like that and keep them locked in a life ring!?
