Chapter 174: New Type Of Seasonings ( 1 )

Each type of pastry and cake costs 1 point for 1 portion, and each portion has a total of 5 pieces. The minimum purchase was 2,000 portions, and the maximum purchase was 20,000 portions. There were a total of 25 types of pastries and cakes.

She had more than 71 million points, so she bought every type at the maximum purchase. In less than 5 minutes, she spent a total of 500,000 points to buy the pastries and cakes.

When she was done, she took out 2 pieces of Golden Pea Cake from her system’s storage.

While she enjoyed the pastries, she checked the system’s storage. She thought that the storage would have a limit, but when she scrolled down, she saw that there were still many empty slots left.

After she had her breakfast, she started cooking lunch. Using the vegetables she grew, she prepared braised eggplant, stir-fried carrots with ginger, smashed cucumber salad, and white radish soup. As for the staple, she took out 200 big buns.

Since she cooked in large portions, she needed to use a big iron wok and 2 stoves. When she was done, it was already 10 o’clock in the morning.

Wiping the sweat off her forehead, Yao Zhi let out a sigh and said, ”Cooking for so many people is so tiring.”

She packed 2 portions of the dishes into two 3-layer bamboo baskets. Then, she took out 15 mantous from her system’s storage. This would be her husband’s, the General’s, and her lunch.

She didn’t forget to fill 2 waterskins and add a drop of spiritual spring water into them. When she was done, she washed her face and hands before she prepared the donkey cart and loaded the lunches.

Before leaving, she went to inform Yang Dalang. With the Yang brothers watching over the house, she was not worried that someone would break into her room and steal something.

When Yao Zhi arrived at the military barracks, it was 10.52 in the morning.

As usual, she parked her donkey cart under the tree and saw the guard go to inform her husband. Although the guards were not the same people from yesterday, she noticed that they took turns guarding the entrance.

It’s not polite to let others run an errand for her without giving anything. So, she took out two pieces of Mi Guo, also known as Chinese steamed rice cake, from her system’s storage.

Unlike other pastries, this cake was as big as a bowl. Based on the size, she would be full if she ate one piece. Since it was as big as a big bun, one piece should be enough for the guard.

She wrapped the cakes with a clean fabric and walked to the guards. Seeing her coming, the guard’s eyes lit up instantly.

He heard from his comrades that Squad Leader Fu’s wife was generous. She would share some cakes and buns with them whenever she made extra. So, when he saw her coming over, the guard smiled and greeted her, ”Sister-in-law.”

Yao Zhi smiled and handed the cake to him while saying, ”Sir, thank you for your hard work. I made some cakes. Please have a try.”

The guard was not shy and accepted it readily. ”Thank you, Sister-in-law.”

He didn’t take the fabric and wrapped the cakes using his own oil paper. Not long after she sat down on the boulder, Fu Chen’an arrived.

He put the empty basket into the cart and took the lunches with practiced movements. Seeing this, Yao Zhi suddenly realized that at some point, she no longer felt awkward around this man. She seemed to be getting used to his presence in her daily life.

’Habit is such a frightening thing,’ she thought inwardly.

Noticing his wife was lost in thought, Fu Chen’an reached out to pinch her cheek lightly and asked, ”Wife, what are you thinking about?”

Coming back to her senses, Yao Zhi shook her head and asked, ”Husband, I harvested the vegetables. Should we sell them to the barracks, or should I sell them in town?”

Hearing this, Fu Chen’an thought for a moment and said, ”Let’s sell them to the barracks. At least, with the General around, no one would dare to pry into our matters.”

Compared to selling them in town, selling them to the barracks was a safer option.

What’s more, he would tell Cook Li that his wife used medicinal soup to water the vegetables once a week. So, even if he found out about the medicinal properties of the vegetables, he wouldn’t be too suspicious.

”Okay,” Yao Zhi agreed readily.

The two of them had lunch together, and she left afterward. After she returned home, Yao Zhi boiled several pots of water again for the workers and went to weed the vegetable gardens. She harvested the vegetables and stored them in her system’s storage.

When she was done, it was time to cook dinner. Thinking about the fish she obtained last time, she opened her system’s lake and checked the fish.

Today was the 34th day since she activated her system’s husbandry. The fish bred once every 5 days, and right now, the number of fish in her lake had increased from 2,000 to a number she couldn’t count.

At first, she thought that the fish she received from the system was a common type.

Unexpectedly, there were also expensive types such as bluefin tuna, king salmon, American eel, yellowfin tuna, Empurau fish, Yangtze River knife fish, mandarin fish, Reeves shad, red grouper, sea bass, snapper, threadfin, mackerel, croaker, flounder, and silver pomfret.

She checked the common types and saw grass carp, crucian carp, bighead carp, black carp, silver carp, Wuchang fish, common carp, snakehead fish, tilapia, catfish, Chinese brill, sardine, and sturgeons.

With such a wide range of choices, Yao Zhi was delighted. She didn’t even bother to think about why saltwater fish could live in the lake together with freshwater fish.

After thinking for a moment, she chose a mandarin fish weighing around 10 kilograms.
