Chapter 159: Black Obsidian Bone Dagger ( 2 )

Although he was skeptical, Altan Yisu still ate one. After all, the red color was truly tempting.

He thought that this fruit would be sour since it looked similar to the wild berries he found before. Unexpectedly, while there was a hint of sourness, it was not overwhelming. The taste was refreshing, as it was sweet and sour.

Noticing his delight, other grassland tribes’ people also came over. Each of them took one of the cherry tomatoes and tried it.

When Altan Yisu regained his composure, he asked, ”Young lady, this is a fruit?”

Yao Zhi nodded and explained, ”It’s a fruit, but can be used as a vegetable. You can use it to make a soup or stir-fry it with eggs. The sourness it adds to the dish is refreshing and can improve the appetite.”

”Can other vegetables be eaten raw, too?” he asked again.

”Cabbage, cucumber, and carrot can be eaten raw, but carrot tastes better after being cooked.”

After she said this, Yao Zhi washed a cucumber and handed it to him. ”Try it.”

Altan Yisu was no longer as hesitant as before and took a bite of the cucumber. The moment he bit into it, they heard a crunchy sound, followed by juice flowing from the corner of his lips.

This time, not only his friends but even the passersby couldn’t help but turn to look at him. During the hot weather, the sweet and refreshing scent of the cucumbers made them salivate.

Noticing this, a smile appeared on Yao Zhi’s face. With more people competing to exchange their goods for her vegetables, she would be able to raise their value and might be able to exchange her vegetables for the black obsidian bone dagger.

Not long after, Altan Yisu finally said, ”Young lady, I want all of your vegetables. You can see if there is anything you like in my stall.”

As he said this, his friends took the cucumber from his hand and took a bite. After they tasted the cucumber and cherry tomatoes, everyone was eager to get some of them.

”Young lady, take a look at my stall, too. My goods’ quality is no less than Altan Yisu’s.”

”Young lady, my tribe is known for our skill in breeding and raising horses. I brought one horse this time to exchange for goods. You can take a look. If you like it, I’m willing to exchange my horse for your vegetables.”

When she heard this, Yao Zhi was taken aback. Horses were expensive and rarely sold in the market. Even if she had warhorses in her system’s grassland, she needed an excuse to take one out.

Seeing that she was interested, the young man quickly led her to his stall. Unlike others, his stall only had items made of leather. Besides the goods, there was a horse tied to a wooden stake.

Although she knew nothing about horses, just by looking at the horse’s mane and body, she knew that it was a good horse. Reaching out, she rubbed the horse’s neck and muttered, ”Such a beautiful horse.”

The young man was surprised to see that the horse let her touch it.

Even though this horse was tamed, it was born in the wild. Its nature was arrogant and prideful. No matter how docile the horse was, it still retained its wildness. It wouldn’t let anyone touch it besides himself.

He didn’t expect this horse to be so docile in front of this young lady.

Unbeknownst to them, the horse could smell the scent of the spiritual spring emitting from Yao Zhi. For the horse, this scent was sweet and refreshing, making it yearn for it.

”What do you want?” Yao Zhi asked.

Hearing this, the young man was overjoyed. He glanced at the vegetables and said, ”I want 10 baskets of your vegetables and 500 jin of grain.”

Yao Zhi raised her eyebrows when she heard this. ”This gentleman, each basket weighs 100 jin of vegetables. You ask for 1,000 jin of vegetables and 500 jin of grain. Don’t you think it’s too much?”

”Although your vegetables are delicious, they’re consumable. After we eat them, they’re gone. Unlike my horse, this one is a stallion. You can use it to breed.”

After he said this, everyone’s gaze turned to the horse.

”Young lady, if you don’t want the horse, I want it,” a middle-aged man suddenly said. He took out a pouch and said, ”Here are 20 taels of gold. I want that horse.”

The young man shook his head and said, ”I only want vegetables and grain.”

”Young man, how about 500 jin of grain and 100 jin of meat?” an old man asked.

”My tribe has a lot of meat. We want vegetables.”

Seeing that money and meat couldn’t move the young man, both the middle-aged man and the old man glared at him angrily. Even if they had money, it didn’t guarantee that they could buy vegetables.

Yao Zhi thought for a while before she said, ”Okay. But I need to go back and get my vegetables first.”

When Altan Yisu saw that she agreed, he became anxious. ”Young lady, it was me who asked you first. You should look at my goods first.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi smiled and pointed at the black obsidian bone dagger, saying, ”I want that dagger.”

Altan Yisu looked at the dagger and frowned. ”That dagger was given by my grandfather. It’s not for exchange.”

”Then I don’t want anything. I’m only interested in that dagger,” Yao Zhi shrugged.

After a long silence, Altan Yisu finally said, ”I can exchange my dagger, but I want 10 baskets of vegetables and 500 jin of grain.”

Yao Zhi laughed when she heard his words. Although black obsidian was rare in this era and very sharp, it was fragile and couldn’t be used for heavy tasks. It was only good for doing menial tasks that needed precision. The price was too high.

”5 baskets of vegetables and 300 jin of grain,” she said.
