Chapter 156: Planting Ginseng And Lingzhi

When she was done, Yao Zhi went to the well and filled a wooden bucket with water from her system’s river. While she was washing her face, hands, and feet, she was tempted to use her removable well.

She could replace the well, but she worried that people, especially her husband, might notice that her water was different from others and bring her trouble.

She considered the pros and cons and still decided against using the removable well. It was better to be more inconvenient than be treated as a demon.

After she finished washing up, she went to the kitchen to cook lunch. While she checked the ingredients stored in the kitchen, she saw a basket of dried mushrooms and suddenly recalled the mushrooms stored in her system’s storage.

Now that she had a vast grassland, she might be able to grow mushrooms there. When this thought flashed in her mind, Yao Zhi quickly opened her system.

There were a lot of mushrooms stored in her storage.

She counted them and realized that she had 150 kg of oyster mushrooms, 180 kg of Lion’s mane mushrooms, 105 kg of black fungus, 135 kg of snow fungus, 210 kg of shiitake mushrooms, and 255 kg of pine mushrooms.

Although the mushrooms had been stored for a long time in the system’s storage, they were still as fresh as when she first picked them up.

Not knowing if they would be able to grow or not, she planted all the mushrooms in the grassland. Even if they couldn’t grow, she could just pick them up and eat them later. After all, they wouldn’t rot when stored in the grassland.

After she planted the mushrooms, Yao Zhi saw the wild ginseng and wild Lingzhi. Since she had planted the mushrooms, it wouldn’t hurt to plant the ginseng and Lingzhi too.

With this thought, she started replanting the wild ginseng and wild Lingzhi. Fortunately, their roots were preserved well, and they were fresh, so it shouldn’t be a problem for them to take root there.

When she was done, she took out her jade bottle and mixed a bucket of river water with 5 drops of spiritual spring water. She used the mixed water to water the mushrooms, wild ginseng, and wild Lingzhi.

It took her an hour to finish everything. Satisfied with the result, she finally started cooking.

Since she had a lot of steamed buns, she took out 4 big buns and 2 pan-fried steamed buns from her system’s storage. For side dishes, she made stir-fried vegetables with pork, smashed cucumbers, and mushroom soup.

At noon, she carried the lunch to the backyard and said, ”Brother Erlang, Brother Sanlang, take a break first.”

Seeing her carrying a tray of food, Yang Erlang grinned and said, ”Sister Yao, you don’t need to cook so much. Steamed buns will do.”

”It’s not much, just some vegetables I grow myself,” Yao Zhi smiled and took the empty jar to the kitchen. She refilled their water and brought it to them.

”Brother Erlang, I’m going to the town tomorrow. So, you can come the day after tomorrow.”

”Sister Yao, are you going to the border market?” Yang Erlang asked.

Yao Zhi nodded and replied, ”My husband is running out of soap. I want to see if I can buy more from the western merchants.”

”You treat your husband so well,” Yang Erlang said with a sigh.

”Not to mention that he risked his life to give me a good life, as his wife, it’s only right for me to take care of him.”

When Yang Sanlang saw her smile, he lowered his gaze to hide his jealousy. He disliked seeing her smiling so happily when she talked about Fu Chen’an.

While he was drowned in his own sourness, he heard his second brother ask, ”Sister Yao, my wife is also planning to go to the border market tomorrow. Can she take a ride with you?”

”Of course. But I’m leaving at dawn. If my Sister-in-law wants to come with me, she can wait at the village entrance tomorrow,” Yao Zhi nodded.

”Great! I will tell her later. Thank you, Sister Yao.”

”It’s just a small matter. Brother Erlang, you don’t have to be so polite.”

After the brief conversation, Yao Zhi didn’t linger there and went to harvest the vegetables. When she finished harvesting the vegetables, she stored them in her system’s storage and went to prepare dinner.

For dinner, she took out 5 eggs from her husbandry’s warehouse and steamed 2 bowls of steamed egg. The big bowl was for the Yang brothers, and the small bowl was for her.

Besides the steamed eggs, she also made crispy salt and pepper tofu, Chinese broccoli with garlic, and mushroom salad. While there were no meat dishes, the taste of these dishes could rival the most popular restaurant in Luo City.

After she was done, she took out 6 big buns from her system’s storage and packed everything in 2 3-layer bamboo baskets.

Fortunately, her husband was someone who was very diligent. She found a lot of bamboo baskets and other bamboo products stored in the woodshed. Otherwise, at the rate she used bamboo baskets, she would have to buy more.

Although they would return the baskets to her, she still barely had enough because most of the bamboo baskets were used to send food to her husband.

Thinking about this, Yao Zhi made a note to ask for the bamboo baskets from her husband after she returned from the border market tomorrow.

Just after she finished packing, Yang Erlang and Yang Sanlang walked to the kitchen. Standing outside, Yang Sanlang said, ”Sister Yao, we are leaving.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi quickly took the bamboo baskets and came out. She handed the baskets to them and said, ”Brother Erlang, Brother Sanlang, these are your dinner.”

”Sister Yao, we already ate 2 meals. We can’t accept this,” Yang Sanlang refused.

”Breakfast didn’t count since you are helping me avoid wasting food. I promised you, and I can’t go back on my word. Just take it and remember to return the baskets to me,” Yao Zhi said as she shoved the baskets into his hands.
