Chapter 164: Wolf Pack

Meanwhile, in the border area, Fu Chen’an and his team were patrolling the area when they saw a group of merchants surrounded by a pack of wolves.

Seeing this, he pulled out an arrow and drew his bow. Narrowing his eyes, he aimed at the biggest wolf. As he released the arrow, a whistling sound pierced the air as it flew toward the wolf at a fast speed.

Sensing danger, the wolf ducked to the side.

STAB!

Although it managed to avoid being shot in a vital area, the arrow still hit its hind leg and pierced through its bone.

”Aawooo~” the wolf let out a long howl.

The next second, Fu Chen’an drew another arrow and shot at the wolf.

STAB!

This time, the wolf failed to dodge due to its injury, and the arrow managed to hit the wolf’s back.

Seeing this, the wolf pack turned and saw a group of people. Realizing that their leader had been shot and that they were at a disadvantage, the wolves let out a long howl and tried to escape.

”Awwoo!”

”Aaawwoooo!”

Noticing their intentions, Fu Chen’an said, ”Charge!”

Following his order, the soldiers pulled out their weapons and rushed forward. In just a few seconds, the soldiers engaged in a battle against the wolf pack.

As the Squad Leader, Fu Chen’an was the one who fought on the front line.

With a blade in his hand, he slashed at the wolves. His attacks were fierce and powerful despite lacking flashy movements. Each of his attacks aimed at the vital points of the wolves.

Blood spurted out, staining the ground red.

20 minutes later, 2 of the wolves tried to escape. Seeing this, Fu Chen’an shouted, ”Stop them! Don’t let any escape!”

Wolves hold grudges. If they escaped today, they would definitely take their revenge one day. To avoid facing a hidden danger every day, they had to kill all of the wolves today.

As soon as the soldiers heard his words, their killing intent increased, and their attacks became more ruthless. After 10 more minutes, the last wolf was finally stabbed to death.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that none of the wolves managed to escape. Fu Chen’an swung his blade to clean off the blood and said, ”Tie the wolves. Tonight, we will have meat to eat!”

The soldiers cheered at his words and quickly cleaned up the area. Although they were injured, it was only minor injuries, and they didn’t fuss over them.

While the soldiers were busy tying the wolves, Fu Chen’an walked toward the merchants. Seeing that there were only 4 young men and 1 young woman, he raised his eyebrows and asked, ”Are you all right?”

The woman was clearly terrified. Her face was paler than paper, and her body was trembling. As for the men, while they were pale, they were still able to react.

2 of the men suffered heavy injuries to their legs, while the other 2 suffered minor injuries here and there.

Seeing the bow on his back, Jagal Temur recognized it instantly. That was the bow and arrows he sold earlier.

He took a closer look at the soldier in front of him. Compared to the Great Yan Kingdom’s people, he seemed more like a grassland native. From his murderous aura, he must be someone who has killed many.

He was curious about his relationship with the young lady and wanted to ask. But when he met the soldier’s cold gaze, he changed his mind. This person was not someone he could be trifled with.

Noticing that one of them was staring at him, Fu Chen’an asked again, ”Are you alright?”

Altan Yisu nodded and said, ”Thank you for saving us, Sir. We are fine.”

Fu Chen’an nodded and said, ”You should take care of your wounds first before continuing your journey.”

After he said this, he didn’t stay and turned to leave. But before he could take several steps, he felt a tug at the hem of his clothes.

Turning around, he saw the young woman grabbing his clothes. ”What are you doing?” he asked coldly with a frown.

”S-sir, can you please stay with us for a while?” the young woman asked while staring at him with her teary eyes.

When he met her pleading gaze, Fu Chen’an frowned deeper. He used his blade’s sheath to strike the woman’s wrist, forcing her to let go. Without even answering her, he left in large strides.

Before, he wouldn’t have treated women this harshly. But now that he was already married, only his wife could touch him. If other women dared to touch him, he wouldn’t show leniency.

He didn’t want to end up having a concubine out of nowhere and being abandoned by his wife.

When the soldiers saw their Squad Leader walk over with a dark face, they didn’t dare to slack off. In less than 20 minutes, they had tied up all the wolves. Fu Chen’an collected his arrows and said, ”Let’s go.”

Hearing this, the soldiers carried the wolves and followed him. It was almost time for the next team to take over the patrolling duty, so they returned directly to the barracks.

After they left, Altan Yisu noticed his sister still staring at the soldiers’ retreating figures. He patted her back and said, ”That man is not simple. It’s better not to get involved with soldiers.”

”Brother, I just want to thank him and have no other intentions,” she replied in a low voice.

When he heard this, Altan Yisu shook his head and said, ”Our parents will choose a husband for you. You’d better behave. Otherwise, even our Grandpa can’t help you.”

The young woman’s face turned paler at his words. She didn’t want to be sent as a concubine to another tribe, but she also didn’t want to marry the men in her tribe.

This was the first time she had seen a man as dashing as that soldier, and her heart was moved.

She wanted to marry him. Even if she couldn’t stay with her family anymore, she would be willing to follow him. Unfortunately, his heart was cold, and they had no fate.
