Chapter 161: Black Obsidian Bone Dagger ( 4 )

At noon, Yao Zhi arrived at the military barracks. When the guards saw her, one of them quickly went to inform Fu Chen’an.

After she gave a handful of grass to her donkey, Yao Zhi took out a set of bows and arrows, a pair of leather boots, and the black obsidian bone dagger from her system’s storage.

Thinking about her husband’s complaints last time, she opened the system’s shop and bought a box of body soap bars. The body soap bars were cheap, costing only 1 point for 5 pieces, each weighing 50 grams.

With so many soap bars, it should last him for at least 2 to 3 months.

While she was checking the system’s shop, Fu Chen’an received the news about his wife’s visit.

As soon as he heard the report, he put down the half-eaten marrow cake in his hand and took all the empty baskets, waterskins, and the 3-layer bamboo basket before rushing to find his wife.

It only took him 5 minutes to reach the military barracks’ entrance. The moment he saw his wife’s flushed cheeks, he walked over and called out, ”Wife!”

Hearing her husband’s voice, Yao Zhi turned and smiled. ”Husband, you are here.”

Fu Chen’an placed the empty bamboo baskets on the cart and reached out to wipe the sweat from his wife’s forehead. ”Wife, didn’t you say that you wouldn’t come today? Why did you come over?”

”I just got back from the border market and bought some soap. Also, I exchanged the vegetables for some good items,” Yao Zhi said as she showed the items to him.

At first, Fu Chen’an thought that the items must be some miscellaneous goods. But when he saw them, surprise flashed in his eyes.

The leather boots, bow, and arrows were well-made. ”Wife, these things must have cost a lot.”

”Not really. The price of vegetables is high, and I used several baskets to exchange these items.”

Seeing that her husband didn’t check the black obsidian bone dagger, Yao Zhi picked it up and pulled it out of the sheath. ”Husband, look at this.”

Fu Chen’an’s interest was piqued when he saw the pure black dagger. When he almost touched the blade, Yao Zhi quickly stopped him and said, ”Husband, be careful. This dagger is made from black obsidian and is very sharp.”

”Although it’s fragile, would break if dropped, and couldn’t be used for heavy tasks like stabbing or piercing, if you use this dagger to slice skin or flesh, the result is better than the sharpest blade.”

”If you use it to cut off rotten flesh, the wound will heal faster because the sharpness of the blade causes minimal damage to the tissue. Since it’s made from stone, it won’t rust or corrode.”

After hearing his wife’s explanation, Fu Chen’an frowned and asked, ”Since this dagger is so brittle, then why did you buy it?”

”Husband, when you go to battle, you might get injured, and if your wound is not treated, you might lose your life. We don’t know what kind of injuries you might suffer during battle.”

”Although this dagger has limited uses, you can use it to treat wounds. For example, removing poisoned flesh, cutting open flesh to remove a barbed arrowhead, or similar injuries. Anyway, it never hurts to have a backup plan,” Yao Zhi explained patiently.

Fu Chen’an stared at his wife for a long time before he nodded. ”Okay.”

Yao Zhi didn’t tell him that this black obsidian dagger was better than a surgical scalpel when used for surgery. But he already thought of how to use the dagger.

Compared to his wife’s intentions, this dagger’s usage could be maximized if he used it to assassinate the enemy leader. Such a sharp dagger, with just one slit, he would be able to cut the veins cleanly.

Since the medical knowledge in this era was not as advanced as in the modern era, and with her almost zero medical knowledge, Yao Zhi didn’t dare say too much in case she caused misinformation.

After they chatted for 15 minutes, Yao Zhi said, ”Husband, I will come visit you tomorrow. I need to go back now.”

”Alright. Be careful on your way back.”

Before leaving, Yao Zhi pulled at his collar and whispered, ”When you come back, I have a surprise gift for you.”

Feeling her warm breath brush his ear, Fu Chen’an felt his body heat up. He turned his head, and his lips brushed past the tip of his wife’s nose.

Both of them were stunned, and it took them a few minutes to regain their senses. Yao Zhi was embarrassed and quickly said, ”I’m leaving.”

”O-oh, okay,” Fu Chen’an stammered as his ears reddened instantly.

He stood there for a long time even after his wife was no longer in sight. Only when he had calmed down did he return to the barracks, carrying the gifts given by his wife.

At this moment, there were only Xiao Wei, Wang Tiezhu, and Liu Bowen present. The three of them had just returned from their lunch and were having a rest before their patrolling duty.

When they saw the leather boots, bow, and arrows, they were full of envy.

”Brother Fu, did your wife send you good things again?” Wang Tiezhu asked.

”My wife visited the border market this morning and exchanged these for the vegetables she grows. She always worries about me. To reassure her, I can only accept all of these things,” Fu Chen’an said helplessly.

The moment they heard his words, the three of them rolled their eyes.

”Chen’an, if you want to brag, just do it openly. There is no need to pretend in front of us,” Xiao Wei said.

Hearing this, Fu Chen’an grinned and replied, ”What can I do when my wife loves me so much?”

Although they were annoyed, what he said was right. Who told them not to have his good blessing and marry a caring wife?

Despite their annoyance, they still came over to look at the items.
