Transmigrated To Ancient Time: Thrive With An Auction System!

Chapter 117: Northern Drought, Southern Flood ( 1 )

The vegetables sent by Xue Ya’er were already more delicious than those sold by ordinary farmers. But compared to these vegetables, the difference was too great.

Another cook nodded and added, ”Cook Li, we’re really getting a bargain. The price you offered to Squad Leader Fu’s wife is low.”

”No matter how delicious they are, can they compare to meat?” a middle-aged man said unhappily.

Usually, the task of buying ingredients was handled by him, and Cook Li never intervened. He could earn some pocket money by taking advantage of the price difference.

But now, Cook Li handled the transaction directly, and he couldn’t earn a single penny. The money used to buy these vegetables should have been enough to purchase a large amount of meat. What a waste!

”Cook Wei, you can’t say that. After eating these vegetables, I feel more energized, and my fatigue has lessened by more than half,” a young cook said.

As soon as he spoke, everyone realized that their bodies indeed felt lighter.

”Could it be that these vegetables have an effect on improving our health?” Cook Li muttered in disbelief.

”Impossible! Do you think these vegetables are medicinal herbs? If we could improve our health just by eating them, then what would be the point of drinking medicine and consuming tonics?” Cook Wei retorted.

Although everyone had their doubts, there was no concrete evidence to prove that these vegetables had any effect on nourishing the body. In the end, everyone chose to remain silent.

Not knowing that her vegetables had caused a group of cooks to argue in the military barracks, Yao Zhi went to the vegetable garden and cleared the grass. After the cart was removed and stored in the woodshed, her donkey went to sleep after eating.

She worked for an hour before she finished pulling out all the weeds. She stored the weeds in her System storage. These would be used as her donkey’s feed.

When she was done working in the garden, Yao Zhi boiled a pot of water and washed up. After changing into a set of clean clothes, she felt much better.

As she walked to the kitchen, she saw a patch of dark clouds hovering in the distant sky. Thinking about the locust plague, she frowned.

From what she knew, a locust plague would take several months to form. As long as they could prevent the locusts from experiencing a population boom, they could avoid the disaster.

Not to mention how backward transportation was in this era, with the imperial system in place, she couldn’t warn the officials about the possibility of a locust plague even if she wanted to. As a commoner, one wrong move might cost her life.

She could only hope that other areas wouldn’t experience heavy rainfall after a long drought.

Unfortunately, despite her hopes, the southern area of the Great Yan Kingdom was facing floods after continuous rain for several months.

At this moment, in a desolate wasteland, a swarm of locusts was jumping about. The area surrounding the swarm was barren, without even a single weed in sight.

In the imperial capital, a man in his late forties was reading a secret letter sent from the southern area inside the Duke of Zhenguo’s Manor.

After reading the letter, he threw it into a small brazier. In just a few seconds, the letter was engulfed in flames and reduced to ashes. He sat in the study for an hour before picking up his brush and writing another letter.

When he was done, he sealed it and called out, ”An Wu.”

The next moment, a man dressed in black clothes knelt in front of the large desk with his head bowed. ”Master, what is your order?”

”Send this letter to the northern border. Make sure you hand it to Lu Qianxuan personally,” Wu Yongzhen said.

”Understood.”

An Wu accepted the letter, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared from the room. After he was alone, Wu Yongzhen stood up and opened the window. He looked at the gloomy sky and muttered softly,

”Hopefully, it’s not too late.”

With the disaster slowly approaching, people pass the day as usual.

Early the next morning, before dawn, the first thing Yao Zhi did after waking up was check the system’s shop. She was hoping to encounter another promotion.

Just as she hoped, there was indeed another promotion deal. However, today’s deal was not steamed buns. She clicked on the promotion and checked the items.

Today’s promotion was chicken and duck. 5 chickens cost 7 points, and 5 ducks cost 12 points. The minimum purchase to qualify for the deal was 1,000, and the maximum purchase was 50,000 for each type.

Yao Zhi was dumbfounded when she saw the price. It was such a good deal!

She currently has more than 2,000,000 points. Since she had plenty of points, she wouldn’t let such a good deal slip through her hands.

She clicked on the promotion and bought both ducks and chickens at the maximum purchase, costing her a total of 190,000 points. After the purchase, she still had a total of 1,911,480 points remaining.

Since chickens and ducks were livestock, they couldn’t be stored in the system’s storage. While Yao Zhi was still wondering what to do with them, she heard a ding, and a blue screen appeared in front of her.

On the blue screen were 2 icons that looked similar to husbandries. Besides the icons, there was also a box. The next moment, she heard the familiar mechanical voice echo in her mind.

”Congratulations to the Host for collecting a total of 100,000 livestock. As the Host has fulfilled all requirements, the system’s husbandry can now be activated.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi asked, ”System, do I need to spend points to activate the system’s husbandry?”

”The Host only needs to spend 1,500,000 points to open the system’s husbandry.”

The moment she heard the price, Yao Zhi felt a pain in her chest.
