Chapter 95: Asking For A Reward ( 2 )

It was common knowledge that military men were hot-blooded and rough. They were straightforward and very protective of their families. If you said something rude toward their family, you should expect them not to give you any face in return.

Mu Luo had been working as a military physician for decades, and he was already used to the soldiers’ rude behavior and didn’t take Fu Chen’an’s words to heart.

He rubbed his hands together and said in a buttering tone, ”Squad Leader Fu, it’s my fault for saying those words. I apologize to you.”

Since he had lowered his stance, Fu Chen’an knew when to stop. He only nodded but said nothing.

Seeing that he was no longer angry, Mu Luo continued, ”Squad Leader Fu, you see, the General’s wound is not healing even after so many days.”

”I want to ask for some of your wound ointment and find out the ingredients. If we can recreate this ointment, it will lessen the number of our brothers dying due to wounds.”

Fu Chen’an also had this intention, so when he heard the old man’s words, he only hesitated for a moment and handed over the jade bottle. ”Just a little bit,” he reminded him.

”I know, I know,” Mu Luo nodded and used a bamboo stick to scoop a little of the ointment and put it inside a small jade jar.

Afterward, he walked to the bed and said, ”General, I will apply the ointment.”

Lu Qianxuan nodded and let him work. Feeling the coolness of the ointment, he let out a silent sigh. It had been a while since he felt so comfortable.

When Mu Luo finished bandaging his wound, he no longer felt the burning pain. Instead, he felt warm and relaxed.

Mu Luo returned the ointment to Fu Chen’an, but instead of taking it, he said, ”Since the General needs this ointment, you can keep it. Just return the jade bottle and the rest of the ointment to me after the General’s wound is healed.”

Hearing this, Lu Qianxuan raised his eyebrows. He saw how stingy this person was just now. For him to suddenly give this ointment to him, he wouldn’t believe it if the man had nothing he wanted.

”What reward do you want?” he asked directly.

Fu Chen’an was also not someone who liked beating around the bush. He cupped his fists and replied, ”General, if possible, this subordinate wants to ask for your permission to allow my wife to visit me more often.”

”Only that?”

”This subordinate only wants that.”

Recalling the delicious dishes cooked by Fu Chen’an’s wife, Lu Qianxuan finally understood why he only had this one request. After a moment of silence, he said, ”Approved.”

When he heard this, Fu Chen’an smiled and cupped his fists. ”Thank you, General.”

After checking the wound ointment, it was time to check the medicinal water. Unlike before, this time Fu Chen’an took the initiative to pour a cup of medicinal water for the General.

The cup was made of ceramic and was enough to hold five sips of tea. Due to its small size, only the General used it. As for the soldiers and other military officers, they preferred using a bowl.

The moment he opened the waterskin’s plug, the minty scent filled the air. Mu Luo was intrigued and picked up the cup. He took a deep sniff and realized that, besides the minty scent, there was no other scent.

Using a small spoon, he scooped a little and took a sip. This time, he was completely stunned. After a moment, he regained his composure and asked, ”Squad Leader Fu, are you sure this is medicinal water?”

”Physician Mu, why did you ask this?” Fu Chen’an asked in return.

”While this water tastes sweeter compared to well water and also has a minty scent, it is only normal water. At most, it’s only mountain spring water.”

Hearing this, Fu Chen’an frowned and took a sip of the water from the waterskin. Since his body had not fully recovered, he could feel the effect instantly. Compared to before, the effect of this medicinal water was stronger.

Looking at the old man, he said, ”I’m sure this is the medicinal water prepared by my wife. When I brought the General back to the camp, it was thanks to this medicinal water that I was able to stop the bleeding.”

When Lu Qianxuan heard this, he raised his hand and said, ”Bring the water over.”

Mu Luo’s disciple quickly brought over the cup of medicinal water and said, ”General.”

Lu Qianxuan took the cup and finished the water in one gulp. Perhaps due to his poisoning and wounds, he could feel the effect almost instantly. His eyes flickered for a moment before returning to normal.

Knowing that it was good stuff, he looked at Fu Chen’an and asked, ”Fu Chen’an, are you willing to part with this medicinal water?”

Even though he was unwilling, Fu Chen’an knew that refusing the General would do him no good. So, albeit reluctant, he still cupped his fists and replied, ”This subordinate is willing.”

Noticing his reluctance, Lu Qianxuan smiled and said, ”Don’t worry, I won’t take your things for free.”

After he finished his words, he stood up and went to his desk. He wrote something before stamping his personal seal on the paper. After he put the letter into an envelope, he sealed it and handed the letter to Fu Chen’an.

”As long as you bring this letter to the General’s mansion, my wife will compensate you.”

Fu Chen’an didn’t refuse and accepted the letter. Since he had nothing else to do, he said, ”Thank you, General. This subordinate will take his leave first.”

”Go ahead.”

After leaving the General’s tent, he returned to his own tent. When he entered, Xiao Wei waved at him and said, ”Chen’an, I brought your dinner back.”

Fu Chen’an was heartbroken after losing his wound ointment and medicinal water, but it didn’t lessen his appetite. After he put the letter into his wooden box, he opened the food box and started eating.
