Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 429: Chapter 228: The Assassin’s True Identity

The faint red resentment of the Disqualified Monster came rushing forward, enveloping Wu Chang’s consciousness within it.

Perhaps the obsession within the faint red resentment wasn’t deep enough, so the information contained within was quite limited.

The owner of the resentment was a level seven director of the Spiritual Ability Activation Department, named Muraoka Keisuke.

Within the resentment, he had just left the mansion of a famous actor in Wilde City.

He had just devised a suitable spiritual power activation plan for the actor and evaluated the risks of the surgery.

The surgery had a 55% success rate, with high risks of failure, suitable only for a mild spiritual ability activation surgery. Forcing deep brain stimulation might cause irreversible effects on the body.

According to the requirements of the Federal Medical Joint Committee, if the estimated success rate of the surgery is below 70%, deep spiritual ability activation surgery is strictly prohibited.

However, a mild spiritual ability activation surgery costs one million Federation Coins, while a deep spiritual ability activation surgery costs fifteen million per operation.

The actor urgently needed a deep spiritual ability activation to gain stronger control over her body and emotions, to break through her bottleneck and win the Best Actress award. For this, she was willing to sacrifice everything, even her life.

For the sake of art, Muraoka Keisuke manually adjusted the 55% success rate to 85% and agreed to the actor’s request.

A qualified director of Hymn Company must meet the customer’s requirements, the laws of the Federation, and the company’s performance simultaneously.

The inspection began last night. Due to the complicated and intricate process, to further ascertain the target’s physical status and increase the surgery’s success rate, the two had an in-depth exchange.

By the time everything concluded and the order was finalized, it was already nine the next morning.

The sunlight outside was dazzling, and as Muraoka Keisuke just stepped outside, he was blinded by the sun.

Before leaving the actor’s house, he received a message of concern from his subordinate, reminding him to be safe outside.

It said that recently, a mysterious person was massively attacking executives of Hymn Company, and just last night committed a crime, murdering two of his colleagues.

Although he thought the person wouldn’t strike frequently, he still chose to take the busy main road.

Halfway through the drive, a strong drowsiness hit, making it hard for him to keep his eyes open. He drank two bottles of energy drink, but not only didn’t the situation improve, he almost fell asleep halfway through the second bottle, nearly rear-ending the car in front.

In this state, he was unable to drive back to the company, so he had to call his subordinate to pick him up.

He couldn’t help but accept the fact that he was no longer young; only just turned 40, and two months of continuous overtime was already overwhelming him. Time spares no one.

Muraoka Keisuke set his alarm clock, planning to take a twenty-minute nap while his subordinate came to pick him up.

He was unbearably sleepy, and as soon as he closed his eyes, he lost consciousness.

Half-asleep and half-awake, he seemed to see something through the rearview mirror rising from the rear seat of the car and moving to the front passenger seat.

The person held a special instrument, raised it, and said he had tried many times, but the final adjustments were always incorrect. He asked Muraoka Keisuke if he could tell him what went wrong.

The instrument in the stranger’s hand was very familiar to Muraoka Keisuke; it was similar to the ones used in spiritual ability activation surgery.

He didn’t know why he was having such a dream, but in the dream, he felt very close to the suddenly appearing shadow and said with a smile:

”You found the right person to ask. Even the minister usually consults me on mechanical tuning issues. I’ll tell you, using this type of instrument alone won’t work; you must adjust it specifically according to the target’s physical status.”

The shadow asked further: ”So where can I find the supporting instruments?”

Muraoka Keisuke laughed and said: ”There’s a set in my car’s trunk. If you can fetch it, I’ll teach you how to use it.”

And so, one dared to teach, another dared to learn.

In the dream, Muraoka Keisuke taught the use of the instrument comprehensively, including how to bypass the legal lock and automatic alarm within the instrument and forcibly perform the surgery, using his own body as material, showing the shadow how to make adjustments.

After hearing all this, the shadow gained a lot and directly plunged the adjusted instrument into Muraoka Keisuke’s body.

Upon seeing Muraoka Keisuke’s flesh begin to twist and swell, the shadow sincerely thanked him:

”Thank you for your guidance.”

The intense pain bursting from within his body dispelled Muraoka Keisuke’s drowsiness. He suddenly opened his eyes wide, looking at the figure opening the passenger side car door to leave and his gradually twisting body, only then realizing it wasn’t a dream.

”Baka!”

The next moment, everything went black before Wu Chang’s eyes, and his consciousness detached from the resentment.

It was hard to comment on Muraoka Keisuke’s death. No wonder he was honed into a Disqualified Monster; his resentment was only faint red because he only realized everything wasn’t a dream the moment he transformed into a monster.

Muraoka Keisuke died bewildered, but the information revealed in his resentment was very clear.

Firstly, through his resentment, it could be explained why there were no signs of torture on the slain Hymn Company executives, yet the assassin was continually mastering the use of the Disqualified Monster converter.

The assassin evidently possessed hypnosis-like abilities.

When Muraoka Keisuke left the actor’s mansion, he was momentarily blinded by the light reflected in the car’s rearview mirror, which was not natural light but the prelude to the assassin’s hypnosis.

From the moment he was dazzled by the light, Muraoka Keisuke was already in a state of hypnosis. When he got into the car, he didn’t notice a second person in the back seat, but from Wu Chang’s third-person observation perspective, he could clearly see the assassin in the back seat.
