Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 427: Chapter 227: The Stolen Disqualified Monster Transmuter_2

During many protests against Hymn Company, the crowds often raise banners from Sid Town.

Placing two executives in front of the Sid Monument for execution, the killer’s intent is clear—he’s targeting Hymn Company.

From the killer’s clean and swift method, it’s evident that this was premeditated; he knew the executives’ movements intimately and was confident in his abilities, believing Hymn Company and the Federation couldn’t catch him.

With such a troublesome figure targeting them, it’s uncertain how the top management at Hymn Company will react.

Wu Chang’s suspicions quickly yielded results.

At 8:05, all Level Eight managers received notifications for an emergency meeting.

The meeting was held in a confidential conference room on the 97th floor, initiated by Hymn Company’s security advisor, who is also one of the four Level Nine partners and former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mo Ke.

Entering the confidential conference room, everyone took their seats according to the nameplates on the table, which were arranged based on their performance metrics.

Wu Chang sat in his seat, feeling quite novel as Sean’s memories had never placed him in this position.

It’s not because Sean’s performance was too poor to sit at the back row; rather, he was never called for emergency meetings related to security.

According to the performance metrics, Farrell was seated next to Wu Chang.

The two sat side by side, and the atmosphere became somewhat peculiar.

Wu Chang contemplated how to kill Farrell, and if Sean weren’t Schultz’s brother, Farrell might be pondering how to kill him too.

They exchanged glances, both showing friendly smiles, then lowered their heads, contemplating something.

Once everyone was seated, Mo Ke cleared his throat and started the meeting.

The meeting’s agenda was related to last night’s shootings, but it encompassed more than just last night’s incident.

With Mo Ke’s operation, several reports were projected in front of everyone, and Wu Chang quickly skimmed through them—each report detailed a murder case.

The common points are: all occurred within the last month, and the deceased were employees of Hymn Company with job Levels ranging from Five to Seven.

The last report was the very news he had just seen.

Wu Chang tapped the final report, spreading it across the table into a holographic projection.

The image showed two executives struggling desperately, a shadow emerging behind them, executing them each with a shot.

The two fell to the ground post-shot, in the exact posture as the crime scene photos.

These reports are reconstructed crime scenes based on evidence collected on-site, ballistic analysis, body data of the deceased, and other information.

Wu Chang, like scrolling through short videos, kept swiping through the list and noticed that in all reconstructed videos of the crime scenes, the assailant’s movements were clean and efficient, without any fumbling.

After reviewing the files, everyone couldn’t help but have two questions.

Firstly, what gives him the nerve to be so brazen in Wildor City?

Secondly, what is the Security Department doing, why haven’t they caught him?

Feeling the crowd’s gaze, Mo Ke said:

”As you’ve seen, in recent times, an unknown individual has been targeting the middle and upper-level employees of Hymn Company with assassinations.”

”Calling you here today is to inform you all. Have your departments’ employees be cautious of suspicious persons while completing daily tasks. In the upcoming period, locating and dealing with him will be one of our most important tasks for all departments.”

This statement prompted furrowed brows from the managers in attendance.

What does that mean? Why should tasks typically managed by the Security Department be shared with other departments, involving our personnel and potentially affecting performance? Who’s to be accountable?

The Spiritual Ability Activation Department Minister, now ranked fourth, was particularly unhappy. Originally comfortably ranking in the top three, Wu Chang’s soaring achievements had pushed him down to fourth place.

What kind of joke is this? As one of the three core departments, being knocked out of the top three is disgraceful.

He was fuming, determined to bolster his performance, when suddenly the Security Department intervened—how does dead employees outweigh the impact on core department performance?

”Just one person, deserving deployment from all departments?”

Faced with the skepticism from the Spiritual Ability Activation Department Minister, Mo Ke solemnly replied: ”Yes, it’s worth it.”

Everyone’s attention was drawn towards Mo Ke, who then addressed the crowd:

”This individual is no ordinary anti-Hymn faction; half a month ago, somehow, he infiltrated the second laboratory and took some items—things that ought not to exist outside Hymn Company.”

”Employees murdered by him, while forensic examination reveals no anomalies, our own checks do. This guy wasn’t simply killing employees; he used those items on them before each murder.”

”From the two bodies found last night, it appears he’s close to mastering the usage of those items.”

The Spiritual Ability Activation Department Minister cautiously queried: ”What exactly did he take?”

Mo Ke’s voice trembled slightly as he spoke: ”The converter capable of creating Disqualified Monsters, that’s what he took; a whole box, six units!”

”Last night, both deceased individuals had traces of conversion method from the converters on their bodies, and their bodies underwent slight transformation, albeit incomplete. He seemed to extract one converter unit to test the conversion apparatus. I estimate he has at least four remaining Disqualified Monster converters.”
