Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 408: Chapter 221: Came Knocking on the Door

Wu Chang entered the elevator and pressed the highest floor button, 99.

While waiting for the elevator to ascend, he searched the memories in the mind of his body’s former owner.

The Hymn Company, originally an unremarkable arms company within the Federation, began a sweeping reform shortly after current chairman Schultz took over fifteen years ago.

By increasing investment in research and development, bringing in a large number of talents, and changing the company’s promotion management system, the Hymn Company soared, becoming the largest arms company in the entire Federation within just three short years, and has maintained a dominant lead for twelve consecutive years.

Of course, this is the official statement of the Hymn Company.

The most widespread conspiracy theory about the rise of the Hymn Company is that it collaborated with the Federation to dismantle an alien spacecraft, obtaining alien black technology which led to its rapid technological advancement.

Regardless of the reason, the status of the Hymn Company is indisputable, especially in its headquarters located in York City, where calling it the local Emperor would not be an exaggeration.

At high-level gatherings in York City, if representatives from the Hymn Company are not present, it’s said that not even starting the meal by uncovering the lid of a dish is permitted.

The presence of the Hymn Company has brought a huge amount of tax revenue to York City, transforming it from a minor outpost in the Federation into a giant city second only to Third New York City in the Capital.

At the same time, however, it brought special trouble to York City.

Disqualified Monsters.

No one knows where these monsters come from or how they are formed. They appear out of nowhere, attacking and devouring all living creatures they encounter, mimicking their behaviors and actions based on the memories of those consumed.

In addition, each Disqualified Monster has a different special ability, which is very tricky and difficult for ordinary armed forces to handle.

Disqualified Monsters only appear in York City and around the large branches of the Hymn Company within the Federation, making people more convinced of the alien spacecraft conspiracy theory.

The emergence of Disqualified Monsters accelerated the decline of traditional arms, causing the high-tech arms manufactured by the Hymn Company to become the first choice for armies and individuals.

As the biggest beneficiary, even a fool can see there is something problematic between the Hymn Company and the Disqualified Monsters.

People’s suspicion of the Hymn Company never stopped, but their suspicion was worthless.

Because the umbrella behind the Hymn Company is too big, too hard.

Five years ago, led by the Hymn Company’s biggest competitor, the Federation Firearms Association launched a grand crusade against the Hymn Company.

Environmental groups suspected the Hymn Company of discharging toxic waste, causing the formation of Disqualified Monsters; animal rights groups suspected the company of conducting a large number of live animal experiments, damaging the ecosystem;

The Blue Party accused the Hymn Company of racial discrimination for not hiring enough minorities; the LGBTQ community demanded reconsideration, stating there weren’t enough restrooms for gender minorities within the company and demanding at least five more types of restrooms.

Cooperating with the Federation Firearms Association’s allegations of illegal propaganda; industry unions claiming the Hymn Company severely exploits employees, and the Trade Commission launching an antitrust investigation, demanding the Hymn Company split its business.

For a time, various heroes sent representatives to gather in York City to join the grand occasion.

The scene was livelier than the six factions besieging Bright Peak. ℯ

During that time, the eyes of the entire Federation and even the whole world were fixed on York City, waiting to see how the Hymn Company would respond.

The result surprised everyone.

The Anti-Hymn Alliance, comprised of not six, but more than a dozen organizations, gathered in York City, and on the second day after the joint press conference,

a Disqualified Monster attacked the hotel where the major representatives were staying, and no one who attended the press conference survived.

The Hymn Company held a press conference overnight, expressing condolences for the tragedy and claiming that they needed to intensify the development of stronger automatic armed systems, arguing that only powerful firepower can protect the Federation’s people from the threat of Disqualified Monsters.

The Hymn Company’s blunt counterattack shattered the worldview of all onlookers, but soon they realized that their worldview was shattered a bit too early.

People originally thought that after committing such an evil deed, the Hymn Company would at least face some sanctions, if not removal, to appease various parties.

However, the follow-up to the incident was: there was no follow-up.

The matter ended inconclusively, and seven days later, under media guidance, everyone’s attention shifted to a certain celebrity’s mansion hoarding thousands of bottles of baby oil.

Since then, no one dared to provoke the Hymn Company again.

Ding.

As Wu Chang was recalling memories in his mind, the elevator had already stopped at the 99th floor.

At the elevator entrance was a corridor about twenty meters long, with several offices on both sides, inside sat twenty to thirty young, beautiful girls.

They were all secretaries of the chairman, some responsible for work, some for scheduling, some for daily life arrangements.

None of them were mere vases; all came from top schools across the Federation, including assistants only available during certain periods for personal affairs.

All assistants who can sit on this floor enjoy at least a level six employee treatment, which is why they vie to get in here.

As for why Schultz even selected top talents for personal life assistants, there is only one reason: according to his childhood words, he feels nauseated when talking to dumb people.

This isn’t just a simple expression of preference; every time he gets off the phone with the comedic actor-turned-governor, Schultz would gag.
