Chapter 196: Chapter 153: False Miracle

Perhaps the grudge of the Miracle Moon runs deep enough that completing the Blood-Colored Will of the Miracle Moon’s attribute reward is more than ever before.

points of Life, 2 points of Energy, 2 points of Inspiration, 1 point of Will, totaling 8 attribute points.

A full 8 attribute points, double that of the deep-red grudge, showing the weight of a grudge that turns black.

Besides the attribute rewards, the grudge of the Miracle Moon also provided Wu Chang with an item.

The item appears like a miniature version of the Miracle Moon, resembling a mythical giant tree, grand and solemn, completely unlike the Great Miracle or Fire Master’s twisted, fleshy Tree of Miracles.

「Item Name: False Miracle」

「Artifact Level: A」

「Item Description: The spiritual crystal of a Miracle Walker, proof of a Miracle Walker’s consciousness awakening and thinking like intelligent life, and also its inevitable fate of awakening only to die soon after.」

「Note: While it’s asleep, it’s often used to fabricate false miracles, and when it realizes that fake miracles are no less significant to the wishers, its abilities begin to change.」

「Item Skills: False Miracle」

「Skill Description: Make a wish to the False Miracle to obtain a time-limited degraded miracle. To some extent, degraded miracles are similar to true miracles but will come with some indeterminate negative effects. The strength of negative effects depends on the difficulty of the wish being realized, and the maximum difficulty of wish realization depends on the user’s Energy and Inspiration attributes. Cooldown time: 15 days.」

As an A-Level item, the effect of the False Miracle is straightforward and blunt, which is to make wishes.

However, after being with Fire Master for a long time, the Tree of Miracles learned the bad habits from Fire Master.

When Wu Chang looked at the note in the item description, he saw the mental journey of the Tree of Miracles’ transformation through the residual thoughts in the False Miracle.

During the three years of expansion of the Soul Light Sect, Fire Master would annually utilize the power of the Tree of Miracles, cooperating with personnel and resources temporarily dispatched by the Peaceful Sect, to create the illusion of triggered miracles.

The believers couldn’t distinguish between the fake and the real, so they took the fake as truth. As more people believed the fake was a true miracle, the believers’ Wish Power flowed into the Tree of Miracles, continuously strengthening the illusion.

Over time, the fake started to resemble reality to some extent.

Fire Master created the illusion, convincing the believers.

The believers thought miracles appeared and provided a large amount of Wish Power.

The Tree of Miracles absorbed a huge amount of Wish Power, constantly altering the illusion, making the fake become real.

At this point, a closed circle formed. Fire Master only needed to deceive the believers at the start. He could roll the snowball of Wish Power endlessly, operate a False Miracle, and use the circulation of Wish Power in this cycle to provide energy for the Tree of Miracles.

Hitting multiple targets with one arrow.

If no one disturbed it, he could use the same old trick to send Luz and others to sabotage Mikhail I’s plans so that Mikhail I couldn’t monopolize the Blood Moon Power.

Then, by attacking the Gravekeeper, allow the Blood Moon Power to overflow the Royal Tomb, deliberately breaking the city walls and letting the undead into the city, creating a doomsday scenario.

Finally, by blocking the zombies with the Soul Light Cathedral’s abilities and using the reputation and influence accumulated by the False Miracle, tell the surviving believers that only the Soul Light Sect can save them. Only the Soul Light Sect can lead to miracles and make the believers willingly provide their Wish Power.

Unlike the previous False Miracles, if successful this time, Fire Master would gather enough Wish Power by creating a false doomsday to trigger a true miracle.

On Blood Moon night, he would complete a grand closed loop with the three years of Soul Light Sect’s operations, leading from a fake miracle to a genuine one.

Thus, reality would emerge from falsehood.

Unfortunately, he finally encountered Wu Chang, causing all his efforts to come to naught.

No, to be precise, Fire Master succeeded because he indeed triggered a true miracle, but the beneficiary of the miracle was not him.

To some degree, this might be the ”certain indeterminate negative effect” mentioned in the False Miracle skill.

Seeing the False Miracle, Wu Chang knew that a way to deal with the Management Bureau’s core membership registration had emerged.

As an A-Level item, the False Miracle should have no problem disguising the Player’s Attribute Panel, the only issue being what the indeterminate negative effect would be.

However, for such a minor wish, the negative effect shouldn’t be too severe.

Besides the item effect of the False Miracle, there was other information that Wu Chang paid special attention to.

It was the fate of the Miracle Walker mentioned in the item’s note.

Awakening means death.

This statement carries a lot of information, which echoes the scenes he saw in the Miracle Moon’s grudge.

In the Miracle Moon’s grudge, because of its fusion with the Great Sage, it began to have human-like thoughts, transitioning from an absolutely neutral observer to having personal preferences, morality, and ethics.

This change corresponds to the consciousness awakening mentioned in the item description.

Also, due to the awakening of its consciousness, after its consciousness dies, the method by which the Blood Moon grants immortality becomes strange and twisted.

The grudge of the Miracle Moon also fits the fate of awakening meaning death since only dead things congeal into grudge and it is in the grudge that it mentions a desire to rest in peace.

The problem then arises. The Miracle Walker who conversed with Wu Chang in the Spiritual Space exhibited a detached rationality that did not match the image of the Miracle Moon.
