Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 179: Chapter 148: Beyond the Barrier

Looking at Oda’s blood-colored will, Wu Chang couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Two benefits from one fish, is that even possible?

The dead is the greatest, and since little Baka had written his will so sincerely, he had to fulfill the deceased’s wishes.

The completion of the ranger’s blood-colored will caused Wu Chang’s Agility and Will Attributes to each increase by one point, while his Inspiration increased by two points.

With the increase in Attribute Points, Wu Chang’s Inspiration formally reached 100 points.

Upon reaching 100 points of Inspiration, his gaze became hazy, and in a daze, he entered a state similar to an Out-of-Body Experience.

His consciousness began to float upward, soaring into the infinite sky. Though the speed of his soul’s ascent was slow, it wasn’t long before he touched a barrier, a barrier covered in a grey mist.

That barrier restricted his soul, or rather, it restricted his Inspiration, preventing it from spreading beyond the barrier.

What did the barrier separate?

Was it segregating the Midnight Graveyard Dungeon area?

Or was it separating the first layer of the Abyss from the second?

He was curious, wanting to see what lay beyond the barrier; stimulated by curiosity, his Inspiration expanded, making his perception of the heights clearer.

Under his enhanced perception, the mist inside and outside the barrier thinned, allowing him to vaguely see the existence beyond.

He spread his Inspiration all around, finally finding a proper angle.

Through the cracks in the grey mist, he saw countless eyes waiting on the other side of the barrier.

Among those eyes, some were full of greed, eager to squeeze through the barrier immediately.

Another part of the gaze was more complex, containing greed and some indescribable emotions.

As Wu Chang ”looked” at them, they discovered Wu Chang as well.

Immediately, a murmuring sound, faint yet present, reached Wu Chang’s ears, tempting him to worship the beings outside, to offer his soul and devotion, and he would obtain everything he ever wanted.

Facing the invitation from outside the barrier, Wu Chang responded with a middle finger.

In an instant, it was an uproar outside the barrier.

They couldn’t tolerate a mere ant inside the barrier expressing disrespect towards them. As they accumulated power, preparing to strike Wu Chang brutally across the barrier, Wu Chang’s soul suddenly plunged, returning to his body.

Opening his eyes, his consciousness had already returned to his flesh; as he sat up, he felt a sudden dizzying spin, and a severe headache ensued.

Ouch.

Such powerful extraterrestrial demons; even across the barrier, they managed to injure him severely, and the injury reached his flesh through his soul.

He reached out and held his head, feeling a large bump on his forehead that almost brought tears to his eyes.

He turned his head and saw Erin standing beside him, holding the Light of Steadfastness in her hand, suddenly feeling something was off.

”What just happened?”

The honest Erin, without hiding anything, said, ”Just now, your Inspiration went out of control, and your soul left your body, seeing things it shouldn’t. I noticed something following your sight, locking onto you and extending its tendrils, so I used the True Divine Body to break its tendril and woke you up in the process.”

Erin spoke, handing a piece of transparent tendril to Wu Chang. From the root where it turned to meat paste, it was evident that it was forcefully smashed.

Wu Chang gulped, ”Breaking it and waking me up, was it a single action?”

Erin nodded, gesturing with the Light of Steadfastness in her hand, saying, ”I just tapped it lightly.”

Wu Chang looked at the hammerhead the size of a water barrel and figured, well, he found the culprit. If she’d used more force, it wouldn’t be waking him up but sending him away.

He thought, given the constraints of the Desolate Realm’s laws, even Erin’s true form inside the Desolate Realm would be greatly restricted using the True Divine Body, so what gave those things outside the power to harm him?

If Erin didn’t have a nearly saint-like character, he would certain think this was Erin’s revenge for when he slapped her during her awakening in the Peaceful Town and knocked out two of her teeth.

No, whoever caused the injury should be responsible.

He pointed to the bump on his forehead and said to Erin, ”I need healing.”

Erin waved the Light of Steadfastness like a Magic Wand, ”Hold on, I’ll heal you right away.”

Wu Chang quickly grabbed Erin’s hand, ”Such a small injury can be healed without a Magic Wand, put the hammer away; I’m terrified.” ℴ

He began to regret giving the Light of Steadfastness to Erin; if it were a Treasure Sword or a banner, there wouldn’t be so much hassle.

Looking at Wu Chang’s expression, Erin seemed to notice something. She hesitated for a moment, put away the Light of Steadfastness, placed her hands on Wu Chang’s cheeks, and pressed her forehead against his.

The next moment, Holy Light Magic flickered, and the headache on Wu Chang’s forehead disappeared.

Erin stepped back half a step, then blew a breath towards Wu Chang’s forehead, ”Pain, fly away.”

After doing all this, Erin’s cheeks turned slightly red, ”When I was a child and got hurt, the Great Nun at the Church would treat me this way. Are you feeling better now?”

Wu Chang was about to nod, then suddenly shook his head vigorously, painfully clutching his mouth.

”It seems my mouth is injured too, it really hurts, Miss Erin, please heal it too.”

Erin tilted her head in confusion but quickly realized what Wu Chang was thinking, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red, and pulled out the Light of Steadfastness once more.

”If it’s such a severe injury, I’ll need to use even more powerful Magic.”

Wu Chang jumped up from the ground like a carp, saying without any embarrassment, ”Haha, it seems I made a mistake, just some residual pain, no need for treatment.”
