Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 186: Chapter 150: Isn’t This Also a Kind of NTR_2

The determined Fire Master no longer looked at the Soul Light Cathedral, but followed the believers in prayer, determined to trigger a miracle in one fell swoop.

Inside the Soul Light Cathedral, Wu Chang held the Soul Cleansing Banner, walking through the mezzanine of the cathedral. With each wave of his hand, he could purify more than a dozen blocks of Living Corpse Bricks.

Watching the countless Soul Qi ascend to the heavens, the feeling was more relieving than watching an ox hoof clean a carpet.

This high-frequency purification speed seemed like a massive undertaking, but in reality, it did not burden him at all.

Even though the Soul Cleansing Banner is only a C-Level item, it has significant origins. The item description mentions it as an ancient artifact, inscribed with the Daoist Orthodox Technique on its surface.

Purifying Living Corpse Bricks is such a trivial affair that for the Soul Cleansing Banner, the consumption is so low it’s almost negligible. With each purification of a Living Corpse Brick, a trace of white Qi from the liberated Soul Body merges into the banner.

Wu Chang hadn’t noticed this before, but with his inspiration breaking through 100 and encountering such large-scale purification, the Soul Cleansing Banner’s effect of absorbing Soul Qi became apparent.

Every trace of Soul Qi that merges in slightly strengthens the Soul Cleansing Banner, and the excess power also flows through the banner into him, compensating for the energy he expends.

Roughly estimated, the energy consumed by purifying Living Corpse Bricks is less than what is transmitted from the Soul Bodies.

This is no longer a perpetual motion machine, but an electric meter running backward.

The purification process of the Living Corpse Bricks went smoothly, and to his surprise, apart from the initial bricklayers he dealt with, the purification went unbothered by the Soul Light Sect.

This allowed him to completely purify the Living Corpse Bricks in the mezzanine in just four to five minutes.

As the last section of the Living Corpse mezzanine was purified, the Soul Cleansing Banner absorbed a large amount of Soul Qi, and the previously obscure text on the banner became clear, emanating a faint white light.

In the next moment, the Soul Cleansing Banner, which is not a growth-type item, surprisingly increased an artifact level.

「Item Name: Soul Cleansing Banner.」

「Artifact Level: B.」

「Item Description: An ancient artifact, the banner recording the Daoist Orthodox Technique. Combined with other Command Flags, a complete Cultivation Technique can be pieced together.」

「Item Skill: Soul Cleansing」

「Skill Description: Activating the Soul Cleansing Banner allows entry into the Divine Travel Perspective, seeing nearby soul and spirit bodies, and calming and purifying spirit-type monsters. Suppresses Evil Qi and eliminates Obsession and Resentment, allowing Soul Bodies to find peace.」

「Item Skill: Soul Nourishment」

「Skill Description: With each completion of Soul Cleansing, the user can absorb part of the Essence Qi from the Soul Body, permanently strengthening their own soul.」

With the upgraded Soul Cleansing Banner, the ability Wu Chang sensed as the electric meter running backward was crystallized into a concrete skill. ℴℴ𝘮

However, the newly added Soul Nourishment Skill, judging from the skill description, is difficult to gauge in strength, as the player’s panel lacks a soul attribute column, making the soul’s enhancement hard to quantify.

But based on Wu Chang’s experience, skills with stackable attributes are never too weak, and the Soul Cleansing Banner’s purification was an unexpected joy anyway, leaving nothing to pick at.

The appearance of the Soul Nourishment Skill is the most apparent change in the Soul Cleansing Banner, but Wu Chang’s intuition tells him that the changes in the item description hold the true secret hidden within the banner.

Before purifying the Living Corpse Bricks, the item description of the Soul Cleansing Banner only mentioned the banner recording the Daoist Orthodox Technique. The upgraded version explicitly states that combining it with other Command Flags can piece together a complete Cultivation Technique.

Based on the capabilities of the Soul Cleansing Banner, the Daoist Orthodox Technique recorded on it would not be weak. However, collecting all the Command Flags would surely require some effort.

Moreover, collecting the Command Flags might require returning to the ”Perennial Peace” dungeon.

Judging from the arrangements of Fire Master and the Peaceful Sect across the various planes, there must be items or methods that allow players to enter specific planes or revisit previously explored planes, but whether they will work after breaking through the plane needs further verification.

Putting away the Soul Cleansing Banner, he closed his eyes and used Spiritual Power to sense the Wish Power above.

A massive energy mass had already formed, and the so-called miracle had already been created.

What needs to be done now is for the believers to inject their wishes into this energy mass through Wish Power.

The believers are not directly wishing upon the Moon of Miracles. Their prayer targets are the Soul Light Sect, which acts as a middleman, first collecting the believers’ Wish Power, modifying it, and then resonating with the Tree of Miracles and the Moon of Miracles to trigger the miracle.

The gathering Wish Power from the believers kept increasing, but it was just one line short of triggering the miracle, also due to a middleman step that caused a large amount of Wish Power to be deducted by the Tree of Miracles, rather than being passed directly to the Moon of Miracles.

In simple terms, the believers are only responsible for offering vast Wish Power to trigger the miracle, while the exact nature of the miracle is up to the Soul Light Sect.

Isn’t this a form of NTR?

No way, Wu Chang is a warrior of pure love and can’t stand this.

He must properly punish this yellow-haired Fire Master.

Outside the Soul Light Cathedral, the Fire Master led the believers in loud prayer, reaching the most crucial moment in gathering the miracle.

But the closer he came to success, the easier it was to fail.

With the Living Corpse Bricks purified, the believers mistakenly thought it was the prelude to a miracle, completing the final Wish Power needed for the miracle to occur.

However, the purification of the Living Corpse Bricks also caused the deterrent power of the Soul Light Cathedral to disappear, no longer able to continue repelling the living corpses.

As the last threads of the Soul Body ascended to the sky, a vast blood moonlight enveloped the area, bathing in the blood moon’s glow. The eyes of the living corpses shimmered with blood-red light, a horrifying sight.
