Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 260: Chapter 259: Musashi and Chansey

On Ghost Island, Setsuna, who had returned from Peach Blossom Spring Farm, encountered Yamato and the others. Initially, there were four Milcery. Yamato and the others’ Milcery evolved into Alcremie, but only Setsuna’s retained its original form.

Although she insisted she wasn’t a child anymore, she was still very happy to take care of the Milcery. After learning the method of evolution, her Milcery also evolved into an Alcremie, but its color was pure white.

The flavor of this Alcremie was reminiscent of creamy snow salt, making it a rare salty variant among Alcremie, producing salty cream.

This suited her palate more, as the beast genes inherent in the Fur Race made her very particular about salt intake, but she also noticed someone watching her intently.

”What are you looking at? Never seen someone from the Fur Race?”

”N-no I’ve never seen...”

Ohara is a holy land of archaeology, not biology. Before meeting Saul, Robin hadn’t even seen the Giant Race, let alone the mysterious Fur Race of the New World.

Although the Ohara incident had ended months ago, and they had been on Ghost Island for a long time.

But she couldn’t normally interact with the officers of the Hundred Beast Corps. The Thousand-Year Dragon in its ancestral grand bird form, and the Electivire on Sky Island generating electricity were the creatures she had encountered most frequently.

Back then, Olga’s human-beast form primarily retained a human appearance, and Maria’s medicinal modifications were ongoing; she could become a complete spider but never a Spider-Man, so a beastman like Setsuna was a first for her.

”You are quite...honest... no need to sneak a look. If you have questions, just ask me directly.”

She wasn’t seeing this kind of gaze for the first time, having been away from Zou for many years, she was more or less used to it.

”But when you meet other Fur Race members, don’t act like this. Most of them are friendly, but some can be quite unpleasant, like certain very fat cat Fur Race individuals.”

At the Hundred Beasts Pokemon Center Training Department, an outside physician was teaching some Chanseys medical knowledge. Because of their differing abilities, Audino, Comfey, and Chansey were divided into three medical groups.

Chanseys served as emergency nurses, requiring skills in first aid and patient comfort. Comfey specialized in the Traditional Chinese medicine therapy department, responsible for post-operative rehabilitation or nursing, while Audino served as physician assistants, substituting for electrocardiograms and stethoscopes to check patient conditions.

Chansey’s work appeared to be the simplest but was actually the most complex, even combining their skills. However, among these Chanseys was a human.

When Musashi and her mother arrived here, her mother easily passed the certification. Her decades of experience in medicine were not for show, especially her proficiency in herbal medicine.

But Musashi was different. Though she had no problem with bandaging and emergency care, her personality was somewhat impatient, not particularly suited for the nursing profession; she would be more suited for security work.

There were some matters that people from the Hundred Beasts dared not handle, and she was once the leader of delinquent girls in Ringo, naturally possessing an intimidating air against the locals of Wano Kuni.

The reason she stayed was because she became familiar with the Chanseys, like the person researching how to massage Chanseys. The Chanseys’ appearance garnered many fans, Musashi being one of them.

In some ways, Musashi displayed her outstanding talent, quickly learning Chansey-ese, a level of communication even those doctors who had initially joined the hospital might not achieve.

Moreover, Musashi’s impatience was directed at certain individuals. For the Chanseys, she had ample patience.

Chanseys also had talents; some were good at bandaging, some at administering IVs. When some Chanseys failed in certain tasks, they would inevitably feel a sense of frustration, which was when Musashi comforted them well.

This is probably an innate skill, something others envied and couldn’t replicate.

Chansey’s anatomical structure differed from humans; they lacked the visible veins that humans had on their skin. Nevertheless, intravenous injection was a commonly used treatment method, a skill they had to master.

This demanded practice, initially using plastic dummies, but eventually, they had to engage in practical exercises, not directly on patients initially, so nurses had to practice on each other.

Many nurses and doctors offered their hands, including Musashi, but this made some Chanseys hesitant.

”Lucky....”

This Chansey missed its mark for the third time, noticing the tiny pinpricks on Musashi’s hand, it felt inadequate.

”It’s okay, it’s common in practice at the start, it doesn’t hurt at all.”

Musashi’s reassurance was unconvincing to the Chansey, since it had pricked itself with a needle.

”Lucky....”

”Don’t be discouraged, you’ve made great progress. This time you were just a little off, come on, try again, you’ll certainly succeed this time.”

This wasn’t an isolated incident; Chanseys misapplying bandages, using excessive force in wound cleaning, these situations often occurred, similarly with new nurses.

Encouragement and criticism happened frequently, but overall, the skilled nurses were helping the Chanseys and new nurses grow quickly.

After several attempts, the Chansey accompanied by Musashi finally succeeded.

”Lucky!”

It took an egg out and handed it to Musashi, then joyfully ran out.

”What is this?”

”It’s a Chansey egg, a fantastic food item only given to those recognized by the Chansey. It seems to have acknowledged you,” explained a doctor beside Musashi, noting only a few had such recognition.

As August approached, the temperature on Ghost Island grew considerably warmer, but with the help of the Rotom air conditioning, the temperature inside remained comfortable.

After an indeterminate amount of training, Yamato succeeded in making Kaidou use a second finger at the cost of Ajin 3.0 falling.

Due to a previous promise, Yamato obtained the opportunity to go out and play. It coincided with the Hundred Beast Pirates’ annual trip to the Shampodi Islands.

Every year around this time, a grand auction is held there, or rather, auctions continuously take place due to its geographical location, attracting people from both the New World and Paradise.

The unique location makes some areas prosperous, and every August, someone from the Hundred Beasts goes there to check it out.

Treasures from all over the world are sent here, potentially mixed with messages about Plates, or even the Plates themselves might be present.

Previously seeing an introduction to the Shampodi Islands in the atlas, Yamato became interested in the soap bubble-themed park there....
