Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 691: A Formal Laboratory for Students and Teaching Assistants

After leaving Academy Head Mei’s office, I immediately contacted Yi Rui and her group.

However, this matter was still a bit hard to explain through communication, so I planned to tell them face-to-face.

As for the research, it was no longer an urgent matter.

I could slowly wait for the laboratory that Academy Head Mei applied for to be ready before proceeding.

With a formal laboratory, we would have a proper venue, and I thought Yi Rui and her group would be very happy.

Upon returning to the villa, Big Sis Bai didn’t say anything to me.

She used the most direct action, rushing to my side immediately.

Words are always pale and powerless in the face of action.

However, the Academy Head’s efficiency was very fast.

Just as I was about to set off to find Yi Rui and her group, Big Sis Mei informed me that the permission for the promised laboratory had been secured, and there was even a dedicated person to deliver it.

“Big Sis Bai, I’m leaving, oh. Aiya I’m already in the Witch Academy. I don’t always need to worry about my safety in the Witch Academy, do I?”

“I’m just worried about you. With your ability to cause trouble, I’m genuinely uneasy no matter where you are.”

Big Sis Bai said with a hint of helplessness.

After all, look how little time had passed before we were forced to meet again...

“Alright, alright, I’m a trouble-maker. But I’m leaving first, as I have an agreed-upon time to meet.”

I pointed at the time and bid farewell to Big Sis Bai.

When I arrived at the meeting location, the people gathered there immediately swarmed me.

“Big Sis Little Han, are you alright?”

“Yeah, that situation back then... it was really scary.”

“Hmm? You’re all here. I’m fine, I’m fine. How could anything happen to me?”

I immediately reassured everyone, preparing to put the matter behind us.

After all, I was entirely responsible for this incident, and they were also implicated.

Back then, I was a little flustered due to the sudden appearance of the Totem and didn’t have time to explain things clearly to them.

So here, I simply recounted the cause and effect to them.

Regardless of whether they fully understood it, I had described the sequence of events.

After all, those who personally experienced it had the right to know the truth, and I would satisfy them.

But they still seemed a bit confused and didn’t fully grasp the situation.

Of course, the main reason was that they were somewhat unable to believe that so many Transcendent Academies would target the Witch Academy so fiercely.

In the past, the Witch Academy was isolated by the other academies, and we isolated them.

We didn’t bother with each other, and the Witch students occasionally caused some trouble for their academies.

Thus, the Witch Academy was in a self-contained, single-player mode for a long time.

Most students weren’t quite clear about the temperament of those academies, only knowing that they were definitely hostile to the Witch Academy.

But this shouldn’t have escalated to a matter of principle at the Transcendent level, should it...

But now, the Witch Academy was getting closer to the other academies, and occasional frictions were gradually becoming apparent, yet they hadn’t anticipated that the other Transcendent Academies were hostile to the Witch Academy to such an extent!

“It’s just because you mastered a power called the Totem, so they don’t plan to let you go. And... most of them didn’t even recognize this thing called a Totem?”

“Something like that. The other Transcendent Academies... are just ill-intentioned. They can’t stand to see us do well, that’s all.”

I shrugged.

“I’m still concerned about that Spatial Rift... Come to think of it, those few major commotions that occurred in the academy before... were all caused by you, weren’t they?”

“Uh... that shouldn’t be all of them, right?”

I quickly corrected her, feeling as though I was being portrayed as a destabilizing factor in the academy.

If we were really talking about causing a big commotion... didn’t the Transcendent Witches cause much more?

It’s just that many times, no one knew about it.

Take the situation in the academy’s Alchemy Zone, for example.

Didn’t Witches constantly blow up their own alchemy labs?

“Alright, then let’s not talk about that for now. Since I was forced to return to the academy, what should we do with our next experiment? Should we continue? But the only venue we have is this fixed one...”

At this moment, many people showed troubled expressions.

After all, the academy was not as casual as the Expansion Realm.

Causing trouble in the academy came with a price.

“Oh, are you still worried about that? Don’t worry. As soon as I returned, Academy Head Mei called me in to inquire about the situation. I took the opportunity to inform her about the research we are conducting. Although Academy Head Mei is too busy to attend in person, she still applied for an Independent Research Lab for us.”

“What?”

Everyone was stunned when they heard my words, as they hadn’t expected Little Han to be so efficient.

And what did they hear?

The Academy Head personally inquired and even applied for a laboratory for them, the students!

Of course, this might also be related to the huge commotion Little Han caused, forcing the Academy Head to care, but without some relationship, who would open this kind of door of convenience?

That was the Witch Academy’s Independent Laboratory!

In the past, they followed their mentors to gain experience, learn knowledge, and summarize and self-study techniques little by little.

I remember back then, when they wanted a complete laboratory to research their project, even their mentor, a Transcendent Witch, sometimes failed the application and had to sneakily conduct experiments in her personal lab, which was sometimes her modified villa.

Many people still remembered those days of constantly running around.

“Of course. Let’s go. You might not know what the experiment we are doing now represents, but you only need to know that it is affirmed by the Academy Head.”

After my words, everyone was extremely excited.

They were actually participating in an experiment that was affirmed by the Academy Head!

They felt they could brag about it even in front of their own mentors...

Submerged in this atmosphere, they all followed me, leaving their inconspicuous club gathering place, and headed for their brand-new laboratory!

And I led them to the laboratory.

After all, it was my first time going there, and I wasn’t familiar with the route.

I stumbled along the way, but being accompanied by a group of excited, chattering girls prevented me from feeling bored.

“Wow... that looks like the Witch Academy’s Research Base...”

“We usually don’t have permission to come here, do we?”

As everyone spoke, I predictably encountered an obstacle in the air.

“Sure enough, we need permission to enter this area.”

“I heard this research base area is a region located within a separated space. Although it looks close, if you force your way in, you definitely won’t get through.”

“I heard that too. One senior sister forced her way in and was reportedly trapped in a Spatial Maze for five days before getting out.”

“Is it that absurd?”

I also listened to their conversation with some curiosity, but at this moment, a spell projection popped up in front of me, similar to a permission confirmation.

After the permission was confirmed, I immediately acquired the laboratory director’s permission and could add others to gain member permission.

This meant that here, whoever applied for the laboratory was the laboratory director, and they were also responsible for managing the members of the laboratory.

After a little exploration, I added everyone as a member.

“Huh? There’s also a proxy director? Yi Rui, I’ll give this permission to you. Not everyone who came with me should be here yet, right? You can help review and issue permission applications later.”

After all, everyone had just returned to the Witch Academy, and many had their own things to attend to, so not everyone could wait for me.

Therefore, I planned to hand over the member review permission to Yi Rui, as I trusted her greatly.

“Mm, alright.”

Yi Rui did not refuse.

Although the club members all knew Little Han, whether they were close friends depended on her.

After dealing with these minor matters, I led everyone to the laboratory.

“Wow... is it really this big inside?”

“Look! The paving material of the entire laboratory, there’s even such a large area of...”

“Hey, hey Everyone, please have some composure. Don’t look like you’ve never seen the world before!”

After a burst of excitement from everyone, they all accepted this reality, but the excitement still hadn’t subsided.

“Everyone, familiarize yourselves with the equipment operation first. Then, put away any unnecessary equipment, as these things are all very expensive.”

I said to everyone at this moment.

Just as everyone followed my suggestion and got busy, I also began planning the laboratory work ahead.

I encountered one problem during the experiment at the Sixth Sanctuary, but I hadn’t had time to deal with it, and now I was forced to return to the Witch Academy.

The problem was... the efficiency of personnel utilization for an experiment involving so many people was simply too low!

But this couldn’t be helped.

Not only was I the one who proposed this experiment, but I was also the only person capable of actual operation right now.

Others currently did not have the qualification to participate in this experiment; they could only serve as ”guinea pigs.”

So, I couldn’t just let them remain idle now.

But... simply letting them hold Academy Head Mei’s thesis wouldn’t be of any use either.

So, I planned to teach them a few spells, for example... the Resurrection Spell.

Learning the framework of the Resurrection Spell would help them gain a fundamental understanding of the spell in the time to come.

It would also give them a basic cognitive understanding of ”death” during the experiment.

Of course, another point was that learning the Resurrection Spell would give them a foundation for learning other derivative spells of the Resurrection Spell.

And if any of them could learn the ”Incubation Rebirth” Spell that I was about to derive, I wouldn’t mind teaching it to them.

After all, they were my experiment ”materials” later.

If the materials could use the Incubation Rebirth spell from the experiment, they would have more autonomy when faced with experimental accidents.

Of course, this was mainly to help accelerate the experiment’s progress.

After everyone had roughly familiarized themselves with the equipment in the laboratory, I gathered them all and gave a brief overview of the upcoming schedule.

After all, in a few days, I would have to participate in this semester’s low-grade final exam.

Before that, I also had to attend the Teaching Assistant meeting, so the time was a bit tight.

But that didn’t matter.

The Self-generating Magic Power experiment was still in the preliminary stage of member coordination and principle exploration.

If the Incubation Rebirth Spell wasn’t derived before I left, they would continue to delve into the in-depth research of the Resurrection Spell and preemptively study the theoretical stage of the Magic Power Source condensation technique.

Since the Magic Power Source condensation technique was structured upon Self-generating Magic Power, studying it, even if they couldn’t condense Magic Power now, would help them understand some characteristics of Self-generating Magic Power from a different perspective.

And if the derivation of the Incubation Rebirth Resurrection Spell was completed during these days, they would then focus entirely on researching this Resurrection Spell, striving for everyone to understand its principle.

It wasn’t mandatory for everyone to learn it, but they had to understand the principle.

Furthermore, Yi Rui also said that if the Incubation Rebirth derivation was successful, she would ask her mentor, Mentor Belica, to help create it as a Spellbook.

After all, this was in the Core Realm of the Main World, enveloped by the Great Weakening Spell.

The power of spells cast bare-handed was greatly reduced, and only systematic spellbooks could resist this weakening to a certain extent.

This was mainly to ensure more stable casting.

Of course, conducting these experiments in the Expansion Realm would naturally be ideal, but the Expansion Realm was not as convenient as the Witch Academy.

It was a matter of pros and cons.

So, in the period to come, we fully immersed ourselves in the derivation of the Incubation Rebirth Spell.

As the research progressed, we discovered that the initially envisioned ”Incubation Rebirth” seemed to be somewhat off course.

Our current progress was less of a derivation and more of an Extension Spell structured upon the Reincarnation Spell.

The meaning of an Extension Spell was that it could not exist independently, separate from its prototype spell, unlike a derivative spell.

If we forcibly derived it into an independent derivative spell, structuring ”Incubation Rebirth” with the Resurrection Spell as the prototype, the resulting spell effect would be inferior to the Extension Spell effect structured with the Reincarnation Spell as the prototype.

This problem indeed troubled us for a long time.

It could be said that the research in the first few days went very smoothly, but we were ultimately stuck here.

Some problems were not solved by slowly grinding away with time, but by having a flawed idea.

Perhaps if we had an epiphany, we could perfect this derivative spell in as little as one afternoon.

Ultimately, after I received Teacher Lina’s message, our current progress only yielded two ”semi-finished products.”

One was the incomplete derivative spell, Incubation Rebirth, structured with the Resurrection Spell as the prototype.

Of course, it wasn’t that the spell itself was incomplete, but its effect was unsatisfactory.

It couldn’t compare to the effect of the next semi-finished product, which is why it was jokingly called a semi-finished product.

The other was the ”Incubation Rebirth” that could only be structured as an Extension Spell of my Reincarnation Spell.

It hadn’t transformed into an independent derivative spell, but its effect was better than the previous ”semi-finished product.”

“How about... I invite our mentor over? I think if we can’t solve this problem, perhaps it’s not that we are clumsy, but that we don’t have enough accumulation and insight yet.”

“Exactly. We only just started learning the Resurrection Spell these few days. We can’t help much. It’s all Big Sis Little Han leading the way...”

“That is indeed a solution.”

I looked at them.

This was the first time they had suggested seeking help from their mentors in the past few days, which showed that they were truly out of options.

And I was thinking about something else.

Just now, I also realized that I had almost been led astray by the current dilemma.

Incubation Rebirth was never a mandatory goal, but a convenient tool to boost our research efficiency.

The Incubation Rebirth Spell was merely a phased achievement, a goal that could be replaced at any time.

Our pursuit should not be perfection, but usability, and then refinement towards near-perfection.

Therefore, I leaned more towards the Incubation Rebirth structured with the Resurrection Spell prototype.

Although its effect seemed somewhat ”naive,” at least compared to the Reincarnation Spell, it seemed a bit naive, but it represented the potential for refinement.

I agreed to them calling their mentors over just to have this derivative spell manufactured into a Spellbook.

This was because I had understood from the start that a Spellbook was a platform for a derivative spell.

It was a tool for continuously researching and for people to access and understand spells!

And now I also understood that a witch would only transform a Spellbook into a non-tradable ability once it had been perfected to a ”flawless” degree.

A Spellbook, when traded, did not trade the spell itself, but a systematic platform for researching the corresponding spell prototype.

“Then... for the next short period of time, this laboratory will have to be entrusted to you all. I will retain all the research information of the Extension Spell structured on the Reincarnation Spell in the form of Earth Vein Information, to facilitate your study and your mentors’ review.”

“So soon? The final exam is about to start?”

“I can’t help it. Teacher Lina is preparing to send me to a meeting. See you later.”

“Mm, see you later.”
