Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 677: What the Domain Prototype Lacked

When the bell for the college entrance examination rang, the most important moment of the year began.

The entire examination center was also brought within the range of my Domain at this time.

However, there was no phantom of the Great Tree of Knowledge in this Domain, and even outside the Domain, a normal gaze could not perceive the Domain’s existence.

Because altering the visual field of those encompassed would count as influencing the candidates, I naturally chose this non-intrusive method.

Furthermore, my Domain was simply reorganized into the order of the Five Senses Enhancement, facilitating full-field perception.

I hadn’t fully familiarized myself with the integration of the Five Senses into my Domain order; I had only achieved it simply back then, but hadn’t had the time to refine it.

And now... the act of college entrance examination invigilation was a natural training opportunity.

A training session using all the candidates of an entire examination center as the training subjects, with sight being the primary sense and the other four senses as supplementary, to ”monitor” every move of every candidate.

This was a great test for my own self, and even more so for my mental energy consumption.

But I have to say, this was a very primitive yet effective training method.

However... I wonder if it was just an illusion, but the more I trained this way, the more I felt that this method of ”enhancement” was lacking something, because it was simply too tiring; there was a feeling of not being cost-effective.

When this feeling arose, either I lacked patience, or the path I was taking was inefficient...

But I leaned more towards the latter.

After all... while I wasn’t one of those people who liked taking shortcuts, enduring unnecessary hardship was certainly unnecessary.

While pondering this matter, I kept my attention on the entire examination center to prevent cheating.

However, I had already checked all the candidates in the center.

They hadn’t brought any cheating materials, which meant that even if they cheated, no one would conjure out any crib notes from thin air.

The only possible route would be to peek at others.

But this behavior would be seeking death.

With two teachers at the front and back of every examination room staring throughout the whole process, who would dare?

Moreover, the teachers at this examination center basically knew that the highest invigilator here was not a common student from a Transcendent Academy, but a Teaching Assistant!

They needed to be even more vigilant!

So, this saved me a lot of trouble and freed up a lot of energy to contemplate the Domain.

This was my first time contemplating the issue of Domain enhancement, which was the method to remove the ”Prototype” suffix from the Domain ”Prototype.”

Actually, if I wanted, I could directly ask Big Sis Bai.

Currently, Big Sis Bai only had Heart Sense.

Regarding Time Sense, after accompanying me in the Earth Vein Timeline Retrospection that time, Big Sis Bai seemed to have gained quite a few Revelations.

I believed that she should have some gains soon.

But the pity was that Time Sense couldn’t be taught; it could only be realized by oneself.

Building upon the foundation of Heart Sense, when it came to a certain power, understanding it was basically equivalent to knowing how to use it.

However, even though Big Sis Bai currently only had Heart Sense, the Mental Realm Domain under Big Sis Bai’s Body Cultivation power did not have the ”Prototype” suffix.

Therefore, neither Time Sense nor the Space Sense that I hadn’t mastered yet were necessary requirements for a Body Cultivation Domain to shed the ”Prototype.”

Then what else could it be?

Perhaps I could make a bold assumption and then use the method of exclusion, such as energy.

When I proposed the first assumption, I did not immediately proceed with more assumptions, because I realized... the term energy... it really might be a possibility!

It should be noted that even a Fire Rain Spellbook undergoing a Domain Sequence Derivation could see its energy consumption increase from a single point to a thousand points.

What about the consumption of my Mental Realm Domain?

What was the basic source of Transcendent Energy that sustained its existence?

It was... the Spatial Rift within the Grand Spellbooks!

More precisely, it was the ”endless energy” source that maintained the ”permanence” of the Grand Spellbooks’ effects!

But clearly, the Spatial Rift inside the Grand Spellbooks could not be used as a free, endless energy source to provide me with endless energy consumption.

Because it served the Grand Spellbooks themselves, not me.

Those Spatial Rifts themselves were the internal circulation within the Grand Spellbooks, which guaranteed the permanence of the Grand Spellbooks’ effects.

Therefore... if my Mental Realm Domain had combined not with two Grand Spellbooks but with a spell like Fireball Spellbook... I’m afraid I wouldn’t even have been able to deploy the Domain then, because there would be no energy to support its deployment.

So, it could be said that... energy might really be the one area that the Domain lacked...

In other words, my own Magic Power.

And speaking of Magic Power, after I completed the Self-awakening of Body Cultivation, I experimented with the body during the Witchification process with Academy Head Mei, which ultimately granted me the Witch race’s bodily talent of ”Self-generating Magic Power.”

This talent was a ”bodily instinct” that naturally accelerated a witch’s Magic Power recovery, similar to a passive talent for accelerating Magic Power recovery in a game.

It was also a way for one to condense their own Magic Power Source and self-improve.

When I researched the body’s Self-generating Magic Power with the Academy Head back then, I had gained some understanding of the construction technique of the Magic Power Source.

After all, I had to possess this bodily talent back then; otherwise, having cut the Earth Vein Chains, I wouldn’t be able to sustain the Magic Power Source myself.

I tried to use my fifteen thousand-plus Magic Power Sources to fill the ”energy deficit” of the Domain.

When I realized that my own Domain lacked energy support, looking at the Domain again gave me a feeling similar to looking at a giant tree that was about to wither.

I could deploy it entirely because it was structured upon the permanent framework of the two Grand Spellbooks’ effects, and not because I could provide the energy for it myself.

But I wonder if it was an illusion, but when I attempted to ”combine” the Magic Power Source with the Domain, I felt two rather unpleasant ”sensations.”

One sensation was that my current fifteen thousand Magic Power Sources were merely a drop in the bucket, meaning they were completely insufficient, unable to achieve the Domain’s energy self-circulation.

The other sensation was as if... my own Domain was repelling the Magic Power Source, as if the Magic Power Source was ”external matter.”

I actually had this feeling with the Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell as well.

The Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell was not completely mastered by me, so the development of the Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell’s characteristics within the ”Power of Knowledge” order of my Domain was extremely difficult.

It was only during that one attempt to resonate the Dream State that I deduced a brand-new piece of knowledge, which made me realize that the Enlightenment characteristic of the Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell still existed, but it was extremely difficult to develop.

But the Great Tree of Knowledge was different.

It was completely controlled by me, becoming a part of my ability.

Even if others stole it, they could only take that one [Transcendent Knowledge] and not the Great Tree of Knowledge.

So, the Domain I currently possessed was essentially framed and fundamentally structured upon Heart Sense, but the energy source and characteristics originated from the Great Tree of Knowledge.

Otherwise, why would the order of ”Power of Knowledge” in the Domain be so compatible with the Great Tree of Knowledge?

Even in the past, I mistakenly thought the Power of Knowledge was the product of the combination of the two Grand Spellbooks.

So now... I have roughly figured it out.

My own Domain wanting to use my current Magic Power Source to replace the original energy source would probably have to overcome two hurdles.

The first hurdle was the quantity of the Magic Power Source.

Although I couldn’t be absolutely sure, I guessed that the Magic Power Source required for a complete Domain was far from enough with just one or two tens of thousands!

The second hurdle was the issue of Magic Power Source ownership.

It was just like a spellbook; it had never been completely controlled by me and become my own thing.

Then, it was ultimately external matter.

The fact that the Magic Power Source could be traded was enough to prove that the Magic Power Source was external matter to some extent, and it didn’t quite fit with the Domain, which was a power mastered by oneself...

Then this led to another question.

Did the witch’s own Magic Power Source divide into two parts: one that was completely transformed into their own power, and another part that was an independent Magic Power Source that could be traded freely?

But... was there any point to this?

Thinking this, I shook my head, and my gaze became clear, because I suddenly realized that I was starting to overthink things.

It was too much of a deviation to think about whether there was any point to this when I hadn’t even achieved it yet!

Since I wanted to perfect the Domain, I needed a Magic Power Source that was completely dominated by me.

Whether it had any point or not, doing the thing itself was very meaningful.

Because... I was also very curious whether a non-tradable Magic Power Source would produce different effects, just like a non-tradable spellbook.

After all, I also disliked external things, just like the first time I encountered a spellbook.

Things that didn’t belong to me weren’t worth including in my life plan.

They were more defined by me as: ”tools” to provide me with assistance.

Rather than abilities that I completely dominated.

After figuring out these matters, I decided to temporarily set this aside.

After the college entrance examination ended, I would go look for some knowledge regarding the technique for condensing the Magic Power Source to study.

I wanted to see if I could find a way to incorporate the Magic Power Source as my own.

Currently, my Great Tree of Knowledge did not have much knowledge in this area.

Even though my Great Seed of Knowledge had basically been popularized to many Transcendent Mentors, they didn’t share all knowledge in it.

Knowledge that was too shallow and close to common sense wouldn’t be shared, nor would knowledge that was too private and inconvenient to disclose.

And what I lacked the most was this kind of knowledge that was close to common sense.

At this moment, I was wandering around the examination center.

I must say, this invigilation was truly boring.

I couldn’t do anything because of the constraint of the Witch’s Contract.

During this period, I needed to ensure the efficiency of the invigilation.

During this time, if it didn’t interfere with the invigilation, I could try to do some things I liked, but anything more excessive would be constrained by the contract.

No wonder everyone said this invigilation was a tedious job.

But for me, I could completely use Time Sense to speed up this boring process, but I didn’t want to waste this time for nothing.

Actually... I was also a bit curious about the operational mechanism of the Destiny ritual that covered the entire Main World’s college entrance examination Destiny.

However, I could only observe and dared not damage it.

After all, the Destiny technique involved in this was too complex.

This was probably the work of the Destiny Alchemist...

I could feel that a large amount of Destiny was gathered at my examination center.

This was the unclaimed Destiny belonging to the Main World.

Through the Destiny Gazing Technique, I could observe more data.

My examination center was also a node in this ritual that spanned the entire world.

And this ritual was actually conducted according to time zones.

“So much Destiny... wouldn’t those Players be tempted if they saw it?”

I looked up at the Destiny gathered above the examination center, feeling a bit sentimental and a bit expectant.

I wondered if any Players would be so reckless as to come to harvest Destiny or cause trouble here.

This made me think of that Player avatar.

I had already used the Reincarnation Spell to change her skin, so no Player could recognize her original self.

Because of the ongoing language learning, she was currently only maintaining minimal communication with the people displayed as friends on the account.

In the short term, she couldn’t infiltrate the Player community and obtain more intelligence for me.

But one thing was certain: I, the ”Calamity Witch,” had appeared here.

This intelligence had spread.

I guessed it might have been spread by the Player I possessed.

But I hadn’t heard whether they chose to defend themselves and stay away from this area, or gather in this area to give me a ”surprise.”

If I could choose, I would expect the Players to choose the latter.

After all, the Domain I deployed didn’t just cover one examination room.

Back then in the Expansion Realm, covering the entire Ninglan New City was actually not a problem.

However, up until now, I hadn’t detected a single Player appearing in my Domain, which made me feel quite disappointed.

Otherwise, I would let those Players know what it meant to die without anyone knowing and have their character used by me.

...

Time passed quickly.

As the bell for the first subject, General Language, rang, the first student to hand in their paper early also appeared.

He cheered as he walked out of the examination room, facing the enthusiasm of the reporters outside, loudly shouting ”Strengthen ××!”, his tone carrying half embarrassment, half eagerness, one part fun, and eight parts fervent passion.

Perhaps this was the age when most ordinary people in the Main World had the most intelligence, passion, and enthusiasm...

But... the college entrance examination was not over.

For students whose ambition was not the Transcendent Academies, their college entrance examination was practically finished.

This was because the subsequent exam content and scores had little to do with general technical colleges.

A screw that maintained the operation of the Main World only needed basic communication skills to suffice.

Precisely because of this, the college entrance examination subjects were so abnormal.

However, this situation was probably not going to last much longer.

Perhaps when the world order was reset, education was re-planned, and the college entrance examination was reformed.

Perhaps ordinary people would only be able to look forward to a brand new world then.

The pity was that... I would not have the chance to enjoy such a world, but... I might experience it as a participant and promoter.

Thinking this way gave me a sense of satisfaction.

The following days of the college entrance examination also proceeded smoothly, with no accidents.

The Players I was anticipating did not descend.

I originally thought they might not know that the college entrance examination was closely related to Destiny and would quickly react by the second day of the exam, but now it seemed...

I had completely overthought it.

Not only were there no problems here, but the same was true for the other examination centers.

Moreover, the impact of the Player’s presence in the Main World seemed to be gradually weakening.

All signs seemed to indicate that they were slowly withdrawing from the Main World.

Could it be that they really didn’t know anything beforehand, and they started retreating just because of the intelligence I disclosed to that woman?

It felt quite unlikely.

There must be some deeper reason.

They wouldn’t really be planning a major surprise for me, would they...

After quietly putting this suspicion aside, I felt the constraint of the Witch’s Contract for this invigilation disappear, and I knew I should leave.

But just as I was about to leave, a figure hurriedly ran into my line of sight.

“Don’t you have anything to say to me!”

“Hmm... no. Live your own life well. I will come to find you again on the day the scores are released.”

I glanced indifferently at Yang Yunhan, and then my figure vanished in place, leaving no trace behind.
