Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 449: Preliminary Completion of the Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell

“Ugh…”

After leaving Teacher Ji Niang, my expression kept changing.

Although I had indeed been researching the Earth Vein recently, I never thought the Earth Vein was so terrifying.

This was even with me having severed the Earth Vein Chains, which could only partially obstruct the Earth Vein’s recording.

For the native people of this world, there were absolutely no secrets before the Earth Vein.

Although I knew that Teacher Ji Niang’s words contained an element of trying to scare me, I felt it was necessary to master some way to clear the Earth Vein Information in the future.

Of course, what Teacher Ji Niang didn’t know was that her ”unintentional” reminder mostly increased my anticipation for the information the Earth Vein could carry.

However… I should also be thankful that I didn’t do anything too excessive with Big Sis Bai there.

Now, after this interruption, Big Sis Bai had probably already returned, most likely to her office.

It was a shame that Teacher Ji Niang summoned me too hastily.

I hadn’t had a chance to give Big Sis Bai the Mithril figurine I intended to.

However, since Big Sis Bai was already in the Witch Academy, I was no longer in such a rush.

After all, the most important stone in my heart had now settled, so there was naturally no external interference that could disturb my mind.

Subsequently, I took out my phone and sent a message to Big Sis Bai.

I was planning to dedicate myself to one thing for a period of time, which would most likely be finished before the Teaching Assistant Assessment Test.

Teacher Ji Niang calling me over this time was also partly about the Teaching Assistant Test.

The first round of the Teaching Assistant Test was to screen whether the recommended students were qualified.

This involved not only personal contribution but also personal reputation.

After all, if a person had a record of bad behavior, the academy certainly wouldn’t allow them to pass the initial screening.

Regarding this screening, Teacher Ji Niang told me to be at ease.

Barring any surprises, I was sure to pass.

After all, Ji Niang was well aware that this process had the Academy Head’s endorsement; how could I be blocked here?

The subsequent written test was to assess one’s general knowledge and academic level.

After all, a Teaching Assistant couldn’t have an academic level lower than that of a general student, right?

That would be preposterous.

As for the final interview, it was less of an interview and more of a simulated test of one’s teaching ability.

After all, if you couldn’t teach others what you knew, that was also a major problem.

These three rounds of tests would filter out a considerable number of people.

After that was the teacher selection.

Teachers would generally conduct a final selective test based on the students who chose them, ultimately selecting one to be their Teaching Assistant or choosing no one at all.

At this point, this round of Teaching Assistant tests was tentatively considered complete.

The reason it was only tentative was naturally because if one performed poorly during their tenure as a Teaching Assistant afterward, they could be dismissed by their supervising teacher at any time.

Therefore, the Teaching Assistant path was not a route where one could relax and rest easy after gaining the position.

It was precisely this uncertainty that led a considerable portion of qualified students in the Witch Academy not to consider becoming a Teaching Assistant.

However, the privileges and high-risk nature of the Teaching Assistant role still attracted some students who followed one after another.

After all, if one didn’t make any major mistakes and maintained a good relationship with their teacher, generally, no one would be driven away.

Although Big Sis Bai’s phone had been replaced with a new one, she still retained her contact information from her student days.

This was a special benefit for students of the Main World academy in the past, so Big Sis Bai chose to keep it, only with her status changing from student to teacher.

Not long after I sent the message, Big Sis Bai replied.

Looking at the message she sent, the corners of my mouth involuntarily curved into a smile, and then I closed my phone, thoroughly satisfied.

The subsequent time was entirely devoted to the research of the Earth Energy Conversion Ritual.

Although the loss of information data during the process of converting Earth Vein Energy to Earth Energy was much better than before, it still required continuous updates.

The good news was that I had already completed the plan for iteration; all that was left was to spend time methodically grinding away at it.

And this single-minded focus lasted for many days.

Time passed very quickly.

Although all of this had not yet met my expectations, I was already beginning to attempt to apply it to the Tree of Knowledge.

After all, even if everything wasn’t complete, as long as it was practical, I naturally had to try it out.

Only by doing so could I understand the problems I was facing.

Moreover, I discovered during testing that as long as the information loss during the Earth Energy conversion process was controlled to within one-third, the Earth Vein Information could be roughly interpreted.

After interpretation, I still faced a problem: the information data was ”too much” and ”too messy.”

This required me to organize and filter the information.

However, by using the subconscious cognition of the Knowledge Avatar, I managed to solve the problem of filtering useful information, and I could even achieve the ability to partially complete missing information.

While this seemed very impressive, to put it plainly, this was still utilizing my own brain for the most primitive ”sorting.”

The application of the subconscious simply prevented the ”annoyance” emotion, generated by the subjective consciousness, during the repetitive process.

Therefore, this processing ability and efficiency were intrinsically linked to and placed extremely high demands on my own Mental Power, comprehension ability, reaction speed, and so on.

Fortunately, I also had the synergy of the Flexible Learning and Application Spell and the Tree of Knowledge, which allowed my reaction speed and association ability to achieve a qualitative leap.

However, my Mental Power and comprehension ability could only rely on my own meditation and training.

The currently derived ”Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell”, relying on the Tree of Knowledge Spell framework, was tentatively complete.

Its success was easier than I had anticipated.

But I still did not relax my efforts to iterate and update this derivative ability.

Currently, there are several aspects to improving the Appraisal Spell’s ability:

Reduce Information Loss: Continuously update and improve the information loss rate during the conversion of Earth Vein Energy to Earth Energy.

In my understanding, this loss rate can theoretically approach, but not equal, zero.

This is inevitable, as there is always loss with operation.

Increase Knowledge Reserve: Increase the knowledge reserve within the Tree of Knowledge.

A vast reserve allows for a more complete interpretation of the Earth Vein information.

However, this is a long-term project that cannot be achieved overnight, and further improvements in this area are foreseeable to become marginal.

Furthermore, there is a current problem: the storage limit of the Tree of Knowledge.

Its upper limit is no longer keeping up with my learning speed.

Unless I slow down my learning, the Tree of Knowledge reaching its upper limit is a foreseeable future.

Optimize Interpreted Information: This has two directions of development.

One is extreme interpretation (deep-level understanding), and the other is summary and generalization (concise and clear).

These clearly correspond to two different scenarios: one is in-depth research on a certain subject, and the other is to recognize the existence of the appraised object and all related information in the fastest, most concise way possible.

Bypass Textual Description: Enable the information from the Appraisal Spell to skip the textual description and go directly to the comprehension level, bypassing the information distortion that occurs during the language conversion process.

I encountered this concept when Teacher Ji Niang guided me to understand my own Spirit Vision.

Communicating without language, directly reaching the comprehension layer, is the most effective.

Currently, this last concept is still in the theoretical stage, but it is not without clues.

Don’t forget that the Academy Head gave me a Telepathic Communication Spell to solve my communication problem with the Small World.

I want to borrow the principle of this spell to realize the fourth concept of the Appraisal Spell.

The reason I haven’t acted yet is that I haven’t yet reached a level where I need this method.

After all, the information loss rate during my Earth Energy conversion process is not yet near zero, so there is no need to rush these things.

After all, time cost is a cost.

The main reason is that the existing spell is a communication between consciousness and ritual, and I don’t fully understand the spell, so I cannot achieve barrier-free information communication between my consciousness and the Earth Vein information.

However, it is foreseeable that if I truly reach this step, I would have essentially achieved a ”Pseudo-Omniscience” ability within a world!

Everything recorded by the Earth Vein would be clear to me.

Whether it is history sealed in the dust of the past, or the current surrounding information, or even the future scenes deduced from the flow of the Earth Vein… could this predicted scene be the entire world’s pre-set Script?

I have no way of knowing this, but such a thought is enough to intensify my desire for this power.

Even though I am very clear that this method cannot bring about any substantial increase in my attack power, this kind of purely greater power was never what I pursued from the start. Compared to those things, I still prefer… the Transcendent and the exploration of the Transcendent itself.

This perspective was built on my initial fantasies about the Transcendent, and my curiosity is the cornerstone that drove all of this initially.

At this moment, I completed the phase-based construction of the Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell, and my continuously powered-on phone emitted an alert.

My phone was kept on so I could receive messages promptly, otherwise I might miss the information regarding the Teaching Assistant assessment.

The Teaching Assistant test, according to Teacher Ji Niang, would be completed within a month, which is around the end of the semester, perfectly connecting with the next semester.

With this alert popping up, I guessed that the relevant written test would begin around this time.

I checked the message.

Just as I thought, the written test time was confirmed.

The information investigation passed successfully in the previous period, just as Teacher Ji Niang said, without any hindrance.

As for the written test, I wasn’t too concerned about it.

I picked up my phone and subconsciously performed an appraisal on it. Immediately, a data panel appeared before me.

The appraised information then continually surfaced.

Currently, using the Appraisal Spell works best with physical contact with the appraised object.

After all, the information converted from Earth Energy is not yet complete; it’s just good enough for the current stage.

However… the display panel UI for the information presented after appraisal could be further optimized.

But these are just minor additions.

The important thing is the data it presents.

”『Name: Magic Power-Driven Multi-function Communicator (Phone)

Looking at the information appraised from the phone, if I wanted to, I could display this information in even more detail, such as the phone’s dimensions, even the design blueprints, the technology used, etc.

Everything truthfully recorded in the Earth Vein that could be interpreted by my Tree of Knowledge could be presented for me to understand.

The data presented after this appraisal truly made me feel insatiable.

Mastering this ability brings about a strange side effect.

That is, when I see a small pebble on the side of the road, I want to see where it came from.

It feels like playing ”Reality Online.”

Indeed, the world presents itself to me in the way I choose to understand it.

If this ability were given to an ordinary person, that person would surely suspect they were living in a game world and doubt themselves, wouldn’t they?

Just like those Secret Diggers before, they thought they were playing a game, but they were actually in the real world.

The world is just that magical.

The way you open it determines what kind of existence it is.

The Transcendent world is the same.

The way you choose to understand it determines the way it rewards you.

As for absolute truth… even if it truly exists, it might be unknowable to us at this stage.

I waved my hand, erasing the appraised information.

The existence of this data was exactly like the Illusory Clone, so only I could see the appraised data.

Now, I would put the Appraisal Spell on hold for the time being and start preparing for the upcoming written test.

Although I was confident my foundation was enough to pass this written test, just to be safe, I chose to study a bit more.

Not long after I made this decision, my phone once again received a call notification.

“Mhm… Big Sis Bai?”

I picked up the phone, a little surprised that Big Sis Bai would contact me at this moment.

“Hello What’s up, Big Sis Bai, calling me now.”

Connecting the call, I immediately switched to a more playful tone and asked.

“Mhm, it’s about the Teaching Assistant written test notification.”

Big Sis Bai’s characteristic tone of concern came through from the other end.

“That? Of course, I saw it. Why are you more concerned about this than I am, Big Sis Bai?”

I asked with a smile.

“Is it because you’re afraid if I don’t become a Teaching Assistant, you won’t be able to hmm?”

“No. I’m mainly afraid you’ll forget. How are things? You’ve been busy recently. Have you made any progress?”

Bai Yu naturally didn’t admit it, just slightly changed the subject.

“I’ve made huge progress. It’s practically a leap forward. Do you have time now, Big Sis Bai.”

I said simply.

“Mhm, I’m currently familiarizing myself with the teaching material, but if you ask if I have time, then yes, I always do.”

“Then… are you interested in tutoring me on the study materials for the upcoming written test?”

“Of course.”

Bai Yu agreed very readily, without questioning why I was only starting to review now.
