Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 444: Big Sis Bai, I’m Not Going to Be a Student Anymore!

Emerging from the Academy Head’s Office, I was in a state of both excitement and discomfort.

The Academy Head calling me in this time was not to press-gang me into labor or anything like Teacher Dana had anticipated.

She focused on explaining matters related to the new teachers.

It was clearly the Academy Head’s way of explicitly telling me that Big Sis Bai was likely returning.

In short, Big Sis Bai was highly likely to be among this batch of new teachers, otherwise there would be no reason to specifically call me over.

The prospect of seeing Big Sis Bai again naturally made me incredibly excited, so much so that my mind was still in a slightly manic state.

However, the subsequent sentence that the academy does not encourage ”teacher-student relationships” completely confused me…

The way the Academy Head deliberately explained the matter was that the term ”does not encourage” was very euphemistic.

The main reason was objective factors.

A Transcendent Witch and a Reserve Witch, or even a Prospective Witch, are essentially two different species, even though the witch’s appearance is very similar to a human’s.

It’s a gap in the level of life.

Another reason is the cause of Witchification.

After advancing to a Transcendent Witch, Witchification tends to complete itself in a short period.

The essence of Witchification is actually racial assimilation.

Compared to other races converting people to their race, which leads to an imbalance between body and thought, witches do not have this concern.

Witches already have a complete, systematic set of ”assimilation” methods, which is the process of subtle ”Witchification” that begins the moment one comes into contact with Magic Power.

The sense of identity among witches is extremely solid, but they appear very indifferent towards non-kindred existences.

Unless the other party is a Transcendent on the same level as a witch, they will hardly have the right to an equal conversation.

So, although the Witch Academy teaches a group of people to become witches, in the eyes of the witches, they essentially do not regard the students as their own kind, nor as witch younglings or beings that will soon become their kind.

After all, a naturally born witch youngling’s life essence is Transcendent from the moment of birth, and this is the difference.

According to investigations, the relationship between most witches and students in the Witch Academy is actually very similar to the care a owner has for a pet.

It is a form of top-down charity, but this fact is not actively disclosed to the students.

Therefore, without being informed of the truth, many students have no idea of the actual situation.

They simply believe they are more favored by the teacher.

What they don’t know is that it might simply be that their appearance aligns with the witches’ preference.

After all, Witchification is also called the preference Modifier in witch cognition.

The concept of Witchification can assimilate various races into a form that fundamentally conforms to one’s own preference.

The appearance of a student after Witchification also conforms to the aesthetic of most witches.

Thus, the relationship between teachers and students is extremely complex.

Therefore, the academy’s policy of not encouraging teacher-student relationships, which seemingly blocks students’ path to curry favor with teachers, is actually a disguised way of protecting the students.

This is because a Transcendent Witch is inevitably a ”scumbag girl” who develops a unilateral affection for a student but might cease to like them for various reasons.

But from a witch’s perspective, they might never realize this, just as humans, in most cases, cannot spend the rest of their lives with a pet, and the lifespan theory is also a major reason.

Any student who has not achieved Transcendent Witch status runs the risk of never advancing.

Moreover, most witches are also attracted to physical appearance.

A human’s lifespan is only a trivial part of a witch’s lifespan, and then they will rapidly age and die.

The brilliance of a human is like a gorgeous flower, only during the period of full bloom will they receive a witch’s favor.

Perhaps initially, they are very interested, but after watching the other party age, even if they use Elixirs to keep the person eternally youthful, after experiencing separation and loss, most witches choose not to engage in such thankless behavior.

After all, some witches gain perspective during this process, while others may become depressed for a long time.

So, the Academy Head calling me over was, on one hand, to give me a crash course in this area of knowledge, and on the other hand, to prepare me psychologically, because the Academy Head felt that after this period of life as a witch, Bai Yu might become somewhat different from the person I knew before.

At this, my heart sank.

I was truly afraid of the situation the Academy Head described…

I even cast the Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell on Big Sis Bai.

Could it be that Big Sis Bai has suddenly seen through all illusions or something?

Wouldn’t I be crying without tears?

However, the Academy Head did somewhat soothe my emotions and also talked to me about other matters, such as my current situation.

My situation is fundamentally different from that of other students in the academy.

First, I severed the Earth Vein Chains.

Don’t underestimate the importance of this act.

The meaning represented by this action is also extremely profound.

If a Transcendent Witch looks at people in the Main World as pitiful pets kept in cages, then I am a bird that has broken free from the cage.

Although breaking free from the cage means facing the Curse of Misfortune (social beatings) that one would not experience in the cage, this has been temporarily suppressed by the collar the Academy Head gave me.

Transcendent Witches teach other students as if separated by a fence, showing them how to leave the cage.

But teaching me lacks this barrier.

The witches are even willing to take me to witness more of the outside world’s wonders and use more abundant methods to teach me more things.

One can see from the attitudes of the witches that the difference in treatment between how witches treat me and how they treat other students is really significant.

Furthermore, my autonomous acquisition of the witch’s inherent talent, Self-generating Magic Power, achieved through consciously awakened Body Cultivation and the Academy Head’s Metamorphic Incubation Spell and other abilities and theoretical knowledge, caused the witches’ sense of identity with me to surpass the emotional framework of ”owner and pet.”

They are more willing to treat me as a ”Lesser Witch”.

From the Academy Head, I learned about the concept of the ”Lesser Witch”.

This concept does not refer to any stage during a regular person’s advancement to a Transcendent Witch.

Instead, it refers to witches who have either reached Transcendent Witch status or were originally Transcendent Witches but fell from the Transcendent level for various reasons.

These witches are called Lesser Witches.

They retain the cognition of a Transcendent Witch and everything else, but their life essence has fallen, losing the ”Transcendent” prefix.

However, their inherent talent for Self-generating Magic Power, their mastered Spellbooks, Magic Power Source, knowledge, etc., all remain.

This group is the Lesser Witches.

In fact, the number of Lesser Witches is quite substantial.

Many Lesser Witches have suffered fundamental damage to their life essence and may never advance to Transcendent status again, and their lifespans are also greatly reduced.

Yet, they are still acknowledged by the witches.

As for why there is such a large number of Lesser Witches, one must mention the inherent nature of witches: they love to watch spectacles, seek excitement, and court death.

With Transcendent Witches having this nature, would the Lesser Witch group ever be small enough?

Those radical Transcendent Witches venture out into the Void courting death, with the mentality of ”It’s fine, we’ll just be sisters in the Lesser Witch Club.”

But one thing must be understood: only those who survive can return as a Lesser Witch.

Most Transcendent Witches who recklessly push the boundaries of death either succeed or die on the spot.

Only a tiny fraction have the possibility of returning with damaged life essence through the rescue of other witches.

This situation is extremely rare.

This is enough to prove how terrifying the self-destructive nature of witches truly is.

Therefore, in the Academy Head’s view, my special case became a Lesser Witch ”advanced” through a unique method.

Although not a formal path to becoming a Lesser Witch, at least my existence was accepted by the witches in this capacity.

The Academy Head even joked that if I walked into the Lesser Witch Mutual Aid Association, no witch would doubt my authenticity.

This is why I am more favored and taken care of by the witches compared to other students.

However, there is also a limit to this.

After all, I am indeed not a Transcendent Witch yet, and I ultimately cannot engage in equal conversation with them, so I don’t have the privilege of being too willful.

In truth, the Academy Head was merely clarifying the reasons why I received special attention in the academy, and also making me more clearly understand my own position.

The Academy Head naturally knew about my relationship with Bai Yu, but she would not interfere excessively.

After all, she didn’t understand Bai Yu’s feelings, nor was she sure if Bai Yu would still be interested in the former Little Han.

So, she could only advise and not compel.

As one of the Witch Academy Heads, her primary concern was the Transcendent Witches.

Therefore, the Academy Head could only offer me a small piece of advice.

For example, when I see Big Sis Bai, I shouldn’t rush up to her or do anything outrageous.

It would be best to first test whether the relationship between Bai Yu and me can still continue as before.

If it cannot, and I insist on harassing her, even if I get punished, she, as the Academy Head, would uphold the law impartially and would not show me any favoritism.

Bai Yu’s attitude is the major prerequisite for everything.

If I cannot compel her, the Academy Head suggested that advancing to a Transcendent Witch sooner is more practical than being persistently clingy.

At least after advancing to a Transcendent Witch, I would have the qualification and opportunity to pursue her again.

After all, the Witch Academy does not prohibit teacher-teacher romance; this is the freedom among witches.

And this was my only opportunity.

If, after all the previous trials, Bai Yu still missed me or something, the only thing blocking Big Sis Bai and me would be my status as a ”student.”

So, the Academy Head presented me with a choice: to become a ”Teaching Assistant”.

Generally, Teaching Assistants are filled by new teachers who have just arrived at the academy.

However, Transcendent Witches teaching students basically have no need to rely on Teaching Assistants to train and improve their teaching ability.

Therefore, new teachers rarely choose the transitional stage of being a Teaching Assistant and instead opt for independent instruction.

However, the Teaching Assistant position is still essential.

Thus, the Witch Academy created the precedent of accepting students as Teaching Assistants, which continues to this day.

After all, Transcendent Academy teachers usually have their own projects to manage, and many trivial tasks require the assistance of a Teaching Assistant.

Some Teaching Assistants even need to substitute for the teacher in giving lessons, as not all witches possess the Illusory Clone spell, and many have their own projects or research to pursue.

Furthermore, students who have Teaching Assistant experience at the Witch Academy have a significant advantage if they wish to return as a teacher after graduation.

However, it is very difficult for a student to become a Teaching Assistant.

It’s not something you can do just because you want to.

After all, a Teaching Assistant is considered half a teacher, and in most cases, they have broken away from the scope of student status and are considered to have initially mastered power within the Witch Academy.

But this power also relies on the Transcendent Witch they follow.

If the witch they follow feels the Teaching Assistant has overstepped their bounds, they can revoke the Teaching Assistant status at any time.

This power only applies to cases where a student becomes a Teaching Assistant.

If a Transcendent Witch becomes a Teaching Assistant, they would simply be replaced by another witch or directly become an independent teacher; there’s no issue.

If you ask for the reason, it’s naturally because she is a Transcendent Witch.

Her status is already established, and it’s impossible for her to be demoted to a student.

At most, she would voluntarily leave the Main World if she was unsuitable for teaching.

Therefore… if I wanted to be with Big Sis Bai again, becoming a Teaching Assistant and acquiring this status was absolutely necessary.

And after becoming a Teaching Assistant, I would no longer be required to participate in necessary student tests like the Monthly Exam or Final Exam.

Of course, the Academy Head specifically said these words for me to hear.

After all, since the establishment of the Witch Academy, there has never been a prodigy with the ability and qualification to become a Teaching Assistant without even completing the three-year curriculum.

It could even be said that this rule of not needing to participate in the Monthly Exam or Final Exam hasn’t been around for long.

I could naturally see the Academy Head’s encouragement and verbal hints for this course of action.

Not having to participate in the Monthly Exam or Final Exam meant I could be removed completely from participating in the Script, making everyone happy and removing me as an unstable factor.

To this end, the Academy Head even listed the academy subsidies one receives after becoming a Teaching Assistant, essentially looking like she wanted me to quickly become a Teaching Assistant and stop causing trouble for the newcomers.

I felt quite helpless about this.

I guess the Academy Head was also hoping someone would pass the Teaching Assistant qualification test so desperately for the first time, right?

I felt that if the Academy Head pushed the process a little more behind the scenes, my path to qualification might be even smoother.

It could be said that the Academy Head’s suggestion was a complete win-win.

The academy would be happy, reducing an unstable factor; and I would be happy, finally having the qualification to formally be with Big Sis Bai!

It could be said that my gains from this trip were absolutely enormous.

I learned a lot of things, and I received good news.

The thought of Big Sis Bai returning lingered in my mind for a long time.

So much so that I didn’t want to do anything now, only wanting to wait for Big Sis Bai’s arrival.

However, there was also a slight fear deep down: a worry about how much of an impact Witchification had on Big Sis Bai.

But I also understood clearly that even if there was a sliver of possibility that Big Sis Bai would no longer have the same feelings for me, I would not stubbornly cling to her.

As the Academy Head said, I would double my efforts to advance to a Transcendent Witch soon.

I would not cling to her or even question Big Sis Bai about why, because it would be meaningless.

Inferior admiration only questions the other party about whether they love me.

True affection will only silently work hard to reach an equal level and communicate with the other party on equal terms.

This is a mutual choice between both parties.

The worst result is a peaceful separation after gaining perspective.

It would not be throwing one’s feelings at the other party as a multiple-choice question and forcing them to choose.

I only feel that kind of feeling is cheap and that the person being forced to choose does not deserve it.

Big Sis Bai is the most important person—oh no… the most important witch—in this world to me.

Therefore, I will take seriously anything related to her.

With this thought, I quickly returned to my dorm.

I had realized my emotional control had faltered, but when it came to Big Sis Bai, I was willing to let emotion take over my cognition to a limited extent.

Admiration without losing rationality—that is my attitude.

So, for now, I should quickly find something to do to pass the time…
