Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 322: The Targeted Outsiders

“Is that so…”

Hearing my direct inquiry, Ninglan Qiuyue understood that saying anything more would be useless.

So, in the next moment, her tone became extremely sincere.

“Teacher Little Han, I want to beg you to save Ninglan New City. I don’t want Ninglan New City to be destroyed at my father’s hands…”

“Sigh… First of all, how are you so sure I can save Ninglan New City? You have to understand that I am also just an ordinary outsider. Secondly, how do you know your father will destroy the entire city? Perhaps he is saving it in his own way,” I asked.

After all, her behavior was too irrational.

Even if she wanted to ask for help, what did it have to do with me, an irrelevant person?

Even if she wanted to use the power of the outsiders, guiding the targeted groups of outsiders to resist together would be much more valuable than just me.

And shouldn’t the most anxious one right now be that Ninglan Qiuyu?

As the City Lord’s eldest son, and seemingly the only son, the next City Lord candidate.

But from my understanding of him, he didn’t seem to like us outsiders much either.

But he also disliked those Nightmare Demons even more.

After all, they had brought a greater disaster to Ninglan New City.

His father chose the Nightmare Demons, so he should be very anxious.

“No… it’s different. I know you also possess great power. Every outsider is a force I’m trying to win over. And you don’t understand what that City Lord has done.”

At this moment, Ninglan Qiuyue didn’t even mention the title of father anymore, but called him the City Lord.

“He used the power of the Nightmare Demon to transform those city guards, saying it was to deal with the Nightmares and outsiders. But those city guards who entered the dream have completely become his puppets. This is handing over the power of Ninglan New City to others.”

“Let me interrupt,” I had to say at this moment.

“You keep emphasizing that your father’s actions are harming the interests of Ninglan New City. So what do you plan to do? Overthrow your father’s rule, and you… take his place?”

“I…”

Ninglan Qiuyue was interrupted by me, and her pupils shrank, especially when she heard the words ”take his place.”

“No way, no way, you’re not thinking of rebelling against your father’s lingering authority on a whim, are you? Do you think this is still a family squabble between you and your father? You dare to lead us outsiders to fight your dad to the death?”

My expression and tone were extremely serious at this moment.

After all, if she didn’t even have a final goal and was just thinking about what to do, what was this if not child’s play?

“This is not a whim!”

Ninglan Qiuyue argued.

“Oh? So you have an idea? But I remember… every Ninglan City Lord in history has been male. I don’t know if you have sexism here, but the inertia of history will make your becoming the City Lord a huge controversy.”

My words seemed to have stung her at this moment, but I didn’t care.

If she couldn’t even withstand verbal stimulation at this time, then how could she carry this banner when facing even more terrifying pressure later?

“Boring,” I looked at the silent Ninglan Qiuyue and commented uninterestedly, then stopped wasting time with her and prepared to leave.

“Wait, don’t go yet. Where are you going?”

“Hearing what you said, I’m naturally going up to see the new scenery of Ninglan New City,” I said with a smile.

“No, please don’t. You are on the newly issued wanted list for outsiders in Ninglan New City. If you go up, you will be besieged immediately!”

“Hmm? Wait.”

I stopped in my tracks, somewhat incredulous, then turned to look at Ninglan Qiuyue and confirmed again, “I’m also on the wanted list? Are you sure? Have I done anything harmful to Ninglan New City?”

“I don’t know, but this wanted list is definitely problematic. According to what I learned from Miss Tan Han, this wanted list covers almost all the powerful experts from your transcendent academies.”

“Oh”

I nodded.

Hearing what Ninglan Qiuyue said, I seemed to understand.

There was a traitor among us outsiders.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to provide such a targeted list to weaken the strength of the outsiders.

They wanted to eliminate the tough opponents first.

But it remained to be seen if they had the ability.

“I have one more question now. What exactly are those city guards relying on to expel or arrest us outsiders? I’m really curious about this.”

“This… I’m not sure about the principle, but the City Lord has mastered many methods. I heard that they can completely annihilate the soul-substance, causing the outsiders to die completely.”

“Annihilate the soul-substance?!”

Hearing this, I was so shocked that I cried out.

How could such a method be widely used to deal with us outsiders?

To annihilate the soul-substance meant a true death!

“Yes, those city guards who have entered the dream are not afraid of death. Even if they die, their consciousness can be re-condensed. Even if you outsiders are powerful, in a dream where consciousness does not perish, it’s a battle of attrition. They have the ability to wear down your lives, but you don’t have the ability to wear them down.”

“So it’s this kind of infinite revival tactic…”

I nodded.

Wasn’t this the shameless fourth-calamity tactic?

I had indeed been ignoring a problem before, which was what would happen if you died in the dream.

Now Ninglan Qiuyue had told me, which was to revive again.

After all, this was a dream, not reality.

But now that the other side had mastered true damage, this was indeed a bit troublesome.

But… now I was interested in this method of annihilating the soul-substance.

Although it was said to be annihilation, who knew what the real situation was?

If I could figure out this method, then the killing move of directly destroying the other party’s soul-substance would be too terrifying.

The method that the City Lord had mastered was probably created by those Nightmare Demons, an eighty percent chance.

After all, the Nightmare Demons could also absorb soul-substance.

Of course, this could also be prepared in advance as part of the plan of the Abyssal Demons behind them.

This was really a good calculation.

But would the Academy Head just let them slaughter us like this?

This method was completely one-sided, and our main world side had no way to fight back… Oh, it seemed that wasn’t necessarily the case.

The Nightmares were monsters that traveled between dreams and reality, so the deaths of those Nightmare Demons before… could they also be considered a complete death?

After all, the dead Nightmare Demons showed no signs of reviving.

Even my Spirit Vision could see that they had died very thoroughly, their body’s information turning into unrecognizable information and dissipating in the dream.

Both deaths of the Nightmare Demons had occurred in the dream, which made me very sure that they could definitely be killed!

Originally, this seemed to be a very fair life-and-death struggle, and it was even a little disadvantageous for the Nightmare Demons.

But now, the situation had completely reversed.

Those Nightmare Demons had found a way to hide themselves behind the scenes and let the people of Ninglan New City go to their deaths.

And what was more important was the human heart.

Those outsiders were used to being unrestrained.

Once true death was involved, the contrast with their previous fearlessness of death was likely to cause the vast majority of people to fall into a huge psychological gap, thus becoming more ”timid” and ”fearful.”

After all, they were used to not being afraid of death.

When they watched their companions really die with their own eyes, this impact was huge for the first-year students who had just entered the transcendent academy.

Many of them were not even prepared to die, and even naively thought that they wouldn’t die.

How could people die in the academy?

Don’t forget that there was still a large group of first-year students here with no combat power.

Once that method of annihilating the soul-substance was linked to the concept of death, then this method would become a symbol of deterrence, an existence that could not be resisted, because resistance meant death.

It could be said that they had subdued the enemy without fighting.

“Yes, so you must not go to the surface now. If you stay in the underground city, you can at least…”

“Didn’t you still want to resist your father? And you wanted to use my power? And the result is to advise me to hide here, hehe,” I chuckled and said mockingly.

“This… actually, I, I want to move the people I trust to the underground city. After all, even if it’s the City Lord, he would have to think twice before making a large-scale move on the underground city.”

“But the underground city is not your one-man show, is it?”

I said.

“I naturally know that, but… I heard that you applied for a project, the Nightmare Killer. You should have found a way to deal with the Nightmares, right? This point, compared to the City Lord who compromised with the Nightmare Demon, the underground city’s response forms a contrast with the City Lord. So the underground city is naturally at odds with the City Lord…”

“That is also too wishful thinking. As the City Lord’s daughter, would he just let you act freely like this? I remember you also have an older brother, right? What is he doing now?”

“My brother, he… is naturally the one who most strongly opposes my father’s actions. Now he has already had a falling out with my father. Although the official family forces in the Ninglan Township Fortress are also divided into two factions, there are not many who support my brother, and none who support him openly. Those Nightmare Demons have not only bewitched the City Lord, but also those forces. Such despicable means… how shameful!”

“So the core of all your efforts is your brother?”

“More or less. If my brother tries to persuade him again to no avail, I guess he might…”

“Overthrow the current City Lord, take his place, and establish a new order?”

“Yes, based on my understanding of my brother, he is capable of such a thing. Or rather… he has been waiting for such an opportunity.”

“Oh? I can’t tell,” I recalled my first meeting and cooperation with that young man Ninglan Qiuyu.

He didn’t seem like an ambitious person, but more like a reckless youth.

Could such a person really overthrow the old fox who had been the City Lord for so long?

“At first, I thought so too…”

“Then what made you change your view of him?”

I continued to ask.

After all, since the old City Lord had chosen to join forces with the Nightmare Demon, then the other party had already become a target I had to get rid of.

I understood the priorities here.

In any case, I couldn’t let the Abyssal Demons gain any advantage.

Although it seemed like I was just haggling with Ninglan Qiuyue at this moment, I was very clear about what I needed to do.

I was just testing Ninglan Qiuyue’s bottom line, testing her attitude.

Now it seemed, she was still a little naive?

“When I saw him learn to hide himself…”

“Hide himself? That’s interesting.”

Hiding his own emotions and thoughts, showing weakness to the enemy, and biding his time.

This was the mark of someone who was going to do great things.

It was just that the crime of patricide might not be good… but if it was said that the current City Lord had gone down the wrong path and he was justly eliminating a relative, then the meaning would be different.

“Then how do the ordinary people in Ninglan New City view the City Lord and the outsiders now?”

“The ordinary people… many of them have been harassed by the Nightmares. Even if they haven’t been harassed, they have heard of the terror of the Nightmares. So the people in the city are still very dependent on the City Lord’s protection. And the arrival of the outsiders has also brought a lot of trouble to the residents of the city. And when the City Lord deals with those unscrupulous outsiders, they also clap their hands in approval…”

“Oh ho he has neither power nor the people’s hearts. Does your brother also want to use the power of the outsiders to resist?”

“Yes, so… the first step, we need to publicize what the City Lord has done.”

“An information war. But this is very difficult. You can’t just simply expose what the City Lord has done. This will directly shake the foundation of Ninglan New City and damage the prestige of your Ninglan City Lord’s lineage.”

“In my brother’s words, the pain is only temporary.”

“Indeed, if Ninglan New City can return to its former state, or even go a step further after this pain, then all of this is naturally worth it. But this is also just an ‘if’.”

“Alright, I won’t chat with you anymore. My attitude is that I have no attitude. In any case, I also have to thank you for bringing me here. I generally don’t offer help in times of need. Most people are like this. Only when you prove your own value can you attract more people to add flowers to the brocade.”

“Is that so…”

“Yes, I just hate trouble.”

“By the way, I want to ask you a question on behalf of someone.”

“Oh? Who? Tan Han?”

“Yes, she… said she has something she wants to talk to you about alone. She asked if you would give her this opportunity?”

“If it’s just a chat, of course. What, are you planning to bring them down soon?”

“Yes, and also, she said that if you refuse, let me explain that what she wants to talk to you about is something closely related to herself, not to trouble you with anything. That’s about it.”

“Is that so? That’s fine too. I’m not that unapproachable. I just don’t want to answer those foolish questions. Many questions already have an answer when they are asked. That would make me look stupid, like a clown.”

“Is there anything else? If not, I’m going back,” I said.

After all, if Ninglan Qiuyue hadn’t suddenly come looking for me, I should be looking for Big Sis Bai right now.

But just as I had hoped before, I didn’t mind Ninglan Qiuyue coming back to find me frequently.

After all, she could bring a lot of useful and interesting news from Ninglan New City on the surface.

Even if she ultimately came with a troublesome problem that made me make a choice, just like now, I didn’t mind.

Because this was not a difficult choice for me to make.

I was just curious to see to what extent people facing difficulties could go to achieve their goals.

This Ninglan Qiuyue didn’t seem as simple as she appeared.

“I might have some other things to attend to here. In any case, I was rude this time.”

“Not rude at all. Everyone has their own choices. If possible, I also hope you can tell me more about the situation outside. I’m very interested.”

“Yes, I will. Next time, if everything goes smoothly.”

Watching Ninglan Qiuyue’s departing figure, I also fell into deep thought.

I was originally thinking of making a move to push the development of the script, but I didn’t expect those Nightmare Demons to be one step ahead of me.

It seemed I had to go up and see the situation.

But before that, I still had to talk to Big Sis Bai.

I hope Big Sis Bai can support me.
