The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 48: Chapter 47: Skill Upgrade Guide

After seeing Guan Tiantian off, Fu Yu went straight back to the dormitory with Zhao Meng.

Tonight’s gains were truly abundant.

Just the service fee was 6,866, not to mention the 300 completion reward and the 1,000 deposit just paid by Guan Tiantian.

It was the first time he did a home service job since entering the field, and it ended so smoothly.

Moreover, he earned the biggest bonus of his life!

Just thinking about it made him excited.

But after a moment of happiness, Fu Yu soon calmed down.

Making nearly ten thousand yuan in one day is like a pie falling from the sky.

He just got lucky meeting a well-connected rich woman.

Opportunities like this are hard to come by, who knows when the next one will be.

After all, he is just a little helper in the kitchen, and he hasn’t even passed the regularization test.

Still, this unexpected income made him very happy.

And besides the money, he also received a generous task reward.

Although he didn’t have time to look closely just now, the electronic sound that flashed by his ears let him accurately catch the hint about the random prize.

For him, a random prize is like the first prize directly given by the task, just with a more subtle name.

No idea what treasure the random prize will be this time!

Thinking of this, Fu Yu became even more expectant.

Back in the dorm, Fu Yu went directly to Zhao Meng’s room.

Zhao Meng opened the door, saw Fu Yu wanting to come in, paused in closing the door, then thought of something, released his hand, and let Fu Yu in.

Fu Yu sat on a chair, took out his phone, and transferred 5,000 yuan to Zhao Meng via WeChat.

Fu Yu knew Zhao Meng treated him well, but good as it is, the service fee for home services should be taken!

The original service fee is just how much a table of food costs, set by the employer.

Once the money is made, it should be distributed fairly.

Although Fu Yu is nominally the banquet chef, tonight’s affair couldn’t have been tackled without Zhao Meng’s help, and he naturally wouldn’t have earned this money.

Especially when Zhao Meng worked his tail off; how could you let someone work for nothing?

There’s no such way to handle things!

Zhao Meng noticed his phone vibrate.

He took it out to check and found it was a transfer, his face instantly darkened, staring at Fu Yu: ”What’s the meaning of this?”

Fu Yu smiled: ”Chef Zhao, if it hadn’t been for you tonight, I wouldn’t have dared to take the job, let alone cook. And if I hadn’t heard you talk about the Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet, I wouldn’t have thought of creating this table of food.”

Zhao Meng looked at Fu Yu and asked the doubt in his heart: ”Since you didn’t know about the Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet, why did you think to ask me about it at the time?”

Fu Yu froze.

Realizing his slip, he responded reactively!

Right, he had never heard of the Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet but thought to ask Zhao Meng what kind of banquet it was.

Fu Yu’s mind spun quickly, his peripheral vision catching Zhao Meng holding the phone, an idea struck, he explained: ”Oh, I was just flying by the seat of my pants, thinking of checking Manchu special dishes and I saw a picture of the Eight Dishes and Eight Bowls banquet.”

Zhao Meng realized, so it was seeing a picture, no wonder.

But then Zhao Meng accepted the money with a dark face and transferred it back to Fu Yu untouched: ”You keep the service fee, this job was specifically a customer request for you, even going by the rules, I was just helping out voluntarily.”

Zhao Meng wasn’t just saying it to be polite.

In the restaurant, though not often encountering customers requesting chefs for home services, it does happen sometimes.

Since home services are typically handled by chefs or lead chefs, assistants are inevitably needed.

But because it’s always with the kitchen helpers, typically after getting the money, the chefs or lead chefs will give a hundred or two as compensation to the helpers who went to work.

Zhao Meng certainly wouldn’t care about such compensation.

Especially when a person of his status, since willing to act as a helper, it’s purely to help out, not thinking of splitting the money.

Fu Yu was driven out of the room by Zhao Meng.

Thinking, since he refused the money, he might as well buy two packs of Zhonghua cigarettes to express his gratitude to Zhao Meng later.

Back in his room, as soon as Fu Yu closed the door, he couldn’t wait to check the task rewards.

Before the dialog box unfolded, an electronic prompt sounded by his ear:

[Ding! Task experience full, upgrade available!]

Upgrade available?

Ignoring the task completion rewards, Fu Yu hastily pulled up his personal attribute file.

[Name: Fu Yu]

[Occupation: Chef]

[Level: lv5: 1100/1000 (kitchen helper)][...]

As expected, task experience was enough!

Expand [...]

[Upgrade: Yes or No?]

Fu Yu chose ”Yes”.

[Ding! Level upgraded to lv5, skill point +1]

Skill points are valuable; they can save the day in a pinch.

Not needing it for now, for sure setting it aside for later.

It was the previous task reward that made him extremely excited.

A skill upgrade guide and a random prize.

[Skill Upgrade Guide: Can enhance any personal skill, obtain methods for skill improvement, and gain a large amount of skill experience,

enhance the skill level. The specific number of skill experience points gained depends on the learning outcome.]

It sounds impressive!

This means if he wants to improve a specific skill in cooking, he could get the corresponding learning method.

With the methods provided, if he studies hard, he might jump from level zero to advanced in one go, who knows.

Is it a test of his talent?

Or a grind of his willpower?

No matter which, Fu Yu wasn’t in the mood to explore now, his focus was still on the random prize.

No idea what treasure it would reveal this time!

Fu Yu selected to check.

[Ding! Obtained random prize: Mastery of Heat Control (advanced)]

Fu Yu: ”!”

Damn?

Amazing!!

This luck, it must be, he could probably grill lamb kebabs on his ancestor’s grave!

Sure enough, the random prize is never random.

Selected to check.

[Mastery of Heat Control (advanced): Mastering heat correctly is key to creating dishes with excellent color, aroma, taste, shape, quality, and nutrition. With this skill, you can freely control the size and duration of the fire to manipulate the cooking process, allowing dishes to form with tender, fluffy, crispy, brittle, clingy, and glutinous features.]

After reading, Fu Yu’s eyes lit up.

As a cook, precisely mastering heat is quite a skill challenge.

Fu Yu was overjoyed.

Excitedly shadowboxing, he heard rapid footsteps outside the door.

”Fu Yu!”

Fu Yu paused, quickly turned to open the door.

”Chef Zhao?”

Zhao Meng rushed over, seeing Fu Yu, and hurriedly said: ”Come on, back to the kitchen!”

Fu Yu quickly followed behind: ”What’s up?”

Zhao Meng said while walking: ”Just got a big order, someone ordered takeaway.”

”Ordered eighty seafood porridge sets.”

”What?!”
