The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Random Prizes Are Even More Thrilling Than Blind Boxes

Fu Yu carefully looked through his personal attributes.

He discovered that he had added two new professional skills: stewing and boiling.

But what does this honor title ”Rising Star of the Kitchen” mean?

As the thought flashed across his mind, a [!] appeared after the words ”Rising Star of the Kitchen.”

Fu Yu chose to view it.

[Rising Star of the Kitchen: A rising star in the kitchen should have the spirit of craftsmanship passed down from the older generation of chefs, and enhance the innovative awareness of the new generation of chefs.

This innovation not only reflects in culinary skills and cooking methods, but more importantly, in the selection of ingredients and seasonings, creating delicious dishes to satisfy the increasingly picky taste buds of diners.

One hundred percent customer satisfaction is specially rewarded with this title.

Wearing this title: There is a certain chance to acquire the advanced skills of those around you when cooking independently.]

Fu Yu: ”!”

This honor title is kind of awesome!

If I could stay by Zhao Meng’s side and cook a few more times, could I randomly learn some of his advanced cooking techniques?

Thinking about it, I’m actually a little excited.

Fu Yu casually grabbed a towel nearby to wipe his hands.

Just as he was about to step aside, Zhao Meng patted him on the shoulder.

”The table you just did was great, the guests were very satisfied, so why don’t you do the next table too.”

Fu Yu: ...

Why do I feel like you’re starting to exploit me again?

”Here! The order slip.”

Fu Yu glanced at the slip in Zhao Meng’s hand.

Okay then!

After being exploited for almost a year, this time doesn’t make a difference.

Besides, accepting the task comes with rewards, so it’s not a loss.

Fu Yu reached out to take the order slip.

An electronic tone immediately sounded in his ear.

[Ding! Task from NPC Zhao Meng: Complete a table as the head chef. Task requirement: Customer satisfaction. Task completion reward: One random prize, Task XP +100]

Fu Yu’s eyes lit up.

Another random prize!

If I get more task experience points, will I be able to level up to a mid-level chef after a few times?

Just thinking about it makes me excited!

He picked up the order slip and looked through it carefully.

Order slip for Room 207 guests: Two servings of seafood congee, cold mixed fern root noodles, sesame oil tofu, and cold mixed lettuce shreds.

At first glance, Fu Yu couldn’t recognize which guests were at this table.

Qianlima Restaurant is quite a long-established brand in this city, with many returning customers coming and going.

After working for a long time, with some guests dining in, Fu Yu could guess who they were just by looking at the order slip.

But this table really didn’t leave an impression.

”Chef Zhao? Do these guests have any dietary restrictions?”

This time Zhao Meng didn’t pretend to be deaf and dumb, and he seriously instructed, ”The guests are a young couple, they usually like spicy and sweet foods. But they’re not feeling well this time, so they can’t eat spicy food. All dishes need to be made sweet and sour.”

Young couple, likes spicy and sweet.

Fu Yu suddenly remembered two people and asked, ”Are they the ones who once ordered Mao Xuewang and insisted on adding half a bag of our sugar?”

Zhao Meng nodded, ”That’s them.”

Fu Yu carried a basin over to prepare the ingredients and casually asked, ”Not feeling well? Are they sick?”

Zhao Meng: ”They said they have internal heat and a toothache, so they don’t dare to eat spicy.”

Fu Yu: ...

What’s this logic?

Toothache from internal heat, and they don’t dare to eat spicy.

And then they ordered a pot of seafood congee and need it to be sweet and sour.

Fu Yu picked out large prawns from the basin, shaking his head with a wry smile: ”Aren’t they afraid that seafood will exacerbate their condition? They’re really quite fearless.”

Zhao Meng chuckled and said, ”They have money, so what are they afraid of? At worst, they’ll have all their teeth pulled and replaced with diamond ones, and then even gnawing on bones will have extra friction.”

Diamond-teeth gnawing bones??

Honestly, doesn’t it sound kind of cool?

As soon as Zhao Meng finished speaking, the people nearby burst into laughter.

The rice was pre-soaked, and the sea cucumber was ready, the clams had spit out their sand, only the fresh fish and shrimp needed processing.

These tasks were quite easy for Fu Yu.

With all the materials prepared.

Fu Yu poured water into the clay pot, and no prompts appeared during the process.

The quantities for cooking seafood congee are proportioned, and Zhao Meng had marked the prep list countless times.

Fu Yu’s preparations were skilled, and his operations were smooth.

He washed the rice clean again with water and mixed it with a small amount of oil.

The fresh fish and shrimp were prepared.

He cut the fish, shrimp, squid, and rehydrated sea cucumber into small pieces, blanched them in boiling water, and then rinsed them with cold water.

After draining, he put all the seafood into a small basin.

He scooped salt with a spoon.

The [!] appeared again.

He shook off some.

The [!] disappeared.

He continued.

Added sugar.

The [!] appeared.

Add another half spoon.

[!] Disappeared.

Finally, add pepper powder.

Under Zhao Meng’s piercing gaze, Fu Yu braced himself, his hand shaking again and again.

Finally, mix well for marination.

Beside him, Zhao Meng proactively stepped forward to help fetch a pot and boil water.

Fu Yu grinned.

This feeling of having someone to assist is really quite nice, huh.

Add rice when the water boils.

As Zhao Meng poured a bowl of rice into the pot, [!] appeared again. Fu Yu hurriedly reached into the pot with a spoon to scoop some rice out, then added more water.

His swift actions were as fierce as a tiger.

Zhao Meng was so angry his temples throbbed.

Given there were others around, Zhao Meng was considerate of Fu Yu’s dignity, quietly asking, ”What are you doing?”

Cooking seafood porridge has a set ratio, a recipe Zhao Meng learned from his master years ago and has used ever since, never failing to achieve a fresh and savory result.

Changing the quantities of rice and water would definitely affect the taste.

Fu Yu, under Zhao Meng’s glare as if he had usurped his position, explained reluctantly, ”This way, the rice grains will be softer.”

With less rice and more water, wouldn’t it need a longer cook? The rice grains would definitely be softer.

But then again, since the customer has a toothache, perhaps softer ingredients would be better?

With a slight hesitation, Zhao Meng saw that Fu Yu had already turned the heat to low and started simmering the porridge.

Zhao Meng shook his head, whatever.

Since he agreed to let Fu Yu take charge, he should let him handle it.

After all, the master leads the way, but practice is up to the individual.

To avoid saying something he might regret, Zhao Meng took a cucumber stick and held it in his mouth.

While waiting for the rice to cook, Fu Yu started preparing side dishes.

Peel and slice the lettuce into shreds.

Blanch for one minute, then take out and soak in cold water.

If it was usual times, Fu Yu would probably approximate the timing.

But now, with the system prompt, he followed the [!] instructions completely.

At least the accuracy was guaranteed.

Add oil to the pot again, and once it’s hot, drizzle in chopped millet pepper and garlic.

Then for the seasoning and mixing time, everything had a standard.

This meal was completely different from before.

The system’s high standards and strict requirements added a lot of difficulty to Fu Yu’s cooking process.

Even simple seafood porridge and refreshing mixed dishes were no longer easy to make.

Fu Yu put the bracken starch noodles in the pot to cook.

The timing was precisely eight minutes.

Repeatedly rinsing in water, the number of times based on the system’s satisfaction.

He went to add extra sugar to the seasoning but was firmly stopped by [!].

After a slight hesitation, Fu Yu decided to leave it to fate.

Anyway, the system is so awesome!

He managed the previous meal, so this one shouldn’t be a problem either.

Finally, there was sesame oil tofu strips left.

This dish shouldn’t be controversial, after all, it’s Zhao Meng’s original creation, the tofu already mixed with walnut oil, it doesn’t even need tasting; the fragrance is already overflowing.

Side dishes are done.

Simmer the porridge over low heat for half an hour, pour in all seafood and cook together until done.

Add salt and pepper, sprinkle with julienned ginger and spring onions, then it can be served.

Look at this pot of visually appealing and delicious seafood porridge, and these finger-licking refreshing side dishes.

Fu Yu looked at Zhao Meng with a face full of showing off: Zhao Qianlang, aren’t you going to hurry and praise me?!

Still glaring?

Can’t you smell this aroma?

Fu Yu pondered: Or is he afraid I’ll become arrogant?

Zhao Meng glared, ”Why are you staring at me? If you don’t hurry and serve it, the customers will get anxious!”

Fu Yu: ”Chef Zhao, don’t you have anything to say to me? Like ’the student surpasses the master’ or something?”

Zhao Meng perfunctorily said, ”Uh-huh, you’re the best! Hurry up and serve!”

The server, Wang Yuxuan, couldn’t help but laugh, ”Stop fooling around, the guests have arrived.”

Fu Yu helplessly had to turn and take the wooden ladle.

The seafood porridge was served into a special clay pot, and the refreshing cold dishes were plated meticulously.

The server made several trips to bring all the dishes to the table.

Two minutes later.

[Ding! NPC Zhao Meng’s task: Preparing a table of dishes, successfully completed. Task completion reward: One random prize, task experience +100]

[Receive random prize: Yes or No]

Here it goes again!

Fu Yu chose ”Yes,” silently chanting for task experience, task experience!!!

[Ding! Congratulations on receiving a random prize: A non-stick oil skimmer!]

Fu Yu was dumbfounded?

What?

A skimmer?

What’s up with the non-stick oil?
