The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: New Skill

Fu Yu was surprised to find that there was a [!] on the crab.

After selecting it to view, it was no longer a dialog box but turned into a virtual icon instead.

From the crab’s claws to its back legs, the entire body outline was circled in a green line.

What does the green line mean?

After checking carefully, he confirmed there were no further hint options and could only try laying the crab on its back on the plate.

During the sprinkling of salt, MSG, and Jiang Mo, the green line hovered brightly and didn’t change at all.

Until he started to place the crab into the steamer basket, the green line near the left back leg of the crab suddenly turned red.

And indeed, that leg was somewhat misaligned.

Fu Yu adjusted that leg.

Sure enough, the red line turned green.

He then tried intentionally lifting the crab claws.

The red line appeared once again.

Fu Yu’s eyes widened.

So that’s it!

Just like the car’s rearview camera display, the green line represents okay, while the red line indicates an error needing adjustment.

And by following the prompts, he could achieve the perfect plating.

Fu Yu had a sudden thought.

Is this compensation for not completing yesterday’s daily task?

Otherwise, why had the green line never appeared before when he plated?

Forget it, how it came is not important.

What’s important is that this feature is truly useful!

As long as he does the plating himself, the green line will appear.

In the future, Chef Zhao won’t have to worry about his plating issues anymore!

With the green line as a guide, Fu Yu nimbly arranged four crabs.

Yao Shi poured the chicken soup into the pot and came over to check while waiting for the soup to boil.

He saw Fu Yu quickly plate the fifth crab.

The four crabs plated earlier looked like carbon copies.

Whether it was the crab claws or legs, all were perfectly aligned, seamless, and precise.

Plating might seem easy, but in reality, every movement must be extra careful, without casually touching the crab legs, and can’t be careless at all.

Only those who have worked in the kitchen know that this is not only manual labor but also a test of patience and attentiveness, none of which can be lacking.

One steamer basket per table, four crabs in total.

For forty-six tables, 184 crabs need to be placed.

Fu Yu stood at the kitchen table for half an hour.

During this time, he kept his head down and mouth closed, as if he was holding not crabs but hefty gold ingots, looking extremely focused.

Yao Shi came by once more, and then directly left the crab handling to Fu Yu.

After plating the last crab, he started steaming them.

At this point, a junior worker came over to take over.

Yao Shi gave the time instructions, indicating that once steamed, they could be served directly.

After sending away the junior worker, Yao Shi called Fu Yu over to assist him.

In the pot was a traditional abalone, ginseng, and shark’s fin soup.

Yao Shi used a slotted spoon to lift the ingredients to check their tenderness, then handed the spoon to Fu Yu.

Fu Yu hurriedly took it, then proceeded to the sink to clean several used kitchen tools.

Thanks to the non-greasy slotted spoon.

Every time Yao Shi needed a kitchen tool, Fu Yu could hand it over at once.

In the back and forth, the two started to develop a mutual understanding unconsciously.

Butter-baked lobster is not particularly difficult; as long as you control the heat well, there should be no problems.

However, the traditional abalone, ginseng, and shark’s fin soup was different. Fu Yu carefully asked about the method of simmering the chicken soup and took the opportunity to get closer to Chef Yao.

Fu Yu originally thought that since Yao Shi was so capable, he must have a set of successful secrets.

If he could find them out, maybe it would be greatly beneficial.

Unexpectedly, after chatting for a while, he didn’t discover any secret tips but instead became more convinced of his original thought.

In order to improve culinary skills, there are no shortcuts.

Only by practicing diligently, gaining inspiration through practical experience, can there be progress.

After all, a good memory is not as effective as a bad pen.

Everything still requires hands-on practice and attempts.

No matter how high-end a wedding banquet is, it’s just a banquet.

No matter how excellent a chef’s skills are, they can’t fully counterbalance the altered texture caused by food ingredients getting cold and fats solidifying.

A total of forty-six tables were prepared today.

Yao Shi hardly left the kitchen table, making butter-baked lobsters one after another.

Fu Yu gradually adapted to Yao Shi’s work rhythm.

Initially, he needed verbal instructions from Yao Shi, but later he could understand his intentions with just a glance.

Even Yao Shi had to agree with Zhao Meng’s opinion.

Fu Yu is indeed clever and has a talent for cooking, being a promising apprentice.

If properly trained, he is bound to develop well in the future.

And most importantly, Fu Yu possesses a steadiness and persistence that is rare among his peers.

Just watching him focus on plating at the kitchen table showcased his innate determination.

Unknowingly, Yao Shi’s attitude towards Fu Yu became increasingly amicable.

[Ding! Daily task: Assist in completing three table setups, successfully completed. Rewards: 100 yuan, task experience +30]

An electronic voice sounded unexpectedly.

Before Fu Yu could react, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He knew without looking that it was definitely an account notification.

Fu Yu was delighted.

The daily task was completed.

A hundred yuan in hand!

Just now, his arms felt a bit sore from plating crabs, but now he was immediately revitalized!

...

Once all the dishes were brought to the tables, the kitchen was already in a state of chaos and mess.

After a busy day, Fu Yu, though exhausted, was more mentally exhilarated.

The plating skills he had painstakingly practiced with little effect had finally made significant progress, and he couldn’t wait to show it off to Zhao Meng.

Changing out of his work clothes, Yao Shi invited Fu Yu to leave together.

”I’ll give you a ride back.”

They got into a Land Rover.

As the vehicle was high, looking at the pedestrians outside was from a slight downward angle.

Fu Yu instantly felt an illusion that his value had risen.

The car drove smoothly to the side entrance of the Qianlima Hotel.

Fu Yu unbuckled his seatbelt, just about to thank him and get off, when Yao Shi suddenly said, ”I just sent you a red packet on WeChat. Remember to accept it.”

Fu Yu was momentarily surprised, quickly refusing, ”No need, Chef Yao. I didn’t know the music restaurant was yours before, but it’s only right to help you out. How can I take your money?”

Yao Shi laughed and said, ”This is your wage for today, your normal earnings, and not a favor. Besides, I’m just a partner in the restaurant, and this money is from the public account. You can safely accept it.”

Only then did Fu Yu comfortably accept the money.

[Ding! NPC Chef Yao Shi’s task: Assist in the kitchen for a day at the music restaurant, successfully completed. Rewards: 200 yuan, a random prize]

[Draw random prize: Yes or No]

A double surprise, double happiness!

Fu Yu was smiling from ear to ear.

After happily bidding goodbye to Yao Shi and seeing the Land Rover off into the distance, he eagerly chose to draw the random prize.

His first prize was task points.

The second was a non-greasing slotted spoon.

He wondered what the third draw would bring.

Could it be a huge surprise, like ten thousand cash, giving him the joy of easily making money!

[Ding! Congratulations on winning a random prize: Spin the Lucky Wheel once]

Spin the Lucky Wheel?

What does that mean?

Is there a grand prize?
