The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: A Bowl of Plain Noodle Soup

Since it’s just cooking noodles, there’s nothing for the pastry chef to do.

But Qianlima is at least a high-end restaurant.

If you make fresh hand-pulled noodles on the spot, all the ingredients are available.

But this type of dry noodle, the buyer never bought it.

So Fu Yu had to make a trip to the backstreet supermarket himself and bought a bag of wide dry noodles according to the sketch.

By the time he got back, it was already past the end of the workday.

The rest of the kitchen staff had already planned to go out tonight.

Now seeing there’s an issue again, no one dared to leave.

Sun Qingning asked, ”What’s going on?”

Fu Yu explained, ”Oh, the customer requested another bowl of seafood noodles.”

Sun Qingning breathed a sigh of relief, ”Ah, false alarm.”

Then he remembered something and said worriedly, ”But Chef Zhao isn’t here, so what do we do?”

Fu Yu said, ”I’ll cook it.”

Sun Qingning wanted to say, ”Can you do it?”

The words were on the tip of his tongue but he swallowed them back down.

Now that neither the head chef nor the sous chef was there, among the junior chefs in the kitchen, only Fu Yu and Yao Yihang could barely hold their own.

”Should I assist you then?”

Sun Qingning offered sincerely.

With Zhao Meng not around, only a few of them were left, so they could help each other if possible.

Especially since there was no competitive relationship between him and Fu Yu.

After the previous incident, Sun Qingning had already excluded himself from the candidates vying for promotion.

Fu Yu waved his hand, ”No need. You guys go have fun. It’s just a bowl of noodles, I can handle it myself.”

Sun Qingning wanted to say more, but the others stopped him.

”Fu Yu said it’s fine, so let’s go.”

Though nobody said it out loud, they were quite opinionated inside.

They were all junior chefs, yet Fu Yu managed to get Zhao Meng’s favor and attention.

Jealousy and envy were one aspect, but mainly it was a sense of unfairness.

Why him!

Yao Yihang got Gu Yunwu’s attention because, like Fu Yu, he works as a commis, but Yao already had over two years of professional experience when hired.

Not only can he handle cooking on his own, but his skills in knife work and flipping the wok are outstanding among the juniors.

Yao Yihang had convincing credentials.

What did Fu Yu have?

A poor kid from a county town.

Graduate of a culinary school with no kitchen experience.

No matter how you count, there’s nothing convincing!

The others left as planned.

Leaving Fu Yu alone in the kitchen.

Cooking noodle soup wasn’t difficult.

Fu Yu prepared the ingredients and poured oil into the pot.

Once the oil was hot, he tossed in some scallions, and as soon as the aroma rose, he poured in the prepared warm water.

As he was busy, Wang Yuxuan came into the kitchen to check on his progress.

”Why is it just you? Where is everyone else?”

Fu Yu turned around, ”Off work, they’re gone.”

Wang Yuxuan frowned, ”The customer is waiting, and they all left? Not even one to help you?”

Fu Yu explained, ”It’s just a bowl of noodles, I can manage, so I let them go.”

Wang Yuxuan nodded. Hearing Fu Yu say that, it did seem like no big deal.

Cooking noodles, you just wait for the water to boil, then add the ingredients.

That’s what she thought, so when she saw Fu Yu toss a small handful of dry noodles into the pot with her own eyes, she was utterly flabbergasted.

No, this is too much cutting corners!

The customer ordered seafood noodles, priced at 168 a bowl, and he’s using dry noodles that cost at most eight bucks?

This... isn’t this a bit unreasonable?

The bowl Chef Zhao made earlier was perfect in color, aroma, and taste. Even just holding the plate, the savory scent was enough to whet an appetite.

Now with Fu Yu cooking up a pot of dry noodles, what seafood can compensate for the taste difference?

It’s simply nonsense!

If you serve a bowl of dry noodles like this, the customer will definitely flip out.

With no outsiders in the kitchen, Wang Yuxuan looked at Fu Yu in disbelief, ”Are you really planning to serve just a pot of dry noodles to the customer? No matter how you cook it, it’s still dry noodles!”

”I’m telling you, Fu Yu, don’t be fooled by how nice the customer sounds. Once it’s on the table, if the seafood noodles aren’t to their liking, this won’t end well!”

”If the customer makes a scene, with Chef Zhao and others not around, the responsibility will fall entirely on you! What will you do then? If the boss finds out, a fine is the least of your concerns; you might even get fired!”

Wang Yuxuan was getting increasingly anxious, ”If you really can’t make it right, see if you can contact Chef Zhao, or order one from outside and get through this hurdle first.”

Fu Yu stirred the dry noodles in the pot with chopsticks to prevent sticking.

”No, there’s no time, the seafood noodles Chef Zhao makes are so authentic, and they’re not satisfied, even ordering from outside, the taste wouldn’t match.”

Wang Yuxuan was frantic, ”You know the situation, yet you still mess around! Why try to prove yourself so recklessly? I think you should quickly call Chef Zhao. Even if it means making the customer wait a bit, it’s better than serving dry noodles!”

Fu Yu kept stirring the noodles and casually sprinkled in the prepared shrimp skins.

”No, Chef Zhao went to help at a music restaurant, he definitely can’t make it back.”

Wang Yuxuan was exasperated, ”But you can’t mess around like this!”

Fu Yu turned the heat down a bit more, ”It’s fine, I know what I’m doing.”

Wang Yuxuan: ”...” Yeah right, you don’t know anything!

Fu Yu: ”Alright, they’ll be done soon. I’ll personally bring them over in a bit.”

Wang Shu Xuan sneered, ”Even if you personally bring it over, they won’t be satisfied! I’m telling you, if they really kick up a fuss, I can’t save you!”

The noodles were cooked.

Fu Yu used a slotted ladle to scoop out the noodles and put them into a large, pre-prepared bowl.

The porcelain white surface of the large bowl was plain, with a deep bottom.

When the noodles were served, a green streak instantly appeared.

According to the instructions, Fu Yu filled the bowl a third full with noodles, poured the soup over, and finally picked out shrimp skins with chopsticks to top it off.

To make it look nicer, Fu Yu specifically went to the storage room to get a dish of newly pickled lemon chicken feet and spicy and refreshing secret recipe radish chunks.

One bowl of noodles, two small dishes.

Fu Yu carried the tray to private room 210.

Wang Yuxuan followed behind, all kinds of thoughts of giving up running through her mind.

The customer ordered seafood noodles.

The kitchen was serving watery dry noodle soup.

Won’t the noodles just be slammed onto the table?!

Can’t even imagine!!

...

At the same time, in private room 210.

Xu Dan frowned, looking at Su Ying’s eagerly anticipating face.

She didn’t want to disappoint Su Ying.

The kid was really sweet, and it was rare for her to make a request. Xu Dan wanted to fulfill it since she agreed.

But that young chef just now didn’t seem very reliable.

If it really doesn’t work, maybe after filming tomorrow, they could try a different place.

Where else in Bei’an is known for good pasta?

Xu Dan thought for a moment, and suddenly her eyes lit up.

She remembered someone, a planner from a certain livestream platform.

This person recently did a series on gourmet diner finds, so they definitely had contacts in the field.

Xu Dan had given up any hope for Qianlima’s kitchen.

Thinking that when the noodles came, they shouldn’t make things difficult for the sous chef.

After all, every profession has its difficulties, so mutual understanding is key.
