The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: The Nonstick Wok

Back in the dormitory, it was already nine-thirty at night.

Fu Yu didn’t bother to wash up, and as soon as he closed the door, he quickly looked at the reward he just received: a recipe favored by a customer with anorexia.

Choose to view it.

A clearly listed recipe appeared before his eyes.

It was a real recipe.

Meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as daily snacks, even drinks that need to be consumed every day were all included with detailed cooking methods. Very comprehensive, very reliable.

This thing looks pretty good, but it’s somewhat superfluous in reality.

After all, there are only a few anorexic patients who can actually come to the restaurant to eat.

However, it’s better than nothing.

Fu Yu is easily satisfied.

He then chose to draw a random reward.

Whether it’s points, badges, or any other rewards, Fu Yu was very much looking forward to it.

[Ding! Congratulations on receiving a random prize: a non-stick frying pan]

A non-stick frying pan?

Fu Yu’s eyes lit up.

Judging by the attributes of the oil-less ladle, this non-stick frying pan is definitely what it seems.

No matter how you cook, it won’t stick.

Fu Yu chose to check the attributes of the non-stick frying pan.

[Non-stick frying pan: A high-quality pure iron frying pan, with a large open top, round bottom, smooth and flat pan surface, the pan handle is wrapped in high-quality wood, no coating, does not rust, and food will never stick to the bottom during cooking!]

Indeed!

Fu Yu was overjoyed.

This frying pan has invincible skills!

When cooking, the chef’s biggest fear is the pan sticking, sometimes when you’re too busy, a moment’s negligence and the ingredients will stick to the bottom.

With this magical skill, there will be no need to worry about this from now on.

Moreover, the attributes clearly state that the pan has no coating and does not rust, which will also save a lot of trouble when cleaning in the future.

After all, iron pans rust easily, and the coating will definitely wear off over time.

Now, with these two concerns eliminated, you can use all frying pans as you wish.

Fu Yu smiled so broadly that his mouth couldn’t close.

He knew that the random prize would definitely not be just any ordinary thing, each one was a treasure!

Just as he was rejoicing, his phone suddenly dinged with two messages, a WeChat text message.

Fu Yu picked up the phone to check.

It turned out to be a message in a small work group from the restaurant, saying that there’s an event at a nearby supermarket tomorrow, and those who have time can go and have a look.

Fu Yu glanced at it and didn’t think much of it, but when he put down his phone, he suddenly remembered that tomorrow was his day off.

Fu Yu quickly sent a message to Zhao Meng: [Chef Zhao, is it my day off tomorrow?]

Zhao Meng hadn’t gone to bed yet and quickly replied: [Yes.]

Fu Yu was in a great mood.

Happily, he reopened the small group chat to see colleagues discussing discounted goods at the supermarket.

Since he lives and eats at the shop, he only needs to buy some daily necessities, and occasionally some snacks to satisfy his cravings.

Fu Yu carefully checked through the messages.

He roughly memorized a few discounted items and couldn’t help but exclaim inwardly, I’m really a money-saving expert.

After this shopping trip, he wouldn’t have to spend any money for another month.

With a deep understanding of what it means to be poor, Fu Yu has a money-saving strategy that suits him.

But...

I have money now!

Fu Yu checked his bank balance on his phone and found that he had surprisingly saved over a thousand yuan.

In just a few days, he had managed to earn a sizable amount of extra savings.

If it continues like this, he could easily make five to six thousand a month, plus his two thousand salary, which would amount to nearly eight thousand in income.

Equivalent to four months of his salary?

Clap clap clap!

Fu Yu was so happy he clapped his hands!

This money is almost like it’s been blown in by the wind!

Tomorrow he must go shopping!

Buy whatever he wants to eat!

Spend two hundred with all his might!

As soon as the thought occurred, Fu Yu quickly slapped himself awake.

Whoa!

Almost got carried away!

Just got a thousand yuan, and he’s already thinking about an uncertain eight thousand a month later, planning to celebrate by spending it.

Stay calm!

Only when the money is in hand, is it truly yours.

Stay steady, don’t squander it.

Moreover, if he can truly earn eight thousand a month, shouldn’t he first consider saving up to choose a suitable apartment and pay a down payment?

If this progress to a full-time position is successful, and he can have a place of his own, then he can consider himself truly settled in this city with a home of his own.

Just the thought of it makes me excited.

Because I was too excited, I had some insomnia.

Fu Yu decided to practice the divine right hand technique in bed for a while.

Originally planning to stop after a taste, he found that with the increase in speed, the effect was significant.

Unable to control himself for a moment, he kept at it until the early morning, finally falling asleep from exhaustion.

When Fu Yu woke up again, it was already ten thirty the next morning.

He quickly tidied up a bit and went to the back kitchen to eat.

Just as Zhao Meng received an order for sweet and sour pork, seeing Fu Yu come over, he fried an extra half plate.

Fu Yu said with a smile, ”Thanks, Chef Zhao. I’m going to the supermarket later, is there anything you need?”

Zhao Meng shook his head, ”No need, I don’t lack anything.”

Fu Yu was about to leave with the plate when Dai Li came over to deliver dishes.

”Hey, did you hear? Our restaurant is going to expand, the dormitory will be renovated too.”

Dai Li had just met the accountant from finance, being from the same hometown, she chatted a bit and learned this news.

Everyone in the back kitchen exploded upon hearing this.

”Seriously? Dormitory renovation? Where are we going to stay?”

Most of the employees living in the dormitory are from out of town, if the store doesn’t allow them to live here, they will have nowhere to stay.

Dai Li, being a local, doesn’t usually stay at the store, upon hearing it, she tried to give advice: ”If they’re renovating, you definitely can’t live there, you’ll have to rent outside, just wonder if the boss will give some subsidy.”

For a while, all the discussion in the back kitchen centered around dormitory renovation and renting a place.

Fu Yu chewed the delicious sweet and sour pork, but lost his appetite.

Although he hasn’t rented a place outside before, he has heard about it now and then.

With the real estate prices in this city, renting a place casually would cost a few thousand.

Especially given the prime location of their restaurant, wanting to live nearby, the rent certainly won’t be cheap.

Fu Yu felt sorry for the money.

The company would probably only give a token subsidy, the bulk would have to come out of his own pocket.

Fu Yu, holding the plate, mumbled beside Zhao Meng, ”What’s the idea of renovating? Dai Li said she heard it from the accountant, so it’s for sure. If they really start the work, where are we going to live?”

Zhao Meng, busy with his work, frowned and said, ”Rent a place, where else can you stay?”

”Chef Zhao, do you know where I can rent a place?” Fu Yu asked, ”Preferably close to our shop, since we go to work early and get off late, the rent can’t be too high, I’m broke, I’m too poor...”

Zhao Meng continued his work, saying, ”I know, my home.”

”You have a home...” Fu Yu was extremely surprised.

The half-sentence ”If you have a home why are you living in the dormitory” was kicked back by Zhao Meng with a nudge.

He asked cheerfully, ”Chef Zhao, given our relationship, can you give me a discount?”

Zhao Meng served the dish, waited for the server to take the plate, and then said, ”Free for you.”

He took out a bunch of keys from his pocket, ”Help me clean up the place, that’ll cover the rent.”

Fu Yu cautiously asked, ”Chef Zhao, how many years has it been since anyone lived in your place? Can I even manage to clean it?”

Zhao Meng laughed and said, ”There’s no official word on the renovation yet, you have time to clean it bit by bit. By the time you really need to move in, it should be about done.”

Fu Yu took the keys.

Unsure of how chaotic Zhao Meng’s home would be.

Zhao Meng took out his phone, typed a line, and sent it to Fu Yu: ”Here’s my home address. It’s your day off, check it out if you have time.”

”Alright, I’ll take a look at the place first, then go to the supermarket.”

Fu Yu was in a good mood.

Just as he was about to take a nap, someone handed him a pillow, making him happy.

Leaving the restaurant, he cheerfully headed straight for Zhao Meng’s home, following the address.

Arriving at the neighborhood, he was quite pleasantly surprised; it’s only a stop away from the restaurant, a brisk walk would get him there in about ten minutes.

And the surroundings looked pretty nice.

Zhao Meng’s building was in the inner area, far from the street, should be quite quiet.

On the sixth floor, with three units per floor, Zhao Meng’s home was the largest one-bedroom unit.

Just the front door of Zhao Meng’s home indicated that the place must have been nicely renovated, Fu Yu took out the keys and opened the door.

The smell of dust hit him, making Fu Yu frown.

Once he saw the layout inside, Fu Yu was stunned.

It turned out to be a sixth-floor unit with a seventh-floor loft, likely the attic on top.

However...

Fu Yu understood why Zhao Meng said the cleaning would cover the rent.

This place, damn it looks like no one has ever lived here!

And it seemed like after the renovation, the workers didn’t even do the finishing work, with open boxes, various bits of trash, and a pile of unidentified furniture parts just sitting on the floor.

To get inside, you would have to find a path yourself.

”What the... damn!” Fu Yu stepped inside, and as soon as his shoe hit the ground, a cloud of white dust rose.

As a penniless drifter...

After circling inside and out, up and down.

Fu Yu’s mindset settled completely.

Anyway, the renovation plans haven’t been officially announced yet, might as well clean up slowly.

Spending half a day every week off here, in a few months, it will be done.

Fu Yu made a copy of the keys, shopped at the supermarket, and returned the key ring to Zhao Meng.
