The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 47: Chapter 46: Booking the Birthday Banquet

Fu Yu and Zhao Meng took the Qin family’s car back to the Qianlima Restaurant.

Halfway there, Fu Yu’s phone suddenly chimed.

Qin Yue recommended a friend’s contact card to him on WeChat.

Fu Yu glanced at the profile picture and recognized it as Liu Yici.

Fu Yu added Liu Yici on WeChat.

A few seconds later, Liu Yici sent a voice message.

Before Fu Yu could check it, she immediately sent over a red envelope.

Fu Yu: ”!”

”Who’s that?”

Zhao Meng, sitting next to Fu Yu in the back seat, turned slightly and saw the phone screen.

Fu Yu opened the profile picture for Zhao Meng to see.

Zhao Meng was startled and was about to speak when Fu Yu returned to the chat interface.

The Qin family’s driver was sitting in the front, so Fu Yu directly converted the voice message to text.

[Chef Fu!! You’re amazing! My best friend is very satisfied with your cooking! Thanks to you, tonight’s family banquet went very smoothly!! I knew you could do it!! This small red envelope is just a token of appreciation! I’ll recommend you to my friends when there’s another chance!!]

It was clear that Liu Yici was in a great mood.

Because of Chef Fu’s excellent performance, she received a lot of praise from her friend, satisfying her vanity.

The Wealthy Lady Liu was in such a good mood that she casually rewarded her assistant Fu Yu with a red envelope as a sign of appreciation.

Fu Yu opened the red envelope.

[200 yuan]

In the eyes of the wealthy, a 200 yuan red envelope must be like the 2 yuan ones ordinary people casually send!!

Fu Yu happily accepted the red envelope.

Zhao Meng watched as Fu Yu received yet another service fee: ”...”

How about that, getting referred for jobs without having to pay a referral fee, and the referrer even sends a red envelope!

Fu Yu blissfully replied to Liu Yici: ”Thank you.”

Liu Yici replied with a handshake emoji.

[Ding! You’ve gained +20 favorability with NPC Wealthy Lady Liu Yici]

Fu Yu was taken aback.

Wow!

In one night, he managed to boost his favorability with Liu Yici twice.

Liu Yici is a wealthy lady; her favorability is quite valuable.

In the future, there might be opportunities for more service introductions from her.

Fu Yu casually replied with a handshake emoji.

The car arrived at Qianlima Restaurant.

After politely bidding farewell to the driver, the two had just arrived at the restaurant entrance when they suddenly saw Miss Guan, whom they met at the Qin’s, jogging over.

Guan Tiantian was running in such a hurry that she was panting heavily when she approached: ”Chef Fu! Hello, my name is Guan Tiantian, we met earlier at the Qin’s.”

Fu Yu was a bit surprised: ”Miss Guan?”

It was clear that Guan Tiantian headed straight to Qianlima Restaurant after leaving the Qin’s.

Fu Yu felt a bit unsettled. What could Miss Guan want with him?

It must be because they enjoyed the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet earlier; is she looking to continue? Or continue with the door-to-door service?

Having roughly guessed Guan Tiantian’s intention, Fu Yu asked, ”Is there something you need from me?”

Guan Tiantian immediately replied excitedly, ”Thank you so much for tonight! The eight dishes and eight bowls banquet you made was very authentic. My parents were very satisfied, and the family banquet was a great success!”

Fu Yu smiled: ”You’re too kind.”

Guan Tiantian suddenly asked, ”Chef Fu, do you have some time now?”

Fu Yu was taken aback.

It’s already 8:30 PM; could it be she still wants door-to-door service at this time?

Is she planning for a late-night snack?

But when Fu Yu looked up, he suddenly noticed a [?] above Guan Tiantian’s head.

Huh?

Is there a task to accept?

Decisively chose to view it.

[Ding! NPC Glamorous Girl Guan Tiantian, inspired by the family banquet, wants to organize a unique birthday banquet. Communicating earnestly may trigger a side quest.]

Fu Yu was surprised, then overjoyed.

A birthday banquet!

Indeed, assigned tasks are always related to rewards.

He had just acquired a special family banquet recipe, and now he’s got a related birthday banquet task.

Fu Yu pretended to check the time and instead asked, ”Miss Guan, is there something you would like?”

Guan Tiantian nodded: ”Chef Fu, there’s something I’d like to ask your help with.”

Fu Yu listened attentively.

Guan Tiantian continued, ”My grandfather is turning sixty-six this year, and I want to hold a birthday banquet for him. I’d like you to be the main chef for the banquet.”

Fu Yu didn’t speak, eagerly anticipating the electronic prompt for the task to be assigned.

One second?

Two seconds??

Three seconds???

Um...

The task prompt requires him to communicate earnestly for a possible side quest trigger.

Was it because he hadn’t talked enough?

Fu Yu took a deep breath, calming himself.

”Birthday banquet? Can you tell me specifically what your requirements are? I don’t really know your grandfather’s dietary preferences, or the specific requirements for the banquet.”

Guan Tiantian quickly said, ”Just do the eight dishes and eight bowls banquet from tonight!”

Fu Yu was stunned: ”A birthday banquet with eight dishes and eight bowls?”

Guan Tiantian explained, ”After my parents got married, they brought my grandfather to live with them. My mother really misses the taste of home, and I’m sure my grandfather does too. So I thought of giving him a surprise then.”

So that’s the reason.

However, he’s not officially employed yet!

According to the restaurant’s rules, he’s not qualified to take on door-to-door service jobs.

Tonight was only because Zhao Meng helped handle the situation.

Even if Zhao Meng didn’t mind and was willing to help.

But who knows if something unexpected might happen during the birthday banquet?

Fu Yu instinctively turned to look at Zhao Meng.

Zhao Meng rolled his eyes: Why are you looking at me?

Fu Yu: What should I do now?

Zhao Meng signaled with his eyes: Accept it! You’d be a fool not to make money! Hurry and accept!!!

Fu Yu: ”...”

Guan Tiantian finished speaking, but without Fu Yu’s response, she became a bit anxious.

”Chef Fu, don’t worry, I’ve already hired a professional event planning company to prepare the birthday banquet, so you don’t need to worry. All you have to do is arrange a family banquet for us when the time comes. How about that? Rest assured, the service fee will definitely be generous!”

Fu Yu kept a calm exterior while feeling equally anxious internally.

After all this conversation, why hadn’t the electronic task prompt sounded yet!!

He had to keep the conversation going: ”Miss Guan, when is your grandfather’s birthday, if I may ask?”

Guan Tiantian thought Fu Yu might be too busy, and quickly replied, ”Oh, my grandfather’s birthday isn’t now; it’s six months from now. I genuinely want to do a honorable birthday banquet for my grandfather.”

After saying that, fearing Fu Yu might decline the offer, she specifically committed: ”Chef Fu, rest assured, as long as you come cook a table of the eight dishes and eight bowls, my grandfather will surely be very satisfied! I have full confidence in your culinary skills!”

[Ding! NPC Glamorous Girl Guan Tiantian’s task: Prepare a birthday banquet for her 66-year-old grandfather in six months. Accept the task to receive the reward. Reward contents: One skill upgrade guide, one random prize, +666 task experience]

Ah!

Simply accepting the task grants a reward?

And such generous rewards at that!

Fu Yu quickly accepted the assignment.

He told Guan Tiantian, ”Since Miss Guan is so sincere, I’ll take this door-to-door service job.”

Guan Tiantian was overjoyed and eagerly said, ”Chef Fu, let’s add each other on WeChat? That way, I can contact you in advance.”

Fu Yu and Guan Tiantian added each other on WeChat.

Guan Tiantian casually transferred 1,000 yuan to Fu Yu.

Fu Yu glanced at his phone and quickly refused: ”Miss Guan, what’s this for...”

Guan Tiantian smiled and said, ”Chef Fu, this is the deposit for the birthday banquet, please do accept it.”
