The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Bowl of Noodles I’ve Dreamed Of

Fu Yu walked ahead holding the tray.

Wang Yuxuan followed behind, muttering, ”You can’t do it like this, at least add some crab, or prawns, right... A bowl of noodles costs 168, and you’re serving a bowl of plain noodle soup. The customer might report us to the price control bureau!”

Fu Yu: ”Hurry, open the door! The noodles will become a lump in a while.”

...

The sketch depicted just such a bowl of plain noodle soup.

A large round bowl filled with steaming hot noodles.

A thin layer of oil spots, a few shrimp skins, and a sprinkle of green onions floated on the clear, watery soup.

Wang Yuxuan knocked on the door, reminding aloud, ”Hello, the meal is ready!”

After saying that, she pushed open the private room door.

Following closely behind, Fu Yu took a deep breath, feeling a bit uneasy inside.

Although he was sure the bowl of plain noodle soup he made was almost exactly like the one in the sketch.

He still couldn’t be at ease.

Can it really work?

Is the Craftsmanship Badge reliable or not!

Compared to Fu Yu, Wang Yuxuan’s heart was even more in her throat.

If this thing really blows up, she’d definitely have to take the fall too.

Getting fired isn’t possible, but having her pay docked would be rough enough!

Catching a glimpse of Fu Yu’s calm face out of the corner of her eye, Wang Yuxuan only had one thought in her mind: Madman.

Fu Yu walked forward with the tray.

Xu Dan was a bit surprised, ”Cooked so quickly?”

Fu Yu nodded, ”Yeah, I did my best. Try it and see if it’s the taste.”

The young chef was very handsome, polite, and humble in manner, making it easy for people to have a good impression of him.

Xu Dan knew their request was a bit demanding.

After all, Su Ying’s description was confusing even for her, making no sense.

So, Xu Dan couldn’t help but say, ”Sous Chef, sorry to trouble you. Mainly, it’s the child who wants to eat it. It’s no big deal, even if the taste isn’t right. She’s just suddenly missing the bowl of noodles her grandma used to make.”

”Don’t worry, whether it tastes the same or not, we didn’t come here to cause trouble...”

Although Xu Dan spoke considerately, she actually had no hope at all for the bowl of noodles.

She thought after eating the noodles, she might as well take Su Ying to the dessert shop she likes and buy the little girl her favorite chocolate cake.

Kids are generally easy to please.

Fu Yu smiled, placing the tray on the table, ”I made it according to my understanding. Try it, and if it’s lacking, I’ll make another batch!”

Wang Yuxuan took the initiative to step forward and help the customer serve the noodle bowl.

A steaming bowl of noodles, along with two plates of delicate side dishes, was placed in front of Su Ying.

Su Ying’s beautiful peach blossom eyes widened in surprise, staring at the bowl of noodles before her.

Xu Dan leaned over, dumbfounded, and looked incredulously at Fu Yu.

What a simple bowl of noodles!

On the clear noodle soup floated specks of oil and some—uh—onion, and a bit of shrimp...turns out to be shrimp skin as a garnish...

Xu Dan couldn’t help but curse inwardly: How the ** does this count as seafood noodles? Is shrimp skin seafood?

Actually... it kind of is...

Beside her, Wang Yuxuan’s face turned pale. She looked in panic at the little customer, her heart about to leap out of her throat.

Aside from being a bit bland, it wasn’t that ugly, right?

How did it make the little girl cry?

Su Ying stared at the bowl of noodles, her eyes gradually turning red, and her clear, pretty eyes filling with tears.

Her tearful look left Wang Yuxuan feeling at a loss.

Oh no, oh no!!

This time, we’re really doomed!

...

...

Zhang’s Barbecue.

Located in the side street of Qianlima Restaurant.

With delicious flavors and fresh ingredients, the barbecue joint was bustling with business.

Sun Qingning had been having a rough few days at work, feeling repressed, and downing beer one glass after another as soon as it was served.

In the midst of drinking, his phone suddenly rang.

Sun Qingning picked it up casually and answered, ”Hello?”

”Hey, are you at the dorm?”

The sudden male voice made him pause.

Sun Qingning hesitated for a moment before realizing who the voice belonged to and quickly responded, ”Chef Zhao? No, no, I’m dining out. What’s, what’s up?”

Zhao Meng’s tone was a bit off, ”Oh, I was looking for Fu Yu, but that guy’s not answering his phone!”

Tipsy from the alcohol, Sun Qingning vaguely recalled that Fu Yu was probably cooking noodles.

So whatever popped into his head, he blurted out, ”Fu Yu should be working, didn’t hear the phone.”

”Working? It’s already after work hours, what work is he doing?” Zhao Meng was clearly skeptical.

Already a bit intimidated by Zhao Meng, Sun Qingning panicked upon hearing this, afraid Zhao Meng wouldn’t believe him, and hurriedly explained, ”The customer who ordered seafood noodles earlier complained about the taste and requested a redo. Fu Yu went to cook noodles again.”

Zhao Meng exploded over the line, ”What? He’s cooking noodles? Where’s Chef Gu?”

Sun Qingning replied sheepishly, ”After you and Chef Yao left, Chef Gu left too.”

”This is ridiculous!”

Zhao Meng hung up the phone immediately.

Holding his phone, Sun Qingning broke out in a cold sweat.

Nervous and fearful.

Oh no, just now in a panic, did he tell Zhao Meng he was dining out?

The restaurant had an issue, and he didn’t stay to help resolve it, yet here he was casually eating out.

What would Zhao Meng think of him?

Sigh, when a person is unlucky, even sipping cold water could choke them.

...

Su Ying, with reddened eyes, silently picked up the chopsticks and took a bite of the noodles.

The tears already pooling in her eyes instantly fell.

Xu Dan jumped, quickly asking, ”What’s the matter? If you don’t want to eat, then don’t. This noodles...”

Fu Yu also looked at Su Ying, unable to help himself from comparing it again to the sketch.

It matched perfectly, the clean, large bowl of steaming plain noodle soup.

If it was something Grandma made, it surely was a family staple. Simple, yes, but isn’t that how home-cooked meals are?

As he was thinking, Su Ying spoke tearfully, ”This, these noodles, are just like the ones my Grandma used to make. We have a bowl just like this at home, boo hoo...”

The little girl sobbed, wiping her eyes, and pitifully said to Xu Dan, ”I miss my Grandma, boo hoo...”

Fu Yu breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, since it’s the same, they should be satisfied now, right?

Su Ying sniffled and said, ”I’m very satisfied.”

Fu Yu couldn’t help but smile, thinking, if she’s satisfied, then eat it all up, so his trouble won’t be wasted.

Su Ying added, ”I’ll eat it all up; otherwise, the chef’s efforts will go to waste.”

Fu Yu: ”!”

Huh...

How come it feels like she can hear my thoughts?

A coincidence?

Suddenly, a thought struck Fu Yu.

The annotation of the Craftsmanship Badge seemed to say that as long as he was cooking autonomously, he’d have infinite creativity and the ability to perceive customer thoughts or evoke customer resonance.

Did he just evoke customer resonance?

This badge... is kind of amazing!

Indeed, I’m Heaven’s favored lucky person...
