Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 3039: Chapter 3048: Wanting Thanks After Taking Advantage

The sarcasm was sharp, tricky, and vicious.

Jeremy Payne was the first to lose it and laugh, then he deliberately covered his mouth and explained with a chuckle, ”Sorry, I couldn’t hold it in. I’m kind of curious what Sister Nicole’s heirloom is now...”

”You—” Nicole Oliver’s Manager’s face sank, and he glared at him fiercely.

Olivia Lewis hadn’t expected Jeremy to step up and openly speak for her. She shot him a ”you’re a real man” look, then waited for Nicole Oliver’s explanation.

Nicole Oliver’s Manager kept a cold face and snapped, ”What do you know! Nicole’s having dinner with the brand reps later, as the spokesperson she obviously should be wearing the necklace the brand gave her to show respect! Now the important necklace is broken. What’s wrong with us asking for compensation? So Ms. Lewis breaks other people’s stuff and somehow she’s still in the right?”

That justification was airtight.

Olivia Lewis didn’t want to keep arguing with them and held out her hand. ”Let me see the necklace.”

The Manager glanced at Nicole Oliver, and only after getting Nicole’s consent did he pass the box over. Olivia Lewis checked the diamond necklace inside, closed the box, and said, ”I’ve seen it. It’s just the platinum part that snapped. I’ll take it to be repaired for you and give it back next week.”

With this kind of top luxury brand, even just a repair would cost tens of thousands.

What Olivia Lewis meant was that she’d help the assistant pay for it.

The assistant’s heart warmed, she bit down on her lip. ”Sister Olivia, I... I’m sorry...”

She herself also realized she’d probably been set up and had dragged her artist down with her. But she really had no way to produce evidence to prove she’d been framed.

That made her feel even more guilty.

Olivia Lewis turned and patted the top of her head, coaxing her like a kid. ”It’s fine, it’s not a big deal. Don’t cry. You’re crying like this, people outside who don’t know the situation would think I yelled at you.”

The assistant quickly sniffed and forced back her tears. ”Sister Olivia would never yell at me, I just couldn’t hold it in myself...”

”Hey...” Seeing how miserably she was crying, Olivia Lewis walked over to grab a Tissue and handed it to her. ”Seriously, don’t cry anymore. What happened today has nothing to do with you.”

Nicole Oliver had targeted Olivia from the start; Daisy was just unlucky and got picked as the scapegoat.

Nicole Oliver’s Manager cut in at this point, drawing out his words, ”Next week? That might not be so convenient, right? This weekend Nicole has a red carpet event, she needs the necklace for that.”

After handing the Tissue to the assistant, Olivia Lewis turned her head, her fox eyes narrowing as her red lips parted. She said bluntly, ”So how exactly do you want to be compensated?”

Nicole Oliver’s Manager suppressed his delight and spoke as if he’d just remembered, ”I heard Young Master Sinclair previously gifted Ms. Lewis a necklace called the Star Lake’s Eye. How about this: before this one gets repaired, Ms. Lewis lends that necklace to help us out for the event. How’s that?”

”...” So that’s the scheme they’d cooked up.

She’d known Nicole Oliver wouldn’t just be looking to bully someone around her and squeeze some money out of her.

Nicole Oliver’s Manager put on the look of a magnanimous elder and said in a troubled tone, ”Originally this necklace is very important—Nicole needed it today too. But Ms. Lewis and Nicole were at least under the same company for quite a long time, and we don’t really want to make things too hard on Ms. Lewis’s people. This is already us taking a step back and making a compromise. If Ms. Lewis won’t agree, then we’ll have that assistant pay instead. This necklace is tied to Nicole’s new Endorsement, we’re not asking for much, she can just pay 450 thousand. And as for the brand side, we still have to give them an explanation. It’s really not easy for us either...”
