Alchemy Master

Chapter 38, Medicine Cauldron

All those with noble character have an unyielding spirit!

Liu Wen was like that.

After hearing his proud words, Zhou Tianwei’s expression changed, somewhat.

He did have knowledge of Liu Wen and his attitude on such matters. Especially his way of working. Who in the Alchemy world of the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty did not know about it?

The strictness of the Alchemy tests here had led many people to go to other cities to take the qualification test.

Many rich Young Masters and privileged Families would accumulate medicines to condense Divine Soul Beads. With guidance from famous Masters, they would barely be able to refine Pills.

For such people, their scores in the first and second stages of the qualification test were often very poor. They might not even pass.

At this time, in other cities, usually with some gifts, the test officials would turn a blind eye and let them pass. However, in the Alchemy Guild under Liu Wen’s jurisdiction, such things had never happened.

With such a history of integrity, Zhou Tianwei did not understand why Liu Wen would do such an absurd thing.

Perfect scores in all three tests was unprecedented in the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty, let alone for it to be accomplished by a young man who had yet to even condensed his Divine Soul Bead.

“Where is Qin Yichen? Call him here. I want to see what kind of extraordinary person he is!”

Zhou Tianwei coming here personally was more out of curiosity about this matter. If this happened in other cities, he could directly determine it was favouritism and fraud, without needing to investigate. He could directly issue a judgement for others but Liu Wen was different.

He wanted to see what was so special about that young man first.

“Special Envoy, you may not know but Qin Yichen was having a Pill Battle at the Li Family shop, so he probably can’t come right away.”

“Pill Battle?” Zhou Tianwei raised an eyebrow. [If it’s a Pill Battle, doesn’t that mean Qin Yichen can really refine Pills?]

“Yes.” Liu Wen nodded, knowing he had piqued his interest, then continued, “The person he was battling with was a First Grade Alchemy Master who had touched the threshold of Entry Realm. I was delayed in welcoming the Special Envoy because of this matter…”

“Oh, what was the result?”

“Qin Yichen… won, that First Grade Alchemy Master died from his Knowledge Sea shattering!” Saying this, Liu Wen’s eyes also revealed a hint of emotion and shock.

If Mo Yun had just defended his Knowledge Sea, Qin Yichen should not have been able to shatter his Knowledge Sea. However, it was a fact that Mo Yun had died under Qin Yichen’s hands.

“That’s impossible!” Zhou Tianwei blurted out. [This is getting more and more ridiculous! Even I would have to exert great effort against a First Grade Alchemy Master who has touched the threshold of Entry Realm. How could someone who had yet to even condensed his Divine Soul Bead possess the ability to do this?]

“If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it was true either.” Liu Wen sighed.

During Qin Yichen and Mo Yun’s Pill Battle, he happened to be in a teahouse opposite of the Li Family shop. He saw their battle very clearly.

However, to avoid suspicion and not get involved in Family power struggles, he chose not to intervene.

Because of this, he saw an even more terrifying side of Qin Yichen!

This young man’s high skill and deep schemes shocked him greatly.

It could be said that from the moment Qin Yichen appeared, Mo Yun was led by the nose. He led to him falling into a death spiral. Probably, only at the moment of his death, did Mo Yun understand how terrifying Qin Yichen was.

All those onlookers, seeing the end, were just completely confused. They were unable to fathom how terrifying Qin Yichen was. Since, in front of them, Qin Yichen had never displayed his true power.

“Where is he now?” Zhou Tianwei’s eyes kept darting around. He seemed to be getting impatient.

“Well…” Liu Wen shook his head with a bitter smile.

After seeing the result of the Pill Battle and hearing that an important figure had come to the Guild, he hurried back, not paying attention to Qin Yichen’s whereabouts.

*Knock knock…* Just as Liu Wen was thinking about whether to send someone to look for Qin Yichen, knocks came from the door.

“What is it?” Liu Wen frowned. Not just anyone could come up to the top floor of the Alchemy Guild.

“Grandfather, Qin Yichen is here. He says he wants to borrow the guild’s Medicine Cauldron to refine Pills, so I came to ask you…” Liu Qiong’er’s voice sounded from outside the door.

“Medicine Cauldron? He wants to use it to refine Pills?” Liu Wen was taken aback. [Qin Yichen wants to use the Medicine Cauldron to refine Pills?]

Medicine Cauldron.

Every Alchemy Guild had one.

Although the Medicine Cauldron was at least a Human Rank Pill Furnace, it was not used for Pill refining, but for Alchemist Apprentices to practise. Every day, countless medicinal herbs would be melted in that Medicine Cauldron.

Liu Wen could not figure out why Qin Yichen wanted to borrow the Medicine Cauldron to refine Pills.

“With his current status, has the Li Family not given him the All Encompassing Furnace to use?”

Liu Wen did not understand why he would request such a thing.

“Let him use it.” While he was still pondering, Zhou Tianwei spoke up, advising, “If he wants to use the Medicine Cauldron to refine Pills, that’s fine, but the Medicine Cauldron can’t leave the Guild. I want to see if he’s really as amazing as you say!”

“Then, I’ll go inform him.” Liu Wen walked to the door, gave some instructions to Liu Qiong’er, who just looked at Zhou Tianwei inside with surprise in her eyes. However, she did not say a word and left with small steps.

Borrowing the Medicine Cauldron was not a big deal. The Medicine Cauldron was communal, with nine openings. Thus, it allowed nine Alchemist Apprentices to practise simultaneously.

It was just that if it was to be used exclusively by Qin Yichen, it would inevitably inconvenience the other Alchemist Apprentices.

Liu Qiong’er was actually quite confused, not understanding what Qin Yichen wanted to do. However, she still led Qin Yichen to the Alchemy Room where the Medicine Cauldron was kept.

This room was very large, with dozens of Alchemist Apprentices inside. They were all very young, unable to consistently succeed in refining Medicinal Liquid. What they were learning now was weighing medicines, then throwing the medicinal herbs into the Medicine Cauldron, trying to extract Medicinal Liquid.

“Ennnn…” As soon as he entered the room and smelled the strong medicinal fragrance, Qin Yichen raised his eyebrows. Especially when his gaze fell on a huge Medicine Cauldron, a smile that no one could understand appeared.

[The Medicine Cauldron. It really isn’t suitable for refining Pills. But, that’s mainly because it’s too big. Even for a First Grade Alchemy Master, if they used the Medicine Cauldron to refine Pills, it was uncertain if they could succeed. Most of the time, the Grade of the Pills would drop significantly.]

However, this seemingly useless Medicine Cauldron contained what Qin Yichen urgently needed now, Medicinal properties!

The Medicine Cauldron in every Alchemy Guild branch had existed since the day the branch was established.

The Spreading Cloud City Alchemy Guild already had several hundred years of history. During these hundreds of years, every day, many Alchemist Apprentices would use this Medicine Cauldron to practise.

Each time, they would leave some medicinal properties in the Medicine Cauldron. Over time, the medicinal properties in this Medicine Cauldron had accumulated to an absurd amount.

These so-called medicinal properties were useless in everyone’s eyes because they were too mixed, containing properties of all kinds of medicines, and completely unusable. However, for Qin Yichen’s small Pill Furnace, these medicinal properties were the great nourishing it needed!
