Alchemy Master

Chapter 28, Discarded Furnace

Translator: Silavin

Pill Furnaces came in various sizes, mainly depending on personal preference. However, the Pill Furnace in front of Qin Yichen was particularly small. Furthermore, its appearance was very ordinary. Coupled with a thick layer of dust on it, it looked even more unremarkable.

Moreover, if one opened the lid, one could see a spider web-like crack at the bottom of the Pill Furnace. Although it had not caused the entire bottom to split open, it was clear that this Pill Furnace had experienced an explosion before.

No one knew who had discarded this Pill Furnace here. The guild seemed to have no records of it.

The Elder who brought Qin Yichen here, seeing him linger in front of this Pill Furnace for a long time, frowned and could not help but remind him, “Young Friend, the thing in front of you is a discarded furnace.”

“Discarded furnace?” Qin Yichen looked at him, seeming to not understand.

“That’s right, a discarded furnace.”

The Elder stroked his long beard and continued, “The guild once used this Pill Furnace for apprentices to practise extracting Medicinal Liquid, but unexpectedly, the Medicinal Liquid produced from this furnace was always several Grades lower in quality compared to normal furnaces. It’s probably due to the crack at the bottom of the furnace. So, Young Friend, you’d better look at others.”

[Of course it would be several Grades lower.] Qin Yichen said in his heart, but a faint smile still leaked out. Only he, the owner who had used this Pill Furnace, knew its secret.

The reason why the Medicinal Liquid, or even Pills, refined using this Pill Furnace were several Grades lower in potency compared to those refined in other furnaces was because… this Pill Furnace would absorb the medicinal properties!

Qin Yichen’s initial choice of this Pill Furnace was actually unintentional. Back then, after becoming an Alchemy Master, he came here to choose a Pill Furnace. Just as he happened to walk to this spot, he heard Li Lingyan urging him, so he casually took this small Pill Furnace.

Who knew that this small accident would bring him such a great opportunity?

Although this Pill Furnace would absorb medicinal properties and thus lower the quality of Medicinal Liquid and Pills, it had an extremely Heaven defying function, which was… it would improve its own Grade!

Through Qin Yichen’s observation, he also understood that the reason this Pill Furnace absorbed medicinal properties was actually to self-repair, specifically to repair the crack at the bottom of the furnace.

Qin Yichen did not know how that crack was formed. He had experienced countless furnace explosions in his years of Pill refining, but this Pill Furnace still remained intact. Moreover, until the end, this furnace had not fully repaired itself. Thus, even he could not clearly say what Grade this Pill Furnace originally was.

“It’s quite small and delicate, I’ll take this one.” Qin Yichen smiled at the Elder, blew off the dust on the Pill Furnace, and took it in his hand.

At this moment, he finally felt relieved.

“Well… as you wish.” Although the Elder was stunned for a moment, he quickly reacted. The young man before him came with Li Yuanba, so how could he really lack usable Pill Furnaces?

“Thank you.” After expressing his gratitude, Qin Yichen took the Pill Furnace and left the Alchemy Guild with Li Yuanba.

He knew that to receive the Medal, he would have to wait for some time. However, that thing was not important to him at all. It did not matter whether he had it or not. What he cared about was this Pill Furnace in his hand.

“Haha, Little Brother, how was it? You passed the test, right?”

As soon as he entered the Li Family mansion, Li Yuanfei and Ran Rui walked out of the great hall, asking with smiles on their faces.

“Barely passed.” Qin Yichen waved the Pill Furnace in his hand, seemingly to show off. However, the two of them could not understand why he did it nor cared about the Pill Furnace in his hand.

“You really passed?” Ran Rui stepped forward, seeming incredulous by this news.

He thought Qin Yichen was just going to try his hand. He did not think that Qin Yichen had absolute confidence before going to the Alchemy Guild! Much less pass the test.

“Good! Good!” Li Yuanfei’s face was full of joy. He was very clear about Qin Yichen’s situation. Sixteen years old, without condensing his Divine Soul Bead, yet already able to refine Pills. This kind of talent, even in the entire country, was only comparable to the one called a freak of nature, the country’s number one Alchemy Master – Gu Ye!

His Li Family was fortunate enough to be on good terms with him. It was truly a great blessing.

Now, it seemed that Qin Yichen was relying on their Li Family. However, in the future, who the big tree would be has yet to be determined.

What Li Yuanfei could not understand was why Qin Yichen chose their Li Family.

“Master Li, Grandmaster Ran, if there’s nothing else, then Yichen will go ahead and have a rest first.”

After standing for just this short while, perhaps due to the depletion of his Knowledge Sea, Qin Yichen seemed to sway again. His complexion looking unwell.

“Oh. Go rest, go rest quickly.”

Li Yuanfei and Ran Rui also noticed the abnormality and asked Li Yuanba to escort him.

However, seeing Li Yuanba’s nervous and protective demeanour towards him made Li Yuanfei feel a bit sour inside.

Although his Second Brother listened to him, he had never cared about him like this. But he took great care of Qin Yichen, an outsider, following him everywhere. It was as if he was afraid that Qin Yichen might encounter some kind of accident.

However, what Li Yuanfei did not know was that what Li Yuanba cared about was not Qin Yichen himself, but the Overlord Hammer Martial Technique in Qin Yichen’s possession.

If something happened to Qin Yichen, who would he ask for his Martial Arts Cultivation Technique? Naturally, he was nervous about Qin Yichen’s well-being.

After resting for an entire night, the feeling of exhaustion and fatigue disappeared by the next morning. This was all thanks to the Spirit God Technique.

After finishing his morning practice of the Nameless Cultivation Technique, Qin Yichen returned to his room.

“To refine the Sirius Pill, It needs to eat a bit more…” Taking out the small Pill Furnace, Qin Yichen thought pensively.

In its current state, this furnace was probably not even as good as an Ordinary Pill Furnace. Thus, it must absorb a large amount of medicinal properties to restore some of its functions.

As for how to absorb medicinal properties…

He thought the Li Family’s Alchemy Room would be good. Even if it would absorb a lot of medicinal properties, he was still confident that he could make each batch of Medicinal Liquid reach the Fourth or Fifth Grade.

Pill refining?

He had no such plans now. Yesterday, he had only refined a most ordinary Qi Recovery Pill. That alone had already left him unable to do anything for an entire day. So, before condensing his Divine Soul Bead, he did not plan to refine Pills again.

With these thoughts, Qin Yichen got up and walked towards the Li Family’s Alchemy Room.

“Eh, why are there so few people today?” Arriving at the Alchemy Room building, Qin Yichen went up to the second floor and saw only a few scattered Alchemist Assistants. He could not help but feel puzzled.

The path of Alchemy emphasises diligent practice. Thus, these people should not be slacking off.

“It’s because someone is challenging our Li Family’s Alchemy Masters in our Li Family’s shop, so they all went to watch the excitement.”

An Alchemist Assistant not far away quickly explained upon hearing his question.
