Alchemy Master

Chapter 32, Malicious Thoughts

Translator: Silavin

A Pill Battle was extremely dangerous. Alchemy Masters, each with a noble status, were above ordinary people. Under normal circumstances, no one would be willing to have a Pill Battle with another. Unless, there was some deep seated hatred between them.

A Pill Battle would undoubtedly be extremely exciting, which made all these onlookers immensely interested.

“You two, choose your own materials,” Ye Liangchen said, squinting his eyes, clearly in the role of a notary, to Qin Yichen and Mo Yun.

“Ten year old Lingzhi, Spirit Heart Grass, Withered Fire Vine…” Mo Yun listed out the materials he needed one by one.

However, this made many Alchemist Assistants tremble in their hearts. Because the materials Mo Yun listed out were for a First Grade Pill, the Berserk Pill.

“Could it be that the Lin Family is about to produce another Alchemy Grandmaster?”

The Berserk Pill was one of the Lin Family’s trump card formulas. Only Alchemy Masters with Spiritual Energy attainment approaching the Entry Realm had a certain chance of successfully refining it. Every year, relying on this Berserk Pill alone had brought huge profits to the Lin Family.

However, because this Berserk Pill could only be refined by the Lin Family’s Chief Alchemist and could not be mass-produced, its influence was still limited.

Under the shocked gazes of everyone, Mo Yun looked at Qin Yichen provocatively.

Despite his arrogance, this move of his was also a preparation for absolute victory. Because even if he failed to refine the Pill due to Qin Yichen’s interference, what he would produce would still be Beserk Medicinal Liquid, which was incomparable to ordinary Medicinal Liquid. This was unless Qin Yichen could refine Medicinal Liquid of the same level as Beserk Medicinal Liquid.

“Give me the same materials,” Qin Yichen said calmly, ignoring his provocation.

“What do you want?” Not to mention others, even Fatty Ye was genuinely stunned for a moment.

“Haha… he wants the same materials.”

“It’s really laughable. Doesn’t he know that even with the same materials, without the formula, it’s impossible to successfully refine it?”

Countless laughter erupted in the shop.

The Li Family’s Alchemist Assistants were also stunned, not knowing what to say. Qin Yichen’s move was too rash.

“Just go and prepare them!” Qin Yichen gave Li Lingyan a look of reassurance.

Although she did not know what he was up to, Li Lingyan still chose to trust him.

In a few minutes, someone brought over the materials. After a brief check, Ye Liangchen gave the materials to Qin Yichen and Mo Yun.

“Ignorant boy, I’ll let you know the price of provoking me, Mo Yun!” As he spoke, the Lin Family people brought a Pill Furnace and placed it in front of Mo Yun.

This Pill Furnace was about one metre tall, entirely green, with carved flowers all over its surface, like mysterious runes. On its front, there was a pattern that looked like an picture.

At first glance, it was clearly no ordinary object.

“The Bronze Flower Carved Furnace!”

Someone recognized this Pill Furnace and immediately exclaimed.

“This is a Lin Family’s treasured heirloom. It’s a Human Rank High Grade Pill Furnace. It’s said to be comparable to an Earth Rank Pill Furnace!”

“I didn’t expect the Lin Family to bestow this Pill Furnace on Mo Yun.”

“Ahhh… with Mo Yun’s strength with this Bronze Flower Furnace added, it’s like a tiger growing wings. He might really be able to refine a Berserk Pill!”

The onlookers’ eyes all showed shock and envy. This Bronze Flower Furnace was one of the most famous Pill Furnaces in Spreading Cloud City.

“This is bad!” When Li Lingyan saw this Pill Furnace, her pretty face immediately turned ashen. She never imagined that the Lin Family would bring out this treasure. It seemed that the Lin Family had been planning this for a long time!

Qin Yichen just glanced at it calmly, his expression not changing much. He soon took out his own Pill Furnace.

Compared to the Bronze Flower Furnace, the Pill Furnace in his hand looked too shabby. It was not even as big as two palms, and its appearance was very ordinary. There was nothing eye catching about it. Especially its dull grey colour, which made it look like something discarded and unwanted.

“Pfft… What’s that thing? Can that even be called a Pill Furnace?”

Lin Shiyun burst out laughing, his mockery full on display. “*Tsk tsk tsk*, the Li Family is really poor huh? To bring out such a useless Pill Furnace.”

“Doesn’t the Li Family have the All Encompassing Furnace that can rival the Bronze Flower Furnace? Why don’t we see the Li Family bring it out?”

“It’s said that the Li Family’s All Encompassing Furnace was given to Xiao Licheng to use. Now that he’s nowhere to be seen, where can they find the All Encompassing Furnace?”

“This kid probably has given up hope, asking for Berserk Pill materials and then bringing out this discarded furnace… I really don’t know why Li Lingyan trusts him so much.”

From the current performance of both sides, the outcome seemed obvious.

“Then, let’s begin.”

Fatty Ye was very interested in Qin Yichen’s unusual behaviour. He was even a bit impatient to see how Qin Yichen would turn the tables.

As soon as he announced the start, Mo Yun discreetly weighed out the materials one by one, then put each medicinal herb into the Pill Furnace in a particular order.

The charcoal under the Bronze Flower Furnace suddenly burst into flames. Mo Yun’s hands were also placed on top of the Pill Furnace, slowly waving, his movements very smooth. He was obviously extremely familiar with these steps.

“Impressive.”

“Worthy of being the top young Alchemy Master in our Spreading Cloud City.”

“Given time, Mo Yun will definitely become Spreading Cloud City’s number one Alchemy Grandmaster!”

Cheers rang out from all around. Obviously, almost everyone was more optimistic about Mo Yun.

The Berserk Pill was already close to being a Peak First Grade Pill close to a Second Grade Pill. Its refining difficulty was quite high. Without considerable attainment in Spiritual Energy, one careless move and the medicinal herbs in the Pill Furnace would conflict due to their fierce properties. Thus, even with the help of the Bronze Flower Furnace, Mo Yun still needed to be very careful.

Looking at Qin Yichen’s side, he seemed to have really given up. He did not even weigh the medicinal herbs placed in front of him. He just grabbed them and stuffed them randomly into the Pill Furnace.

“Unable to cheat in public, so wanting to surrender? How laughable!” Lin Shiyun stared at Qin Yichen’s every move with a sinister gaze, a cruel smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

As both of them had put their medicinal herbs into the Pill Furnaces, the onlookers’ minds all tensed up, because everyone knew that the refining was about to begin. This was also when the Pill Battle was about to start.

However, half a moment passed, and both were still refining on their own, showing no sign of wanting to make a move.

“What’s going on? Did Mo Yun accept that kid was too weak and decide to let him off?”

Seeing Mo Yun’s lack of action, many people started to speculate.

[Let him off? Ha!] Lin Shiyun sneered in his heart, narrowing his eyes. “When that kid’s mind is immersed in Pill refining, Mo Yun will destroy his Spiritual Energy and Pills together, making him completely useless!”
