Alchemy Master

Chapter 5, Returning Late

“I dare not accept such honour…” Lin Aotian’s face was covered in sweat, thinking he had offended these two in some way.

He had no talent in Alchemy at all. He only knew a few formulas. In fact, he could only concoct some common Medicinal Liquids to maintain his Family.

“Master Lin, this is the situation. We want to purchase the formula of the improved Qi Recovery Liquid from your Lin Family. Is that possible?” This was the first time Li Hu, the manager of Treasure Pavilion, had ever been so cautious and solemn when dealing with someone.

“The formula for the improved Qi Recovery Liquid?” Lin Aotian and Qin Haoran looked at each other, both completely bewildered. They simply did not understand what these two were talking about.

“Rest assured, Master Lin, my Treasure Pavilion will definitely offer you an appropriate price!” Their lack of reaction made Li Hu uneasy.

As someone from Treasure Pavilion, he was too clear about the importance of that formula. As long as he could obtain the formula, he had hopes of being transferred back to the Province’s Capital City by headquarters.

“This… Manager Li, I don’t quite understand. What is it that you want? As for Qi Recovery Liquid, these are what I concocted this morning…” Lin Aotian asked while in a daze. He pointed to the Qi Recovery Liquids on the medicine shelf as he spoke.

Upon hearing this, Cai Xinhuan picked up a bottle and took a brief whiff. He instantly frowned. He took out a bottle of the Qi Recovery Liquid concocted by Qin Yichen and asked, “This bottle of Qi Recovery Liquid, wasn’t it made by you?”

Lin Aotian shook his head.

Just from the clarity of this liquid, it was obvious that it wasn’t something he could ever have concoct.

Instantly, Li Hu and Cai Xinhuan looked at each other, and the room fell into an eerie silence.

According to their observation, Lin Aotian definitely was not lying to them, which meant this improved Qi Recovery Liquid was truly not concocted by him.

Then who could have concocted it?

“Could it be that he was playing with me?” Li Hu fell into doubt.

Indeed, that kind of Heaven-defying formula couldn’t possibly appear in such a small Medicine Shop.

It was just that when he thought of Qin Yichen and Lin Miaohan’s attire at the time, it was obvious that they also didn’t come from an extremely wealthy and noble Family. If she was a Young Mistress from a major Family, how could she not have a single decent piece of jewellery?

“Then, is there anyone else in your residence who concocts Medicinal Liquids?” Li Hu asked, unwilling to give up.

“Well… to be honest, because they are just basic Medicinal Liquids, my Daughter also often assists me in concocting them…”

This questioning made Lin Aotian a bit uneasy, thinking that something was wrong with the Medicinal Liquids and they had come to find fault.

“Oh?” Instantly, a gleam appeared in Li Hu’s eyes. He then described Lin Miaohan’s attire, age, and appearance.

“Yes, that is indeed my Daughter.” After much hesitation, seeing that they didn’t bring any guards and were not here to cause trouble, Lin Aotian nodded and admitted it. Nevertheless, he still felt apprehensive.

Li Hu took a deep breath and nodded at Cai Xinhuan before continuing to ask, “Then where is your esteemed Daughter now?”

As long as he could find Lin Miaohan, he believed everything would become clear.

What left the deepest impression on him was the youth standing beside Lin Miaohan. During their first meeting, the youth remained completely unfazed. He even dared to make a big counter offer. Looking at the smile on that youth’s face, Li Hu had the feeling of being seen through by that youth.

He in fact believes this improved Qi Recovery Liquid most likely had a direct relation to that youth rather than the Daughter.

Afterwards, Lin Aotian could only temporarily close the Medicine Shop and bring these two big shots to the Lin Family Mansion, along with Qin Haoran.

The Lin Family just had a slightly larger courtyard. In the courtyard, a few women were doing some needlework, chattering and gossiping about who knows what.

Qin Yichen’s Mother and Lin Miaohan’s Mother were among them, but at this time, both of them seemed worried. It was especially when they saw their own Husbands return so early.

Both of them stood up.

“Where is Miaohan?” Lin Aotian asked.

“Miaohan and Xiao Chen went out and haven’t returned yet… What’s going on?” Lin Miaohan’s Mother answered. When she saw the two people in luxurious attire behind their Husbands, she seemed a bit flustered and panicked.

“It’s nothing, you don’t need to worry too much.”After comforting her, Lin Aotian led the two into the main hall.

Upon hearing that the two had gone out together, Li Hu became even more certain of his guess, and couldn’t help feeling excited.

However, since Lin Miaohan and Qin Yichen still hadn’t returned, they could only wait. During their chat, Li Hu intentionally or unintentionally inquired about Qin Yichen’s situation.

It wasn’t until it was close to dusk that Qin Yichen and Lin Miaohan returned to the Lin Family.

After shopping with Qin Yichen for a day, over two hundred of the three hundred silver coins they got had been spent. To be precise, Qin Yichen had forcefully bought her some small pieces of jewellery. Although she felt distressed about spending so much, looking at the beautiful and shiny jewellery in her hands, Lin Miaohan couldn’t let go of them.

“Chen’er.”

“You foolish girl.”

As soon as they entered, the two Mothers came to greet them, telling them that two big shots had been waiting for them in the main hall.

“Oh?” Qin Yichen didn’t expect Li Hu to be in such a hurry. After comforting his Mother, Du Binglan, with a few words, telling her to not worry, he walked into the main hall with Lin Miaohan.

“Little Brother, we meet again.” Seeing Qin Yichen enter, Li Hu stood up, feeling greatly relieved. [We finally found them!]

As for Cai Xinhuan, he immediately frowned.

The two were too young and looked too ordinary. They did not seem to be anything special.

[Could these two kids really have concocted a Sixth Grade Medicinal Liquid? I doubt it.] As an Alchemist, he had never concocted a Sixth Grade Medicinal Liquid either. At most, it was Fifth Grade. So, how could these children, wet behind their ears, be able to concoct a Sixth Grade Medicinal Liquid?

“Miao’er, how did you obtain that Medicinal Liquid?” Lin Aotian was also curious, so he directly asked Lin Miaohan.

After chatting for the whole afternoon with those two from Treasure Pavillion, he finally knew what his Daughter and Qin Yichen had done.

A Sixth Grade Medicinal Liquid.

He naturally also understood what it represented.

“Yichen concocted it.” Lin Miaohan blinked with her big eyes and truthfully answered.

With those words, instantly, all the gazes gathered on Qin Yichen. Those pairs of eyes were filled with shock and disbelief.

In response, Qin Yichen could only helplessly rub his nose.

Originally, he still wanted to hide it. After all, revealing one’s edge was not a good thing. At least, not for him.

“Don’t talk nonsense. How could my Chen’er have such an ability?” After reeling in from the shock, Qin Haoran shook his head.

He was clear about his own Son. Although he was very clever, if one said he could concoct a Sixth Grade Medicinal Liquid, that would be an absolute impossibility.

Like Qin Haoran, everyone was full of doubt.

“I saw with my own eyes how he concocted it!” Seeing how they did not believe her, Lin Miaohan’s pretty face flushed red. She then recounted everything that happened in the Alchemy Room, one by one.

She saw the Elders before her and those two big shots opened their mouths, unable to close them again…
