Alchemy Master

Chapter 27, Prodigy

Translator: Silavin

A sixteen-year-old boy, without condensing a Divine Soul Bead, refining a Third Grade Pill!

This was something absolutely no one would believe.

In the testing hall, almost everyone thought this way.

However, what puzzled them was, with Liu Qiong’er supervising and the test official present, could it be that the Li Family had bribed them all?

That should be impossible!

Although people like Lin Shiyun knew that Liu Wen and the Li Family’s Chief Alchemist Ran Rui were friends, this had nothing to do with the Li Family. Liu Wen never associated with the Li Family. He only associated with Ran Rui, mostly when the latter came to discuss some Alchemy issues, where he would bring Li Lingyan, the Li Family’s Young Mistress. This was how Li Lingyan and Liu Qiong’er became close friends.

It was possible that Liu Wen did not know about this, and it was Liu Qiong’er alone doing a favour for Li Lingyan of the Li Family.

Thinking of this, Lin Shiyun’s gaze towards Qin Yichen became even more envious and hateful. At the same time, he also incited the people around him to make a fuss.

“Guildmaster Liu Wen, there must be something fishy about this.”

“A young brat who hasn’t even condensed his Divine Soul Bead being able to refine a Third Grade Pill, it’s simply a joke!”

Faced with these accusations and criticisms, Qin Yichen did not react much. He remained calm throughout. However, the test official’s face had turned red from holding back.

If they were suspicious of the result, did that not mean they were accusing him of favouritism and fraud?

“Silence!” Liu Wen spoke up. After closing the box, he turned around and coldly swept his gaze over them. Once the scene quieted down, he said, “All of you, withdraw. If anyone feels they can’t stay in my Guild, they can leave at any time!”

With one sentence, he intimidated everyone. Although some were dissatisfied, they did not dare to be the first to speak out.

Who was Liu Wen?

Even the Patriarchs of the three Major Families had to be polite to him, and who were they? If they offended Liu Wen, probably before Liu Wen could even speak, their own Elders would definitely not let them off.

“Guild…” Lin Shiyun wanted to say something, but was pulled away by his companions, leaving the testing hall together.

“Congratulations, you have become a qualified Alchemy Master. From now on, you are an Alchemy Master!” After these people left, Liu Wen said to Qin Yichen with a faint smile.

“Thank you, Guildmaster, for giving this Junior the opportunity to take this test.” Qin Yichen bowed to him.

“En.” Seeing him so polite, not at all proud of his achievement, Liu Wen nodded. He soon spoke to the Elder supervising the whole test, “Take him to get a Pill Furnace, I’ll go to apply for his Medal from headquarters.”

The Alchemy Master Medal was the symbol of an Alchemy Master, and only the Royal City Alchemy Guild had the right to issue it.

“Yes!” The Elder nodded, then said to Qin Yichen, “Follow me.”

“I’ll be right back.” After saying goodbye to Li Yuanba, Qin Yichen followed the Elder out.

“Qiong’er, what do you think?” After he left, Liu Wen turned to Liu Qiong’er, who was still in shock and had not come back to her senses.

“Grandfather, he…” Liu Qiong’er thought for a moment, then said frankly, “Qiong’er feels that in terms of Pill refining and Spiritual Energy control, he surpasses even you, Grandfather.”

“Indeed, it seems Old Ran wasn’t just talking nonsense.” Liu Wen really had not expected what Ran Rui told him turned out to be true. [No wonder when Ran Rui mentioned this young man, he actually calls him Grandmaster!]

“A prodigy, truly a prodigy!” After praising a few times, Liu Wen strode away.

Here, the only person who remained calm throughout was probably the brute Li Yuanba. It seemed he was not interested in these things. The only thing that could probably get him excited was the Overlord Hammer Martial Technique in Qin Yichen’s hands.

…

After Lin Shiyun and others were driven out by Liu Wen, Lin Shiyun became even more disgruntled.

“What a joke! Him!? That young brat can refine a Third Grade Pill!?”

“That’s simply nonsense! Who does he think he is!? How can he be better than Grandmaster Gu Ye!?”

“Just what are the test officials and the Guildmaster up to? Have they really been bought by the Li Family?”

Those close to Lin Shiyun were all discussing. Although they were suspicious, their words clearly showed an intention to please Lin Shiyun.

“Hmph!” Lin Shiyun’s face was dark as he coldly snorted, his eyes flickering.

Since Liu Wen, the Guildmaster, had not taken a stance, no matter how much fuss they made, it would be in vain.

“Even if that kid bribed the test officials, he forgot one thing… he can’t bribe the Royal City Alchemy Guild!” Lin Shiyun seemed to think of something and said to a man beside him, “Wu Wen, I heard your Uncle is in the Royal City Alchemy Guild?”

“Yeah.” The man named Wu Wen nodded.

“Then it’s easy to handle.” Lin Shiyun raised an eyebrow and said, “I guess Guildmaster Liu Wen won’t report the details of the test to headquarters. Although it’s rare to see a sixteen year old become an Alchemy Master, maybe once in a hundred years, this is too far-fetched… if those at headquarters learn that this genius is not only sixteen years old, but hasn’t even condensed a Divine Soul Bead, and managed to refine a Third Grade Pill in such a short amount of time, I wonder what the President of the Alchemy Guild would think?”

In the end, he still suspected that Liu Wen had been bought.

However, hearing him say this, everyone thought it made sense. Wu Wen was particularly quick to understand and hurriedly left, obviously going to send a message to his Uncle.

“Hmph!” A sharp glint flashed in Lin Shiyun’s eyes as he muttered, “I want to see how the Li Family and Liu Wen will move when headquarters starts investigating!”

If Liu Wen really committed fraud, then he would not be able to continue as Guildmaster.

…

Qin Yichen followed the Elder to the Pill Furnace Pavilion within the Alchemy Guild.

Here, there were Pill Furnaces of all kinds, of various Grades.

There were Pill Furnaces custom-made for the Alchemy Guild, as well as many donated by Alchemy Masters who no longer used them. Naturally, there were also those left behind by some old predecessors of the Alchemy Guild after they passed away.

However, generally speaking, the Grade of the Pill Furnaces here were not high. If one was lucky enough to pick a Human Grade Pill Furnace, they would probably wake up laughing from such a dream.

Moreover, if one truly became an Alchemy Master, even if they came from a humble background, they would definitely be treated as honoured guests by the Major Families in the city. They would naturally not be lacking good Pill Furnaces. Therefore, there were not really many who would come here to seriously choose a Pill Furnace.

After entering, Qin Yichen did not directly walk towards the Pill Furnace he wanted, but slowly observed, occasionally tapping and knocking, as if carefully selecting.

Finally, a Pill Furnace not much bigger than a palm appeared before his eyes. A flash of excitement immediately appeared in his eyes.

This was exactly the Pill Furnace he was looking for!
