THE GOD EATER

The skeleton that fell was lying on the ground in a position that made it easy to step on, but none of the skeletons stepped on it. All of them bypassed it and gave it room to recover.

However, none of them helped the skeleton up. This made Loki say to himself, ’It seems she can’t control the skeletons directly. It should be her Life Ability that is doing all of the work for her. She only needs to give it an order for it to execute, and it would do the rest.’

’Maybe the death cultivator herself isn’t aware that I am hijacking the mind of one of her skeletons. If she did, the other skeletons should be helping the one on the ground now.’

’Anyway, I refuse to believe that she can control all ten million skeletons as easily as she controls her arms. Even enslavement cultivators can’t do that.’

At this point, he deactivated the Mind Freeze Metac, which allowed the skeleton to move again.

The first thing the skeleton chose to do was stand up. It was in the middle of pushing itself up when all 15 Mind Bombs in its mind exploded.

When the explosion happened, the black flame in the eyes of the skeleton dimmed and disappeared. Then the skeleton slumped to the ground and didn’t stand back up.

This time, the skeletons around didn’t notice the skeleton as part of them anymore. So they stopped giving it space and began to walk over it on their way to reach him.

When Loki saw this, his eyes lit up, and he said excitedly, ’Time for the big fish.’

By big fish, he was referring to the undead giant. This is what he targeted next with the squirrel.

At this time, the black crows in the sky still hadn’t noticed that one of them had died. He suspected that this was because plenty of them were constantly dying to his gunfire and because all of the death cultivator’s attention was on him.

However, he wasn’t willing to see how long it would take the death cultivator to realize that he had cut off her control over one of her skeletons. So his attempt to reach the mind of the giant undead was somewhat rushed.

He knew that he was rushing things, but since he had a backup in case something went wrong, which was to blow up the mind of the squirrel with the Mind Bomb that he had planted earlier, he felt that he could risk it.

If he had used his mind to stage the attacks directly, he would have had to be more careful of the backlash of failure. There was also the fact that the death cultivator would have noticed that his mind was up to no good.

Since he was using the mind of the squirrel as the base of his attack, he felt that he could be reckless. And since his test plan had already worked, he felt confident that the real plan would also work.

As it turned out, he was right to be confident. This was because after the Mind Freeze Metac took effect, the giant undead began to fall.

But he couldn’t celebrate yet because the cloud of black crows noticed the change in the undead giant. They stopped bothering with Loki and rushed over to help the undead giant.

Only a scant few black crows remained in the sky around him. These six black crows didn’t attack him like earlier. They only circled him and watched him with intense vigilance.

One of the black crows said to him, “What did you do?”

But Loki laughed and said, “Are you feeling the pain now after losing so many crows? You’d better give up now, or I will make you lose more.”

The death didn’t care about the deaths of the cows since they were losses in energy, not something serious and irreparable. What it was most concerned about now was the loss of control of its most prized possession.

So it said to Loki, “I’m talking about what you did to my undead.”

Loki replied, “Isn’t it clear? We are ganging up on you.”

As he said this, he detonated the 20 Mind Bombs that he had planted in the mind of the undead giant. Then he turned around and opened fire on the army of undead.

His actions caused the black flame and the black cloak around the undead giant to go out as if snuffed out by the wind. Then his subsequent actions of throwing balls of red lightning into the army of skeletons caused many more losses to the death cultivator.

He had been brewing the bombs of red lightning for a long time and had compressed a lot of energy into them, so the range of the explosion was very high. With just one round of attack, the two balls of red lightning destroyed about 10,000 of the army of skeletons.

This made him nod in satisfaction and say, “So about 0.1% eliminated. About 999 more attacks like that, and I will clear out this army of skeletons. Let’s see who’s laughing then.”

Now that the situation had turned around, he was in a good mood. Even without destroying the whole army, he was already laughing as he flew around, shooting skeletons down with Gatling guns or throwing explosive balls of lightning into their midst.

However, even though he was celebrating, he didn’t let his joy get to his head because the battle hadn’t been won yet. He still remembered vividly how the death cultivator had turned the tide last time, so he was paying attention to the giant undead to make sure that it was down for good.

His vigilance seemed to pay off because he saw a black crow sink into the skull of the undead giant. Then black flames lit up in the eyes of the undead giant, and it began to push itself up.

This sight made Loki say, ’Damn it.’
