THE GOD EATER

Every year, exams are held to test the mastery of the cultivators. Those who achieve a certain level of excellence are rewarded with Dao Status befitting their level of excellence.

So Dao Status isn’t earned based on power. It is why the third rank 5 cultivator from their sect doesn’t possess a Level 5 Dao Status and why that rank 5 cultivator isn’t as respected as the rank 4 cultivator with Level 5 Dao Status.

This is one of the reasons why the disciples of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect are weaker in fighting than the disciples of the youngest sect. But their intelligence is not to be underestimated at all.

This situation is an example of a situation where they are using their superior intelligence to defeat those who are stronger than they are. They picked a location close to a place where many inhabitants of this world are dying and plan to take advantage of the situation to kill everyone and be victorious in this Heavenly Battlefield.

Loki discovered all of these in the mind of a disciple of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect. He confirmed it again after he hijacked the mind of the next disciple that came his way.

The more he discovered, the more impressive the plan of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect became. Even if he wasn’t impressed with their plan, he had to admit that the power of that rank 5 cultivator couldn’t be underestimated.

So he sighed and said, “Fortunately, I went to call for help. Even if we can’t destroy their array, we should be able to make sure that they don’t take advantage of us.”

The bird that he sent had already reached the city. By this time, he could finally see who was fighting. Both sides were identical in appearance.

The only difference between the two sides was that the eyes of the people on one side were completely black, and they had various wounds all over their bodies that should have killed them.

These people were the inhabitants of this small world. They are humanoid birds that look like feathered humans. They had arms and legs like humans, but they also had wings on their backs and a long beak on their faces.

In general, they are called beast people. But to be specific, they are called bird people.

The whole city is full of bird people, and there is no human in sight. There are only millions of bird people in the city with feathers of various colors.

These bird people are fighting each other now. They seem to have turned on each other, and we’re fighting each other to the death.

Just from observing the way both sides were fighting, he knew who the culprit behind the civil war was. His suspicions were confirmed when one of the people who had just killed suddenly stood up to fight. But now, their eyes had turned pitch black.

It didn’t take him long to find who was responsible for all of these deaths and carnage. There were just too many crows flying around, cawing, and entering the eyes of dead bodies to reanimate them for the culprit to be easy to identify and find.

After he confirmed what was going on, he used the bird to hijack the mind of a bird person. Then he made the bird person approach one of the black crows.

The black crow he picked was sitting on a fence, watching the fight. Before he could get close to it, the crow turned to him and said, “What do you want, Mind Hunter? Make it quick. As you can see, I am busy here.”

The bird person said, “Senior, I have news about the plans of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect. They are using your massacre to convince the spirit of this world to work with them. Once they borrow the power of the world, they intend to amplify it and use it to wipe out the other sects.”

As he spoke, he scanned the crow from head to toe, but didn’t notice anything living about it. The crow didn’t have a mind. It was just a mass of energy, which wasn’t surprising to Loki since it was the Life Ability of a cultivator.

After he was done talking, the crow said, “Hmm. Interesting. So they are using me.”

Then the crow began to cackle in laughter. As it laughed, it said, “What do they take me for? Do they think me some fluzzy whom they can rip off?”

The crow was talking to him, but it was also shedding feathers. It wasn’t the only one doing this. Every crow was shedding feathers, too.

All of the feathers they shed expanded and became complete crows. So one crow was capable of creating ten more crows, and ten thousand crows were able to create a hundred thousand crows.

After creating so many crows, the crow said to Loki, “I planned to take my time with this, but it looks like I can’t hold back at all.”

“In that case, let the cry of death resound throughout the land and let the unbelievers rue the day they crossed the boundaries of I, Morphius the Black.”

As it spoke, the black crows in the city all spread their wings and rose in the air. They cawed incessantly as they did so, which created a lot of commotion.

The noise drew everyone’s attention to what the crowd was doing. So everyone in the vicinity saw the crows gather into a large black cloud.

The cloud of crows was so large that they blocked out the sun and plunged the large city into darkness. But the darkness that covered the city wasn’t just shadow created by the absence of light. The darkness was thick and heavy and suffocating as if it had substance.

The thick darkness formed a blanket across the whole city. Everything lost its colors because of it. The whole city became black and gray and lifeless because of this thick blanket of darkness.
