The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

After a moment of silence, Director Hou chuckled softly twice and reported: ”Mr. Wang, Political Commissioner Li, this investigation trip was indeed very fruitful for us.”

”Without Jiang An’s solid visits and technical support, many cases would likely still be stuck at an impasse, making progress extremely difficult.”

As soon as the words were spoken, Mr. Wang nodded and smiled in agreement: ”That’s right, I’m fully aware of the entire process.”

”Especially the critical trace evidence you discovered at the scene, which was indeed a breakthrough development.”

”Without that evidence, all our subsequent investigative directions would be meaningless, let alone finding so many valuable breakthroughs.”

He turned to Political Commissioner Li, speaking with a more solemn tone: ”I have already briefed the bureau leadership on the progress of this case.”

”Leadership has instructed that it should be summarized as a classic case and that the next step is to organize learning and imitation throughout the province.”

Political Commissioner Li immediately responded: ”No problem, that’s necessary.”

”Such a breakthrough in a case is both representative and instructive and should definitely be promoted.”

He paused briefly before continuing: ”Additionally, I have already submitted a separate report to the bureau regarding the commendations for these two comrades.”

”After research, it has been decided to award each of them a second-class individual merit.”

Upon hearing this, Director Hou’s eyes widened instantly, and his face was filled with incredulous joy.

Having been in the police force for over twenty years, he has received many commendations, but this is the first time he’s been awarded a second-class individual merit.

He couldn’t help but excitedly confirm: ”Mr. Wang, is this true? A second-class merit for me?”

Mr. Wang laughed heartily, patting him on the shoulder: ”Of course, it’s true. When have I ever lied to you?”

”Not just you, Jiang An will also be awarded a second-class individual merit this time.”

”In this special operation to tackle the homicide case, you both started with a sprinting momentum. This achievement deserves recognition, and this honor should belong to you!”

Upon hearing about being awarded a second-class individual merit, both of them were extremely happy.

It’s worth noting that Jiang An was transferred from the grassroots to the provincial office less than two weeks ago, and he has already become a first-class hero—it’s as if he’s leading an extraordinary life.

If this news reaches the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau, those comrades who fought alongside him may be envious beyond measure, happy for him, while secretly thinking, ”This guy, both luck and ability are amazing!”

Excited, they didn’t delay and soon set off for the hotel arranged by the provincial office.

According to the rules, Director Hou wasn’t supposed to be provided accommodation, but considering his exhausting casework travels and family responsibilities, the provincial office made a special exception and got him a room.

After quickly settling their luggage, Director Hou and Jiang An washed up and headed back out to the office.

The canteen had already set aside food for them, which, though not luxurious, was delicate and delicious.

After quickly finishing their meal, they caught up just in time for the afternoon work hours.

They entered the meeting room of the Criminal Investigation Team one after the other—the afternoon meeting was a plenary session aimed at summarizing and reviewing previous work, as well as assigning upcoming tasks, especially focusing on the special deployment of tackling homicide cases.

The meeting commenced with Mr. Wang getting straight to the point: ”Today’s meeting is quite special. Apart from our team members, we have specially invited Jiang An, the captain of the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau Criminal Investigation Team, to join us.”

With these words, Jiang An stood up to greet everyone, waving and bowing, displaying a humble and upright demeanor.

Mr. Wang gestured for him to sit down with a smile and continued: ”Comrade Jiang An, many of you are probably familiar with him, and some of you have even worked on cases with him.”

”He has been outstanding in solving several major cases in Jiangcheng previously.”

”There was a period when the provincial bureau even specifically assigned him to evaluate supervised cases, his professional skills speak for themselves.”

”In this formation of the provincial-level task force for tackling difficult and unresolved homicide cases, he partnered with Director Hou, yielding remarkable results—solving three cases on the field, each concluded perfectly, you could say ’every shot is a hit.’”

”Take the recent East City mental illness murder case as an example, it’s rare nationwide.”

”The suspect had a dual personality, making interrogation extremely challenging, but Jiang An successfully broke him down through clever psychological strategies and questioning techniques.

”After a brief introduction, Mr. Wang spoke steadily and gravely: ”The action to tackle and resolve old homicide cases is currently a core work highly valued and prioritized by the entire provincial public security system.”

”This is not only crucial for solving the cases themselves but also relates to the public’s expectation for fairness and justice, as well as our law enforcement credibility and sense of responsibility.”

”After repeated research, the bureau decided to set up a provincial task force to guide the aggressive handling of old cases across the province, aiming to truly solve those complex, long-standing, and difficult cases through centralized supervision, professional guidance, and multi-party collaboration.”

After a moment of pause, he continued resolutely: ”This step is crucial in the face of new situations and challenges and is also a necessary requirement to enhance the professional and combat readiness level of the provincial criminal investigation team.”

”Our task force must develop the capability to tackle and resolve major complex cases, a capability that comes from the accumulation of experience, methodological innovation, and continuous in-depth practical training.”

”Hence, this work is not temporary but will be conducted as a long-term mechanism, continuously strengthening our foundation for solving cases.”

”Therefore, the bureau has decided to select a young officer from the Criminal Investigation Team to participate in the task force throughout this operation.”

”The goal is explicit, to ’open their eyes, broaden their knowledge, and enhance their abilities’ through practical combat.”

”Some of our young comrades, objectively speaking, currently indeed lack operational experience and practical training.”

”If they are to take on the responsibility of guiding difficult provincial cases in the future, they need to have solid frontline experience, and the tempering of handling complex cases is essential.”

”So, participating in this process is crucial for their personal growth and indispensable for the long-term development of the team.”

”We must do this work thoroughly and adequately, and every step must ensure effectiveness, and it must not become superficial.”

Upon hearing this, a few young officers below couldn’t help but be slightly moved, exchanging glances and whispering among themselves.

Everyone was wondering: who would be the ’lucky one’ chosen?

After all, the news of Director Hou and Captain Jiang both being awarded second-class individual merits from their previous actions had already spread throughout the bureau.

This task force operation led by the provincial office has garnered strong reactions in various cities and regions and also attracted significant attention within the bureau.

Following the task force into the field would undoubtedly be a great opportunity for learning and training. Even if they may not win a second-class merit like the two leaders, such an experience is undeniably a valuable asset for personal resume and skill enhancement.

At this moment, a ponytailed female officer with clear eyes raised her hand.

Mr. Wang turned his gaze to her and nodded: ”Ma Li, go ahead.”

”Reporting to Mr. Wang!” Ma Li stood up, ”I hope to join Director Hou and Captain Jiang in this task force action to tackle and resolve old homicide cases.”

”I am eager to learn through practical combat, to broaden my horizons and accumulate experience.”

”I earnestly request the organization to consider my request and give me this opportunity!”

As soon as she finished speaking, several young officers beside her, as if sparked with enthusiasm, stood up and raised their hands one after another:

”Mr. Wang, I also apply to participate!”

”Mr. Wang, I also want to follow and learn, broaden my horizons!”

”Mr. Wang, please consider me!”

.....

Seeing everyone’s enthusiasm and eagerness to express their wishes, an almost imperceptible smile of satisfaction passed across Mr. Wang’s face.

He didn’t expect such a strong desire and enthusiasm from the young team members to participate in major case investigations and enhance their professional abilities.

After everyone calmed down slightly, he raised his hand slowly, signaling them to sit: ”The proactive attitude in volunteering is great, it shows our team is full of energy and drive.”

”However, today’s meeting is primarily to initially collect intentions and compile a list of candidates.”

”The specific selection will follow, and we will carefully discuss with Director Hou and Captain Jiang, considering the practical needs of this task force action and assessing each comrade’s professional background, growth experiences, skills, and daily performance.”

”Please be patient, the organization will make fair and just arrangements.”
