Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 329: The dense wall broke?

”I am a gentleman. I wouldn’t peek into a woman’s body.”

”Relax, Chief Grey.” Jasmine chuckled. ”I was just joking.”

”I know that you are a gentleman, and from the looks of it, you are intently focused on the pursuit of power. It’s to the point that you are unaware of what’s happening around you.”

”Are you naturally this dense?” Jasmine asked with a smile on her face. ”I pity the women around you.”

”Dense...” Grey tilted his head in confusion.

Then, he frowned.

”...” Grey suddenly fell silent, as if something he had deliberately ignored brushed against his thoughts.

Two women’s voices echoed faintly within his mind.

One was a promise, spoken long ago, about taking care of a child, about giving her a home and letting her live under his roof.

The other voice was calmer, more direct.

”In short, I want someone like you.”

”...” Grey’s expression darkened.

Jasmine’s words about love did not move the current Chief Grey, nor the creator of the Nexus Evolutionary Path.

Instead, they stirred something far older.

The ordinary Grey Lockhart of Earth.

An ordinary man who had once lived without systems, evolutions, or authority.

”What the hell.” Grey muttered, genuinely unsettled.

The feeling did not come like inspiration, but like pressure.

No, to be precise, it was something he had avoided acknowledging for a long time.

Since crossing over, his world had been simple.

Get stronger. Evolve. Survive.

Everything else had been pushed aside, labeled unnecessary, inefficient, or irrelevant.

It was only now that he realized how absolute that mindset had become.

Logically speaking, the women around him had hinted at it more than once.

Repeatedly, even.

One of them had already taken on the role of his daughter’s mother without hesitation.

”No, why did I even ignore this?” Grey frowned, confused more than embarrassed.

”What happened, Chief Grey?” Jasmine asked, tilting her head slightly. Seeing him talk to himself like this was strange.

Grey exhaled slowly.

Until now, he had always seen those around him as subordinates.

People he trusted, relied on, and protected.

That perspective came naturally from his position as a creator, not as a man.

His focus on evolution had been so absolute that he filtered every interaction through utility and necessity.

He did not miss the hints because they were subtle.

He missed them because he did not allow himself to see them.

He had to admit it.

In matters like this, he was painfully dull.

”How am I not any better than those dense protagonists?” Grey’s lips twitched.

The realization finally settled.

The women around him did not stay because they were awed by his power.

They stayed because they cared.

Because they worried about him, pushed him forward, and wanted him to be more than a machine that only chased breakthroughs.

Valeria and Lia had both done that in their own ways.

Yet he never truly took their words to heart.

At the time, there had always been a quiet arrogance within him.

As a creator.

As someone with the Comprehension Lotus.

He believed that he would always break through, that answers would eventually come, and that emotions could be postponed indefinitely.

There was also another reason.

It had only been a few months since he crossed over.

He had adapted to power far faster than he had adapted to living in this world.

Uncertainties like letting someone close, or allowing another person into his life, were burdens the old Grey subconsciously avoided.

So he ignored them.

But now, things were different.

At the fourth level of the second rank, with the ability to contend against a higher-level third ranker, he no longer felt trapped by survival alone.

His mind had elevated.

With strength came space.

With authority came freedom.

And with his goals already taking shape, the thoughts he had suppressed for so long surged forward at Jasmine’s words, like a tide that could no longer be held back.

”You are right, Jasmine.” Grey said with a helpless look on his face. ”I might be dense.”

Jasmine was slightly taken aback hearing this.

”What happened, Chief Grey? Did what I say hurt you?” Jasmine asked, slightly speechless.

Is this man a crybaby? Did he get offended over that?

”It’s not that. I just realized something when you mentioned me being dense.”

”Could it be... you’ve realized it...?” Jasmine said with a slightly shocked look on her face.

She knew about Grey’s situation.

There was a woman living with him who took care of his little daughter, and another one managing the region for him.

These were not things a woman would normally do for someone.

Unless they loved and cared for the man they were doing it for.

”I’m not any better than those dense protagonists.” Grey repeated with a dark look on his face.

He had directly ignored the affection the women around him had shown. Valeria had even directly confessed to him.

Should he perhaps jump down a cliff?

He didn’t know how to face them now.

”It’s okay, Chief Grey.” Jasmine stepped forward and consoled him. ”Some people are just naturally dense. Now that you’ve come to realize it, it will be easier for me as well.”

”What?” Grey was taken aback.

”You will be put on a waiting list. I don’t know how I’m supposed to react to them now.” Grey said with a dark look on his face.

There were two women who loved him right now.

One had shown clear signs early on, and he had treated it as teasing.

The other was even more obvious.

She had become his dedicated little wife without much interaction at all.

But.

He couldn’t just ignore one and accept the other, right?

Looking at Grey’s distressed face, Jasmine chuckled. ”There is no need to think too much about it. If a girl loves you, which I know they both do from what I’ve observed, it’s not wrong for you to love them back, as long as you are comfortable with it.”

”In the end, it’s a matter of whether you like them back or not.”

”And a word of advice, Chief Grey. In this age, having more than one wife is a common thing.” Jasmine said with a chuckle.
