Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 318: A Brandon obsessed with the Icewall

[Day fifteen - with the discovery of the special energy, the team began forming teams and researching the energy.]

[The energy didn’t move or show itself unless the ice wall itself was being threatened. We informed the Grand Priest of this, and he personally arranged a powerful 3rd ranker, the branch leader of the North, Noah Longfest, an Abyssal Marquis at the 12th level of 3rd rank, to descend down to the Southern Region after careful preparation and punch the wall.]

[We managed to get its reading once more, and it was far more powerful than before, and the branch leader of the Northern Region, Noah Longfest, also got severely injured.]

[But from this, we managed to find another piece of information about the wall.]

[The law of disorder was effective against the ice wall!]

[The Grand Priest Leon, hearing of this news, immediately acted and tried to attack the ice wall in the North using his powers.]

[The results were that the ice wall significantly weakened at the impact.]

[However, crossing over is still impossible.]

[Grand Priest Leon suggested that if they can weaken it to some degree and amplify spatial powers, then one might be able to sense the spatial nodes across the other side and teleport there.]

[With this discovery, the research slowed.]

[10 years later, I just came back to add in an update. There has been no progress on this so far. Grand Priest Leon mentioned that he had already found a way to amplify the spatial powers, but there were no further updates from him.]

[The only reason the Southern Region managed to know of this is because the Abyssal Mistress has a good relationship with the Grand Priest.]

[Her warming everyone’s bed has its use.]

[Anyways, I’m gonna die tomorrow. There is a special power in me that not even the Grand Priest could identify properly, and I get a painful sensation at nights, like a fire burning within me. And because of that, my lifespan has drastically reduced.]

[I’ve given into my fate long ago. I shouldn’t have joined the High Order.]

[If someone ever bothers reading this, which I know no one will since the High Order members are either crazy hobos who only know how to kill or have destruction in their mind, just know that I, Brandon Hall, existed.]

[Strangely enough, the reason I even bothered writing these reports is because I feel a sense of longing towards the ice wall.]

[It’s like a part of me is there.]

[It’s a pity that I will die without knowing what this longing is.]

[I was born an orphan. Could it be that I was swept over to this side from the other side of the world?]

[Okay, time to go. I am going to shave my head bald and dig a grave for myself somewhere around in the vicinity so I can jump and die as my time comes.]

”...”

”...”

[...]

”Big Bro Grey, when was this report recorded again?”

”A hundred years ago.” Grey replied absent-mindedly,

because he was staring at the name on the screen with interest.

Brandon.

”Can a coincidence like this exist?”

And the fact that this fellow named Brandon, the same guy that sacrificed himself to build this wall, had a special longing to it.

Like something was calling out to it.

It cannot be a mere coincidence.

There must be a hidden factor in all this. He was sure of it.

Could it be that the Brandon in this report was the incarnation of the 5th rank expert, Brandon Everhart?

5th rankers are origin beings that had touched upon the origin and gained the powerful origin source.

All these struggles of law reshaping, all those struggles of strengthening one’s core and then opening a domain were all for the sake of creating the origin source.

As long as it existed, one would continue to exist, no matter what means.

’Could it be that he sacrificed his origin source to form this ice wall?’ That thought wasn’t to be ignored at all.

This was something he never thought would happen.

Could it be that since Brandon’s origin still exists, he just keeps reincarnating around it?

Could there be such a coincidence like that?

It can’t be right?

”What happened, Big Bro Grey? You seemed to be deep in thought?”

Grey swiftly snapped out of it and simply shrugged.

”Nothing. I was just thinking about something.”

[I know you are hiding something, but I can’t prove that you are hiding it.]

”Oh? What makes you say that?” Grey looked at the system, amused.

[I don’t know. The report looks kind of sketchy to me. Why did it seem like the guy that wrote this down seemed like he wanted to do some unspeakable things to the ice wall?]

”Well, it’s not like how you think it is.” Grey chuckled.

”Remember the name Brandon?”

”Huh? Could it be...?” Lin Fang immediately connected the dots.

”No way, right...?”

[It’s possible.] the system suddenly spoke.

[Now it kind of makes sense why he’s obsessed with the ice walls.]

[You mentioned it was created by sacrificing himself, right?]

[That can only mean one thing. Sacrificing his origin source to create it, and it would explain most of the strange phenomena related to the wall.]

”Wait, does that mean this dude keeps on being reincarnated?”

[It’s not impossible. I don’t know much about this world, but an origin source, as long as it exists, the person will never die.]

[Well, that’s in the case that the origin source doesn’t run out of lifespan.]

[It’s a mysterious power that touches upon origin and is also the reason why fifth rankers are feared.]

[Breaking the ice wall might not be that easy from the looks of it.]

[And that Brandon should’ve already reincarnated by now.]

”After this is all over, I’ll form a search party to look for his traces.” Grey spoke with a nod.

”For now, let’s keep that thought in the back. We will think about it once we gain more proof.”

Both the system and Lin Fang agreed, and Grey began surfing through the archives once more till eventually he found another interesting report.

This one caused his eyebrows to raise.
