Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1792: Chapter 1791: It’s Over Before It Even Started

After Gan Tian finished speaking, she turned red-faced and ran off. This blow was too much; Gan Tian felt like she had lost all face.

After Gan Tian left, Tian Niu let out a helpless chuckle. “Well, it seems this old ox has done something to make a young lady upset!”

Judging by her reaction, it seemed like Gan Tian might be interested in him.

Tian Niu truly hadn’t expected it—he was surprised that a young lady would like him. He’d always assumed that in this lifetime, only Shuangshuang would ever find him appealing.

Gan Tian dashed back to the dormitory in one breath and saw everyone taking their midday nap.

Lin Miao was lying under her covers, sleeping soundly. Every now and then, she muttered dreamily, “So delicious…”

“Eat, eat, eat! That’s all you think about!” Gan Tian stomped her foot angrily, stormed over, and yanked Lin Miao’s covers off. “Get up!”

Lin Miao had been sleeping comfortably, but she was dragged out of her warm bed by Gan Tian. Feeling a bit annoyed, she looked at her friend with exasperation and asked in a hushed voice, “What’s wrong, Auntie? Did you swallow a bomb?”

“I’m asking you—was your intel accurate or not?” Gan Tian demanded angrily. “Is Captain Tian married or not?”

“He’s not! I asked around—they said Captain Tian isn’t married! Why? You’re saying my info was wrong?” Lin Miao rubbed her sleepy eyes as she replied.

“Not just wrong—completely and utterly wrong! He’s already married!” Gan Tian furrowed her brows, looking distressed and on the verge of tears. “I just handed him movie tickets, and he said he couldn’t go with me because his wife wouldn’t be happy about it!”

Gan Tian was already twenty-one, no longer a new recruit. But her love life was still a blank slate—she was an innocent girl who had always fantasized about a Prince Charming. And now, that dream was shattered by the realization that he was already a married man.

“What? Are you serious?” Lin Miao nearly thought she had misheard.

“Why would I lie to you?”

“Son of a bear!” Lin Miao clenched her fists and spat between gritted teeth, “That bastard Xiaozhou dared to deceive me! I swear I’ll go teach him a lesson!”

…………

Gan Tian’s love had ended before it even began.

The lovestruck young girl had fallen into the despair of heartbreak. In the past few days, the more Gan Tian learned about Tian Niu, the more painful it became. When love strikes, there’s no stopping it—even before she’d figured out Tian Niu’s marital status, she had already fallen hard.

On the weekend, Lin Miao noticed Gan Tian sitting on her bunk, staring blankly at the two movie tickets in her hand and sighing deeply. Lin Miao couldn’t bear to see her close friend suffering. After all, this whole thing had started because of her.

She felt it was her duty and responsibility to help Gan Tian get through this difficult time.

So, she decided to accompany Gan Tian out onto the streets.

The two young female soldiers changed into civilian clothes and joined the bustling crowds in town. Lin Miao acted like a bird set free from its cage, darting around to take in the sights.

Gan Tian, however, showed no interest in anything.

“Hey, Tiantian! It’s just a broken heart, isn’t it? Besides, you’ve only met him three times—it’s not that serious!” Lin Miao consoled Gan Tian. She glanced up and noticed a vendor selling candied hawthorn skewers nearby. Turning to Tiantian, she said, “Come on, sis will treat you—let’s go get some candied hawthorn!”

She didn’t wait for a response from Gan Tian before making a beeline for the candy vendor.

“Two skewers of candied hawthorn, please!”

When Lin Miao returned with the candied hawthorn skewers, she couldn’t see Gan Tian anywhere. After looking around for a while, she spotted Gan Tian weaving quickly through the crowd in the opposite direction. Holding the skewers aloft, Lin Miao hurriedly darted after her.

“Gan Tian! Where are you running off to?” Lin Miao finally caught up, panting heavily. She reached out to pat Gan Tian’s shoulder, but when Gan Tian turned her face toward her, Lin Miao was so startled she nearly lost her soul.
