Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1768: Chapter 1767: Probing Military Secrets

Qin Jian took the photos and was shocked by the contents: ”Where did these come from?”

The two photos depicted the tank models deployed in their military exercise, the participating units in the drill, and even captured his silhouette standing by the command headquarters.

”Take a guess!” Zhang Jianguo squinted his eyes, and the man who usually wore a warm smile now had a cold gleam in his gaze.

Qin Jian suddenly recalled the man they had captured that night, the one who clung stubbornly to lies: ”Could it be him? Did he take these photos?”

”I can’t confirm if it was him, but that man definitely is suspicious.” Zhang Jianguo was certain that this matter was inextricably linked to the man.

”Are you saying that man appeared in the exercise field to spy on our military secrets?”

Zhang Jianguo nodded slowly: ”Highly likely! Though this punk is tight-lipped and won’t say a word.”

Qin Jian clenched his fist and slammed it on the table with a loud bang, shaking the lid of the teacup nearby: ”Outrageous! Such brazen arrogance!”

”Exactly.” Zhang Jianguo turned and walked toward the window. Staring at the rising crimson sun on the distant horizon, he spoke in a deep voice: ”Since the founding of our nation, there hasn’t been a single day when enemies haven’t been coveting our land! The enemy’s attempts to steal our national secrets, our military secrets, have never ceased! As the nation’s army, we must capture all these vile culprits trying to undermine our achievements and safeguard our territorial security!”

”Yes!” Qin Jian stood at attention and responded sternly, ”We must constantly stay vigilant! Once I return, I’ll repeatedly emphasize our troop’s confidentiality regulations to the warriors!”

”Good. As long as you understand.”

”By the way, Commander, how did these photos come about?” This had been troubling Qin Jian all along.

”After you left, as I was leading the troops back, I happened to find a camera in the grass. Upon returning, I handed the film over to the relevant department for examination — sure enough, it’s related to this!”

”So, during this exercise, quite a few people infiltrated our exercise grounds — armed drug traffickers, and even spies trying to steal national secrets?” Qin Jian sneered, and the muscles in his face twitched, ”These damned pests! Just wait till I root them out and deal with them properly!”

”We simply need to stay vigilant about this. National security departments will handle the situation. You don’t need to interfere! I called you here just to remind you not to be careless!” Zhang Jianguo took the photos, lit them with a match, and watched them burn to ashes, ”Alright, I’ve got nothing else here. Do you have anything to report?”

”No, Commander!”

”How’s An Hao? Your sister-in-law was asking — she wants you to bring the kids over whenever you have time; she’ll make something delicious for you!” Zhang Jianguo inquired.

”She’s doing well. Maybe once we have some free time! Yan Ye and Dr. Lu are both injured, so An Hao has been incredibly busy lately. I’m afraid she won’t have time for a while!” Qin Jian replied helplessly, ”Honestly, I think her days are even busier than mine.”

”Hahaha!” Zhang Jianguo couldn’t help but laugh heartily, ”I still remember the first time I met her — she was just a little girl, always smiling before she spoke, her dimples often dancing on her cheeks! And now she’s grown into an outstanding military doctor! You know, Qin Jian, you really have great judgment!”
