Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1782: Chapter 1781: Chief, please forgive me!

”Hey! Tiantian! Be careful!” Lin Miao realized she had accidentally let go, and hurriedly reached out to grab her. But it was too late. Unwilling to witness the upcoming ”catastrophe,” she quickly covered her eyes with her hands.

Tiantian’s body lurched forward and fell outward. Just when she thought she was bound to face-plant into the dirt, two army-green figures happened to walk into view at the intersection where the pathway met the main road.

”Aaaaaaaah!” She screamed as she lunged toward the figure closest to her.

”Ouch!”

”Ahhh—!”

After two loud yells, Lin Miao opened her eyes and rushed over. On the road in front of the regiment office building lay a captain-ranked officer, with thick eyebrows, big eyes, and a simple, honest appearance.

Her comrade, Tiantian, had thrown herself right into the man’s arms, and at the moment, she was still dazed and struggling to get up.

Beside them stood another captain-ranked officer, his eyes wide as brass bells and his mouth agape, large enough to fit an egg.

”I’m so sorry! So sorry, Sir! I really apologize!” Lin Miao, seeing the scene, immediately ran up, bent over, and tried to pull Tiantian to her feet.

At this point, Tiantian was clutching her head, grimacing in pain. She didn’t dare lift her head as she repeatedly apologized, ”I’m sorry, Sir! I’m so sorry!”

Her heartbeat had already soared to 180, terrified that the officers might reprimand them.

They hadn’t been paying attention to military discipline and had been horsing around at the regiment headquarters. Now that they’d collided into commanding officers, they were terrified their company commander would find out and discipline them.

”You two female soldiers are from the communications platoon, right? Why are you so reckless? Charging forward and crashing straight into Captain Tian!” The first battalion commander stood by, gloating, with not a shred of a leader’s demeanor.

Qin Jian could barely tolerate this guy’s constant unprofessionalism.

”Report! I am Lin Miao from Squad Three, Platoon One, Communications Section!”

”Report! I am Gan Tian from Squad Three, Platoon One, Communications Section!”

Gan Tian lifted her head and saw Tian Niu, who had just climbed up from the ground. He kept his head lowered and covered his mouth with his hand. Gan Tian couldn’t make out his expression; from her angle, all she could see was his furrowed brow.

”Sir... I really apologize!” Gan Tian noticed Tian Niu neither speaking nor looking up, which only made her more anxious. Her heart thumped wildly, as if there were seven or eight rabbits bouncing around inside.

Tian Niu’s lips were hurting, and when he lightly touched them with his fingers, he realized they were bleeding. His mood instantly turned foul.

If his mother-in-law and Gu Shuangshuang saw this back at home, who knows what punishment he’d face?

Thinking about this made him unbearably frustrated.

He abruptly raised his head, intent on scolding the two female soldiers for playing around at the regiment headquarters. But when he saw the girl’s face, he froze.

The girl, worried that the officer was ignoring her and anticipating disciplinary action, also froze when she saw Tian Niu lift his head.

”My lifesaver!” The words escaped her lips before she could stop them.

”It’s you?” Standing before him was the very young female soldier he had rescued on the street just days ago.

”Yes, Sir! Thank you for saving my life! Today’s incident was entirely my fault. I take full responsibility and beg for your forgiveness!” Gan Tian, both nervous and excited, hurriedly apologized.

The female soldier kept apologizing repeatedly, embarrassing Tian Niu to the point where he couldn’t bring himself to pursue the matter further. ”Forget it, it wasn’t intentional! Remember, this is the army; you must always uphold a soldier’s image! No more messing around next time!”
