Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1760: Chapter 1759: Taking You Home

”No, no, no!” The captain of the anti-narcotics team, who had been silently watching him beat the suspect, spoke up. ”Lieutenant Zhao, you can’t kill him! Although his crimes are numerous and he deserves to die multiple times over, we still need him alive. We need to interrogate him and extract more information about the drug trafficking organization. Only then can we uproot them completely and take them down in one blow!”

Zhao Dong’s outstretched hand, trembling, reluctantly withdrew. ”Alright! Captain, I beg you to interrogate him thoroughly and ensure he’s sentenced to death. Only then can my younger brother’s spirit in heaven find peace!”

As he spoke, his eyes turned red, and scorching tears streamed down his cheeks.

”Rest assured! Our anti-narcotics hero will not have sacrificed in vain! The nation’s laws will never let such a deranged drug dealer go unpunished! Lieutenant, the battle is over now. We still need to go rescue the hostages. Let’s not linger here for too long!” The captain said.

”You don’t need to worry about the hostages. I’ve already seen them earlier. I had them hide on the mountainside in a relatively safe place!” Qin Jian replied.

”Report!” At that moment, one of the anti-narcotics officers who participated in the fight stepped forward and said, ”Captain, the count has been completed. However, we discovered there’s still one drug dealer who got away.”

”Who?”

”Someone with the nickname ’Rat’!”

”You don’t need to look for him. I killed him up in the mountains.” Qin Jian briefly recounted the situation at that time.

”Alright. In that case, Commander, please lead us up there. We need to clean up the battlefield.” The captain said.

”Let’s go then.”

..............................

Lin Sheng, Mu Mian, and An Hao sat in place, waiting for the battle to end. The sound of gunfire had become sporadic, and soon it stopped altogether.

”I wonder which side came out victorious,” Mu Mian said, tightly clasping her hands, speculating nervously. Her mood was a mix of anxiety and hopefulness.

”The drug dealers must lose! Our forces will definitely win!” An Hao said firmly. She believed that as long as Qin Jian led the unit, they would completely eradicate the drug dealers.

”I believe in our victory too!” Lin Sheng said with confidence. But after a moment, he lowered his head in regret and added, ”After committing such a grave mistake, the army probably won’t want me anymore, right?”

An Hao remained silent. She couldn’t give Lin Sheng any assurances.

Everything could only wait until Qin Jian returned.

Not far away, the sound of footsteps approached. The three of them instinctively leaned close together and concealed themselves in the bushes.

”An Hao! An Hao!”

”Sister-in-law! Sister-in-law, where are you? Come out quickly, the commander is here to take you home!”

”...”

”It’s Qin Jian...” An Hao sprang to her feet and waved towards the advancing group under the moonlight.

A few minutes later, Qin Jian led his men to them.

Seeing Qin Jian return safely, the tension that had gripped An Hao’s heart finally eased. Overcome with emotion, she darted forward and threw herself into his arms.

”You’re finally here!”

”You’re all safe now!” Qin Jian tightly embraced An Hao and let out a deep breath. ”You’re alright! We can go home now.”

”Ah, such a life-and-death ordeal...” Zhao Dong sighed deeply as he watched the scene unfold. ”Ah, having a woman really is something else. After a fierce battle, you get to return to soft warmth and tenderness.”
