Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1756: Chapter 1755: Seeking Wealth and Fortune Amid Danger

The opposition had many people, and they were ferocious—bullets fired one after another, as if they would never run out.

Mu Qiankun’s bullets quickly ran out. He could only cling to an empty gun, waiting to be captured.

”It seems like they’re out of bullets now.” Mu Qiankun heard someone from the other side say that. Moments later, he, the big guy, and Lin Sheng were surrounded in a loud commotion by a group of charging men.

Numerous dark gun barrels pointed directly at their heads.

”I surrender!” Mu Qiankun raised his hands in defeat. This time, he was completely finished.

However, when he clearly saw the people who had taken them prisoner, his eyes widened: ”You’re not the police!”

”Kun... Kun Bro! Why is it you?” The person on the other side was clearly shocked as well.

”Old Jin, what are you doing here?” Mu Qiankun was also stunned. The Old Jin he was referring to was the supplier who had always operated from the other side of the border.

”Collect everything, put it all away! We’re all friends here!” Old Jin called out to his dozens of men. ”Everyone sit down, rest for a bit right here! Recover some strength; we’ll set off again in ten minutes.”

”Wait... Old Jin, what’s going on? Why aren’t you staying put in Xian Country? What made you bring people over?” Mu Qiankun asked.

”Don’t even bring it up. Lately, it’s like something’s gone wrong on your side. I’ve been waiting for months, but not a single buyer has come over. Bro, I’m short on cash. That’s why I brought people and goods over this time, testing the waters!” Old Jin replied in frustration.

”What? You crossed over the checkpoint on that side?”

”Of course. Why, were you planning to head over to find me?” Old Jin asked.

”Yeah! But, Old Jin, I can only tell you this—you’ve picked the wrong time to come. Right now, things over here are extremely chaotic. The anti-drug task force has been chasing me all the way to the border. I’ve suffered heavy losses this time! My men, my money—everything’s gone! Right now, there’s still a big group chasing after me! My advice to you is to head back while you can. I’ll also join your group and go across to take shelter. I’ll wait until this chaos blows over, then I’ll come back!” Mu Qiankun said.

At this moment, he finally saw a glimmer of hope.

”What? You’re being chased? How many people are in the anti-drug task force chasing you? Look at my men—do you think we have a shot if we go head-to-head with them?” After coming all this way, Old Jin was unwilling to turn back just like that.

He couldn’t accept it!

”It’s about ten or so people, I think? Along the way, I managed to blow several of them up with explosives, but their force is still formidable,” Mu Qiankun said dejectedly.

”No matter! Screw it!” Old Jin clenched his teeth. ”I can’t come all this way for nothing! I’ve got lots of men, and plenty of guns and ammo—let’s take them on! If we win, I’ll make a ton of money this trip! Fortune comes with risk! Let’s go!”

”Fine! Let’s do it! It’s life and death either way!” Mu Qiankun fully committed himself.

”Then what are we waiting for? Let’s move!” Old Jin declared.

”Wait! My daughter, a brother of mine, and a hostage are all missing. I have to find them!” Mu Qiankun still couldn’t stop thinking about Mu Mian.

”Kun Bro, you already said it—it’s dangerous out here. Are you really going to look for your daughter? If we don’t leave now, if something happens, forget your daughter, we could all lose our lives!”

”But she’s my only daughter. I can’t just abandon her!” He knew he wasn’t a perfect father, but even if he died, he wouldn’t let Mu Mian perish in these mountains.
