Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 850: Chapter 850: Guess Who I Met

”An Hao, guess who I saw today.” As soon as the door closed and it was just Xin Ni and An Hao together, her expression changed.

”Whoever you love to meet, meet them. What’s that got to do with me?” An Hao lowered her head, fiddling with the jars of pickles, digging out the salty vegetables.

”I met your love rival!” Xin Ni leaned in, with a triumphant smile on her face, ”You’d better stop bothering me from now on, just let me live in peace and I’ll spare you. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you don’t have any good days ahead.”

An Hao turned her head, her face covered with a layer of frost, ”That’s something I should be saying to you! It would be all right if you didn’t bother me, but if you provoke me again, I won’t let you off as easily as now.”

”We’ll see about that.” Xin Ni hummed a little tune and left. Even if she couldn’t handle An Hao, she had to annoy her.

Watching Xin Ni’s smug look, An Hao frowned, scooped up two heaping spoonfuls of salt from the salt jar, and added it to the pickles, ”Eat! I hope it doesn’t salt you to death!”

An Hao served the salty pickles and white rice to Xin Ni, then sat down at another table, next to Qin Jian.

The warriors all raised their glasses in a toast to An Hao, ”Sister-in-law, cheers to your hard work! We all drink to you.”

”Sure.” An Hao, not being coy, picked up the drink Qin Jian had poured for her and gulped it down, ”Eat while it’s hot, everyone, hurry up! If it’s tasty, have more!”

”Thank you, sister-in-law!” the warriors said in unison.

An Hao’s cooking skills were undeniable; the group of warriors ate joyfully, and as they got warmer, they started stripping off their tops, eating hard with bare arms.

Only the warrior Xiaolin didn’t strip, staying neatly dressed.

”Take it off, take it off!” Li Zecheng, seeing Xiaolin as the odd one out, insisted he take off his top, ”You can’t be the only one special here.”

Under the encouragement of everyone, warrior Xiaolin took off his shirt and sneakily glanced at An Hao. Seeing that she had looked his way, his face turned red in an instant.

An Hao saw it, pursed her lips, smiled at him, and then looked away.

Over the years with Qin Jian in the army, she had seen all sorts of warriors, but such a shy one was a first for her, so she took an extra glance.

That one look made the young warrior blush crimson.

”Hey, hey, hey! Look how red Xiaolin’s face is!”

”Isn’t it! Little Xiaolin is still so young! Turned red-faced in front of sister-in-law and another sister!”

”The boy is pure and innocent!”

”Ahahaha!”

A crowd started teasing Xiaolin, who was too embarrassed to look up, bowing his head and busily eating his rice.

Xin Ni saw all this and her lips curled in scorn, then she lowered her head to eat her own meal.

Since An Hao hadn’t given her a spoon, she clumsily used her chopsticks to shovel rice into her mouth, straining herself to pick up a piece of small salty pickle and put it in her mouth.

As soon as it reached her mouth, it was so salty that she spat it out with a ”pfft”.

Damn An Hao!

This was deliberate, not intending to let her have a good meal! Doing this was clearly meant to starve her!

Xin Ni slammed her chopsticks down and left, finding an excuse of feeling unwell.

The rest of the warriors laughed and drank merrily, lingering in Qin Jian’s home until past ten o’clock before leaving.

The warriors who had drunk too much left An Hao’s home a mess with vomit everywhere!

An Hao was busy for a whole night, cleaning up the entire house, washing all the bedsheets, couch covers, and towels.

She had a compulsion for cleanliness and felt uncomfortable if she didn’t wash everything.

The next morning, she hung up all the items on the balcony, and what couldn’t fit, she hung on the rope under the family quarters.
