Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 848: Chapter 848: Just This Once, No Next Time.

”What good stuff could possibly be of your concern?” Qin Jian raised an eyebrow at this bunch of thick-skinned guys.

”Good things are meant to be shared! Don’t be so stingy, Qin Jian, let’s see what you’ve got.” Li Zecheng joined in.

”You guys are unbelievable!” Qin Jian laughed and unwrapped the item, which revealed two cardboard boxes. Inside the boxes were two bottles of red wine.

The wine was from Ning Yibin’s friend in Hong Kong, who had sent it to his father, and his father had mailed it to him for tasting.

”Wow! Red wine! That’s some good stuff! How about we try these two bottles tonight, brother Qin Jian?” Li Zecheng garnered enthusiastic support.

The two bottles of wine Qin Jian had just received were already earmarked by this group of rascals.

”You guys should really know your limits! Coming over for a meal my wife made is one thing, but sharing my wine? I’m telling you, we can only share one bottle; the other one’s for a romantic candlelit dinner or something when I have time with my wife!” Qin Jian said.

”Oh my! Looks like sister-in-law’s charm wins!” Li Zecheng pointed at the band of warriors and said, ”See that? Once you’re married, learn from our chief of staff! That’s the real role model for us men! Pampering the wife goes without saying!”

”That’s so true, Chief!” Xiaoma, the company commander, said with a big laugh, ”You said it perfectly! Sister-in-law can cook for the chief of staff during the day, warm his bed at night, and later on, even bear his children! What can us men do for the chief of staff compared to that?”

”Hahaha! That’s right, brother! Spot on!” Li Zecheng gave him a thumbs-up. ”I bet it’s the same at your home, isn’t it?”

”Me? My wife just doesn’t get it. After the lords have been out battling all day, she won’t even bother to bring me warm water to wash my feet. I’ll just give her a good nagging,” he said.

”Alright! Stop your yammering,” Qin Jian interrupted, pulling fifty yuan out of his pocket and placing it on the table, ”someone go run an errand—bring up a few cases of beer! Since everyone’s here, let’s have a good time tonight.”

”Yes, Chief of Staff!” These guys, shameless as ever, snatched up the money and hurried off to buy beer.

In the kitchen, An Hao was busy cleaning a fish and couldn’t help but smile at the conversation between Qin Jian and the warriors.

Qin Jian from her past life would’ve never said something like that; he was always a quiet person.

Now, he’s quite the sly fox!

An Hao thought to herself and couldn’t help but sneak in a little laugh.

Qin Jian walked into the kitchen with the wine bottles and saw An Hao’s tender hands working on the fish, his heart ached for her, ”Why should you be doing this? These blind fools!”

”It’s alright,” An Hao said, wiping the sweat from her forehead. ”These are just minor things. I’ve dissected people before, what’s a little fish in comparison? But where did all these fish come from?”

”We caught them during field training today! They were supposed to be cooked in the army canteen, but after Brother Li said a few words, all the warriors flocked over for a free meal,” Qin Jian placed the wine bottles down and walked over to An Hao, taking the scissors from her hand, ”I’ll take over dinner for tonight. You go rest.”

”Do you even know how to cook?” An Hao asked with a smile.

”It’s precisely because I can’t cook that I will cook! If I make it taste a bit bad, then they won’t come over next time! Saves you from all this hard work,” Qin Jian explained.

An Hao burst out laughing, ”Chief of Staff, that’s a clever tactic! But if you mess up what the soldiers worked hard to catch, wouldn’t it make everyone’s happiness turn to waste? Just tell them that this is a one-time thing, and there will be no next time.”
