Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 844: Chapter 844: The First Surgery

An Hao glanced at the patient whose breathing was becoming more and more difficult and was on the verge of death, and said, ”Yes. All he needs is a Tracheotomy to relieve his breathing, and his life can be saved.”

”Good, then you do it. I’ll prepare the equipment for you!”

It was An Hao’s first time to go to the operating table alone, and she honestly wasn’t sure what to expect.

After the anesthesiologist administered the anesthesia to the patient, An Hao took a deep breath, recalling all the knowledge she had learned in the operating room.

Picking up the scalpel, she decisively began the surgery on the patient.

As the sharp scalpel sliced through the patient’s skin, An Hao’s formerly tense emotions suddenly relaxed.

She concentrated fully, coordinating perfectly with the hospital nurses, and flawlessly completed the surgery.

She cut open the patient’s windpipe, inserted an artificial tube, and put the patient on a ventilator, successfully relieving the asphyxiation and pulling his life back from the brink of death.

By the time she finished the operation, the surgeons, who were supposed to be resting at home but had rushed back after receiving the call, had arrived.

So, An Hao greeted the hospital leaders and took the opportunity to slip away.

Only when she left the operating room did she realize that she couldn’t possibly get back to town alone.

It was so late now, and she wouldn’t be able to find her way, which would surely worry her.

Therefore, she hurriedly used the hospital’s phone to call Qin Jian.

The call came at a perfect time, as Qin Jian had also just arrived home, realized no one was there, and was about to go looking for her.

The home phone rang, and he picked it up; it was An Hao calling.

An Hao explained her situation to Qin Jian, hung up the phone, and waited at the hospital for him to pick her up.

An hour later, Qin Jian appeared at the hospital.

Seeing An Hao standing at the entrance, waiting for him, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of distress.

”Are you a fool? Waiting here like this? Couldn’t you have found a place to rest for a while?”

An Hao, happy as a little bird, flung herself into Qin Jian’s arms, ”I just got here, and then I waited at the hospital entrance, in case you couldn’t find me and got anxious.”

Qin Jian frowned tightly, looking at her and scolding softly, his tone carrying a mix of three parts reprimand and seven parts tenderness, ”You know I would worry? Didn’t you think about what would happen if something bad happened on the way?”

”I’m fine, aren’t I?” An Hao said coquettishly, leaning on him, ”If I hadn’t come along, this patient’s life might not have been saved! As a doctor, I can lack medical skills, but I absolutely must not lack medical ethics! Seeing this situation and knowing I could lend a helping hand, yet doing nothing to save a life, I couldn’t do that! I know you’re worried about me! I promise you, next time I’ll inform you in advance! So, please don’t be angry, okay?”

Qin Jian nodded and asked, ”How’s the patient now?”

An Hao said joyfully, ”He’s out of danger! I was the one who went into the operating room and personally used the scalpel to save his life! It was the first surgery I completed by myself!”

Watching her excitement, Qin Jian couldn’t help but admire, ”You’re amazing, I’m proud of you!”

The next morning, when An Hao arrived at the health clinic, she happened to run into Yan Ye who was just coming in.

Before she could greet him, Yan Ye asked her first, ”How did that patient from yesterday turn out?”

”Teacher Yan, you knew?” An Hao asked.

Yan Ye nodded, ”I heard about it yesterday. Because of it, I even made a special trip back. I waited at the entrance for a while, but didn’t see you return.”
