Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 801: Chapter 801: Showing Its Edge for the First Time

Just as Yan Ye and the forensic expert fell into deep thought, An Hao suddenly said, ”You mentioned currents above 10 amps. Currents ranging from 18 to 22 milliamps caused heart fibrillation, or perhaps the 22 milliamp current caused cardiac arrest, which then led to a massive heart attack.”

After re-examining the body’s condition, Yan Ye also confirmed An Hao’s assertion, ”I think there’s no major issue. This should be a death caused by electrocution.”

The forensic expert agreed with this statement.

That afternoon, the autopsy results were relayed to the patient’s family, and thereafter the police began their investigation. Three days later, the investigative results were out—the patient indeed died from electrocution.

The patient had accidentally touched an extremely fine copper wire of an electric fan on the table, which was exposed. Although it only caused a small burn on the skin, it unexpectedly triggered atrial fibrillation.

Once the patient’s family received the results, they ceased to cause any further commotion, and the hospital cleared its name of any wrongdoing.

This story was quickly reported in the media. The reporters seriously reconstructed the situation and didn’t attribute all the credit to Yan Ye just because he was a professor.

Neither did they erase all of An Hao’s contributions simply because she was a student about to enter her third year.

Thanks to this report, An Hao instantly became a celebrity in Nancheng City, and the Military Medical University gained fame because of her as well.

Nancheng City People’s Hospital was very interested in this sophomore student, and the hospital leadership personally came to the university to find An Hao.

The morning classes had just ended when An Hao and her roommate walked out of the classroom together.

The school’s dean of students and the vice president in charge of talent recruitment from the hospital were waiting for An Hao at the door. When they saw her, the dean called her over, ”An Hao, come here! Vice President Lin from the People’s Hospital has specifically come to look for you.”

The school’s students had seen the report and knew about An Hao’s case, so they all speculated whether the hospital was planning to recruit her ahead of time.

A crowd swarmed around.

”Vice President Lin, hello. May I know why you are looking for me?” An Hao also had her suspicions, and to her surprise, her guess was indeed correct.

”An Hao! We at the hospital are all aware of the recent incident. A sophomore with such meticulous observational skills and such profound knowledge is truly impressive. We are very interested in you, and we wanted to ask if you would be interested in joining our People’s Hospital after graduation,” Vice President Lin said directly, without beating around the bush and telling An Hao his intentions.

Surprised, An Hao responded, ”I am sorry, but I am a student of the Military Medical University. After graduation, I must follow the assignments and arrangements given by my superiors.”

”That’s not a problem at all! We can discuss this matter with the leaders of your university,” Vice President Lin said.

”Hey! Lin, you didn’t say you were going to poach people. You just said you wanted to meet this student, that’s why I brought you here. If you talk like this, I certainly won’t agree. A talent like this must be kept within our affiliated hospital,” the dean of students objected.

Hearing what the dean said, envy appeared on the faces of the other students.

”Don’t interrupt. I want to ask An Hao! In three years, once you graduate and join our hospital, I will include you in our talent development plan. You will also have the opportunity for academic exchanges abroad...”

An Hao acknowledged that the opportunity was tempting, but she belonged to the Military Medical University and intended to stay at the military hospital after graduation.

Thus, she promptly refused, ”Sorry! Vice President Lin, my goal is to remain in the military hospital. Once I don the military uniform, I plan to serve as a military doctor for life.”
